Also checking out the site I have came across Priceline.com, now have any of you guys/girls used the site when booking in Las Vegas as it certainly seems to be a way in which to make some great savings on a hotel should your bid be accepted. No idea what kind of sucess your looking at though so if anyone has any experience on this option then comments would be welcomed :)

    Yes

    No

Vegas is probably one of the few places in the US I wouldn't use PL. I have in the past for last moment trips but booking and planning ahead there are better deals with named hotels by shopping around for deals. It's fab for other places though

The one thing myself and my brother who is going this year have to decide on is the Hotel. Now we stayed in Planet Hollywood last year which was fantastic but looking to go elsewhere for a change of course. Looking at some of the package deals out there the range of £1200.00 - £1400.00 for the trip includes TI (stayed there briefly in '08), V'dara (not a casino I'm aware), The Mirage, PH, Wynn+Encore, Aria and the like. Certainly a few options as we are looking to stay in a 4 star min again and also on the strip, any recommendations? PH went down really well last year so something similar would be good.

If you have been before a few times, did you gamble and did you sign up for players clubs at any of the casinos or groups of casinos? If so you may find you can get a better deal than the packages.

Like duchy we think Priceline is great - but Vegas is the one place we wouldn't bother with it as there are too many good deals out there booking direct.

Sorry - not glued to the computer - the snooker final is on!

Im sure google will give you the answer to industry averages. Have a llook

The insurance companies arent all big evil monsters, its your choice whether you take a policy and travel is by far the most competitive market. They WILL pay out if you need to make a claim against an insured incident, which potentially could be massive in America.

Besides injury and illness, it's useful to have insurance for other travel problems. We were once delayed and missed a flight. We had to pay for another flight and then had taxi, food and hotel costs associated with the delay. It was all paid back by the insurance company.

Esta question. I went to Vegas last year and the same this year so no problems as my ESTA is still valid. However what happens if you've added your address in the USA on the ESTA but this time you're going elsewhere in the USA. I appreciate you don't have to fill out that part of the form but what if you do. Anyone with experience of this?

Yeah yourself and Duchy have certainly put me off the idea, will keep it in mid for other destinations however.

Sadly that's the one folly of my trips so far, I haven't signed up for the players clubs in the casinos, will be doing that as soon as I get there this time. Just tended to ignore it out of just sheer ignorance to what it offered, will miss out on deals sadly because of this.

I'm not entirely sure how cheaper booking direct is ending up however, some of the packages on expedia, certainly for some hotels, seem to offer the best value which I am very surprised at tbh.

You can go to the ESTA website with your existing ESTA number (or if you don't have your application number, your passport and various identifying information) and update if you wish.

Sometimes they are, though for the higher end hotels historically lowcostusa.co.uk has had some of the best rates for hotel only - may be worth getting flight prices then checking hotels separately to be sure you're comparing all options.

It used to be that packages were almost never a good deal, other than some last minute ones...seems they are more and more competitive now. I've no experience with them as we always get the best rates booking direct (but that's because we go via players club offers :))

You joined in a discussion about travel insurance by letting everyone know you worked for the UK's largest insurer and snidely remarking you were wasting two minutes of your life by feeding a troll.

Yet when asked a simple question about your company with whom you have worked for nine years you're unable to answer it.

Insurance companies never publish details about the number of policies and claimants they have for a very simple reason - it would spell out very clearly that statistically most insurance is a complete waste of money other than giving peace of mind.

As I've pointed out previously anyone is entitled to make whatever choice they want but inane and infantile abuse doesn't really add much to the debate.

This is a forum about Las Vegas travel - I've called your bluff.
