Hmmmmm. Has anyone here investigated buying a "room" in Vegas, eg they are selling CityCenter now.....Mandarin, Vdara and Veer.....maybe as part of a group with the intention to rent it out.

They have been selling (or trying) to sell the city centre condos for years. Somewhere on the net you will find the stats on what they had managed to sell at the time of opening and it doesn't make pleasant reading for MGM - certainly one of the hotels had sold about 10% of what they were hoping for. Current prices are (generally) a fraction of what they were on offer for during the construction phase.

My last trip report (linked on previous page) spreads over a couple of pages and includes pictures and words of a review of platinum. In summary. Fantastic! Let me know if you can't find it. Posting on phone at the moment

One place I always visit is Maggiano's, it's right by the fashion show mall. Italian is the cuisine it's not overpriced and the portions are huge. You can order small portions and even then they're enough to share. No problem or embarrasment in sharing and the staff will warn you about portion size when ordering.

My favourite is the clam linguine, spiked with lot of garlic.....mmmmm. I'm not a small guy and a decent eater, having a starter I've never made it to desert.

Cheese cake factory at Caesers is wonderful.

Fatburger totally disgusting but totally moreish. I understand Stripburger is also well recommended.

I prefer IHOP over Denny's for a pancake brekkie.

Steaks, Wolensky's is a bit expensive and imho pretty much any steakhouse is good. I've eaten in the Excalibur, v nice, Binions likewise. But the steakhouse in the Golden Nugget is more expensive but has a more intimate atmosphere. The onion ring starter is about the size of a brieze block. When they serve your steak you are asked to cut into it to ensure it is to your standard and liking and no hesitation in changing it if it isn't.

Chinese is either the Asian restaurant at the Orleans or Ping Pangs at the Gold Coast. The Gold Coast also has one of those diner style fast food chinese counters where it's quick to grab a decent bite before a show.

But overall my 1st choice is Maggianos'...making me hungry now.

    Star! Thanks a lot.

So a couple questions, well maybe more.

    1. how reliable are lowcostusa/cityandshow
    2. how does the Aria rate amongst the other similar properties
    3. would you book this at this price
    4. when they say 'total price' does this include the resort fee
that's enough questions for now. ta very much

1/ no idea, never used them
2/ top notch now most of the teething problems have been sorted
3/ No. Aria prices were in the $99 - $120 last summer (including weekends!!) so I'd wait for an offer direct with them. Times are still tough in Vegas so its a bit of a gamble balancing the general discounting of rooms in Vegas to the higher prices Aria can now charge as the bad press about their teething problems becomes forgotten. Overall though, even if it worked out a few $ more I'd stick with booking with the hotel.
    4/ No idea

This will be a must as it's where we're staying:D

I like the Nugget, it takes a few days for sleep patterns to catch up, go to bed at 1am and wide awake at 4am, for me the fact that the GN has a 24hr Starbucks is a serious bonus for my daily fix.

I will also take a walk along to Wallgreens pharmacy and buy a 500 tub of paracetamol etc at a bargain price.

Agreed, stayed there in 2009 and had a fantastic suite. The only small negative was that both 42" tv's had blown speakers where previous occupants had cranked up the volume a bit too much in the past

We thought about buying something in Vegas briefly but decided that it was too expensive for what we would get out of it (the initial cost + maintenance/management fees)...we wouldn't really want to go in on something with other people as there's always potential drama there...and since we can get hotels comped or cheap most of the time, there's just little value to us.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
