With reference to the card piece - it's a bit weird, as historically financial institutions used to ask that you didn't call them before you went away, recently it seems to be encouraged.
They have software that can tell when things are outside of your spend pattern or high risk. There's also some basics like if your physical card was used in different geographic locations within a short space of time it will flag, this is what happens when people withdraw money on a cloned card abroad. It has to be done abroad due to the chip and pin technology. Whereas when you do ecommerce or phone transactions it recognises them as card not preset and looks at if it fits your profile etc...
Personally I use all different across the world including a Caxton card without any issue. I've had a couple of calls and emails to confirm that I used my card in a location ie cash machine in Australia and I think I had one credit card declined in the US which was fixed with a short phone call.0 -
SeptemberOK moving onto this thread (don't cry NY I will be back) as I have won a holiday - check out the itinary here http://www.intrepidtravel.com/trips/SSOG so going end of August and have a multitude of random qs so best get started.
Only in Vegas for two nights so need to hit the ground running.
1) Remember seeing somewhere where you can skydive with "Elvis"? I know about the "FlyingElvi" but you can't jump with them so can anyone help?
2) Obvioulsy vegas weddings are a sight to be seen - if I went to a chapel and asked if anyone needed a witness (not trying to jump in on someone's big day when they've planned it for years etc, thinking more the spur of the moment type ones)
3) Heard there is a 90-min condensed Phantom of the Opera show. Where is it and how much are tickets? Any other suggestions for cheap, on the day tickets for decent Vegas shows?

OctoberWelcome aboard HGLT, (never understood what people see in NY);)
All very good questions that I have never come across before. Lets see if the knowledgeable panel can help. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
JulySorry for all the questions, just that I have a clarity card that I may use in Vegas and I have never used it before even though I have had it for ages
I would really just make a purchase on the card to ensure it works first of all.
Before you go on holiday you need to call them and inform them of this, again as mentioned in this thread as a Holiday Notification Form will be filled in and this will allow them to know where you will be using your card.
Banks now take all fraud prevention methods as they possibly can and if your card all of a sudden is used in a foreign country then they will of course be looking to prevent possible fraud.
When I got my card I got everything set up at the same time, it really is a couple of minutes on the phone and viola you're good to go
Also should you still experience problems outside of the UK then you can always use the International Number on the back of the card.0 -

SeptemberI know ...that's why I suggested you might not have had the email yet as we are off in July.
334 for our two nights now. Looks like it was a misprice, but they are honouring it.
We paid £485 for 4 nights at the Cosmo in a premium view terrace, fri 23rd Sept until Tues 26th via netflights.....just reinput the dates again now via net flights as if I was booking again and the cost now shows £769
Hope they do honour the mis-price, big difference! I thought we got a good deal but not that good!!0 -

Imperial Palace were giving between 1.57 and 1.60 for rates between 1.62 and 1.67 last month. We worked it out to be better to change cash than to use the atms. IP were a lot better than most places we looked at.0
