On the note of flights, i read that for Virgin passengers, you can pay $10 and drop your bags at MGM early in the day.......
Does anyone know if you can do the same for Delta (i fly to orlando with delta), flight aint until 22:40! Were off for a drive somewhere all day, so dont want the cases in the Mustang :)

Yes -for domestic flights you can -but for those flying internationally it's only Virgin. Personally I wouldn't do it as I like to know the bags are actually on my flight so would get the bell to collect them from my room before I checked out and collect them before heading to the airport -at 2 x $1 tip per bag it'll probably cost the same anyway.

Continental delivered my new bag today. I reported it damaged at Heathrow -lovely lady took the report-and I got a phone call yesterday -and the new bag arrived by courier today. Bag had a split at the bottom -could still cart my stuff home in it but it wasn't repairable. The new bag is nicer than the old one -and they even offered me a choice of sizes. Great service.

Someone else said the same thing, but I dont see the difference between handing your bags to a baggage handler at the MGM or a baggage handler at the airport, either one of them could lose your bags but neither of them are likely to.

I used it at the MGM last year and thought it was great not having to unload bags from car and stand in line at the airport to get rid of them.

Has anyone taken/used a TravelEx Cash Passport card in Vegas?
It says you can use it @ any atm or shop that take Mastercard but I just wanted to see if anyone has used one and how widely they are accepted, and if all cash machines in Vegas take them.

    Thanks

We are using one and it seems ok so far

    .

Entirely personal choice-I just feel the odds of bags getting lost are lower....not to mention they will be tracked from the moment I hand them over so are easier to find again rather than a third party company but I don't know what their T&Cs are like and if they even compenate and how much if the worst happens.

I probably view it slightly differently as I don't stand in line very often with frequent flyer status tho and often squeeze everything into carry on so don't check bags as a rule. Never really though about it though as I do everything I can not to fly the evil bearded airline anyway ;)

Re the getting bumped. You have to remember that if you ask to be voluntarily off loaded and go on standby at check in your original seats are gone. So if they board the plane and find there are some free seats you will be asked to step up and board, and the seat could be anywhere, but it will not be business that's for sure. Now if you are a couple you will probably be seated separate and in the middle of a row, it is the chance you take. This of course does not apply if they ask for volunteers at the gate.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Agree about personal choice. The bags are tracked as soon as you hand then over at MGM as they are tagged with the barcode label and you get your receipt along with your boarding card exactly as you would as if checking in at airport.

For a non status flyer it was great getting to the airport and going staright to security

Cheers for the info peeps :)
My Delta flight down to Orlando aint until 22:40, so makes it a bit easier coming back from wherever we go to head straight to the airport as opposed to the hotel to collect bags and then drive back to the airport :)
1 week to go, woooooooohooooooooooooooo !!!!

Virgin's lines can be horrible so I do see your point :)
