I have a total rewards card from last year but see that credits expire unless at least one reward credit is obtained every six months. Is there anyway around this for us poor peasants who can only afford one trip a year. Mine have already expired so asking for next timeillegitimi non carborundum0

MayRe headphone sockets on AA. I was reliably informed that the B777 we were flying on had twin sockets so bought an adaptor. Turned out we didn't need it as it was a single jack. The adaptors are only around £2 on Amazon or eBay so no big loss.0

MarchThe last time we went with a non-UK flight operator (can't recall whether it was the NWA, US Airways or Air France leg of our return journey), but one of them had a weird headphone socket for the IFE. (Possibly from memory just segregation of the L + R audio feed)
Is this something that's used on AA flights (ie. do we need to buy an adapter that will allow us to use our OWN headphones with their IFE system?)
Not on the planes we've been on but we always choose flights on 777s so can't say about others - we've used ours without an adapter...have found on some airlines even if they have the 2-pin style we can use ours - maybe not in stereo, but we're not that fussed.
Our headphones came with the adapters - his are nice, mine are cheap (as I have broken too many pairs to justify buying a nice pair)...so may be worth checking if you already have them...we never bother to bring our adapters anymore.
Can't remember if seatguru gives that level of detail for all the types of planes they use?Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Agree that there's not really a way around it for those in the UK other than lending your card to someone as has been suggested - BUT that could impact your offers...if you normally play through $1000/day, and someone sticks your card in a machine and plays $5 (edited from $1 as $5 playthrough = 1 point on slots, $10 for VP) to keep your reward credits alive, it's said that that could screw up your ADT (average daily theoretical loss) on which it's said your comps will be based...so may only be an idea if you have a lot of credits you don't want to lose.
But not having any reward credits doesn't impact your offers and what discounts you may be able to get booking through Total Rewards.
Tier score is different too - calendar year there, rather than 6 months...tier score is what determines which level you are (gold/platinum/diamond and for those with a LOT of spare cash to spend gambling - seven stars).
edited to add that we keep hoping that they will roll out Total Rewards at the LCI casinos in the UK...that would be great!Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Mayhi
sorry if i'm going to be annoying and ask silly questions that seem unimportant in the 'vegas world' but i'm so excited and i just need to know ***everything***:D:o
following links off the 1st post (possibly then following other links?) i've seen a printable shopping passport page. has anyone used this and can tell me what it is? it says print it off and redeem it at customer service/ info centre etc
(http://www.destinationcoupons.com/Nevada/Las_Vegas/shop_lasvegas/coupon.asp)
also, every different website i've read goes on and on about good shoes, i guess i should leave my high heels at home:o but is it really a big thing, i can't imagine it, - are we talking proper walking shoes, or just normal flats? And hats!, do i really really need a hat:p i never wear a hat in the sun here, but i realise here and vegas are slightly different places. (i also haven't needed a hat on holiday in spain or mexico) I just can't imagine what its going to be like heat wise, (i'm going end may / 1st week june) i've got a picture of me looking like i'm going on a safari with my walking boots, hat and a strip of white sunblock across my nose:rotfl:
one last girlie question (for now:D) clothes for the evening. i've read a couple of times that no one gets 'dressed up' for the evening, and even most people don't get changed from their day wear. does every one here agree? (i don't get that if its that hot, 'people' wouldn't want to shower and change before going out to dinner:eek:)
lastly thanks so much to all the regulars for all the info and experiances on here, it really does help us vegas virgins:T:T0 -
The shopping passport gives you a book full of vouchers normally a few useful ones always easy to pick up so would recommend printing off0

I'm not sure where you have read that no one gets dressed up for the evening - loads of people do...many (like us) opt not to and luckily for us it's perfectly acceptable not to be dressed to the nines most places (some restaurants have dress codes, most don't). You will see everything from people in gowns to people in shorts and t-shirts in the evening...it's one of the things we like about Vegas. we normally shower and change before we head out in the evening, but we normally wear similar type clothes to what we wore during the day...it's not that people don't shower.
I never wear a hat...I usually bring a pair of comfy flats and a pair of trainers...most days the trainers are on all the time, occasionally I swap for the flats or sandals.
As for temps -

Average highs mid-30s, average lows around 20.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Marchi love getting dressed up for the evening for shows and dinner etc if americans and mexicans want to turn up to a 5* dinner in a wife beater top thats up to them.
erm. Some of us don't 'love' getting dressed up for the evening...and opt not to. Though we don't go for 5* meals, so maybe it's OK...for us Americans (and our Mexican friends).Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
