With that in mind, what's peoples experience of having to checkin in Vegas? Usually seems 5 minutes wait (maximum) for us - probably had to wait around 10 minutes at Paris once.... have we been lucky or do people over-exagerate? It's obviously partly to do with timings (if lots of people arrive at the same time), but have read stories of people queuing for hours?!?
We have rarely spent less than 1/2 hour waiting to check in, (unless at the Platinum) but some good recommendations in your post.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

The quickest we have moved is 15 mins from the room in one hotel to the room in the next. The longest has been about 1.5 hours at MGM on a Friday when we just left the bags with the bell desk and went to the casino.
Did that include packing all your stuff away and unpacking again, because that is the real time involved in moving.

    Eh?

You leave your first hotel-drive to second hotel-leave the bags with the valet-go to check in -either you then go off for the day or if your room is ready you go to your room -call the valet to bring up the bags-then you're free -or if not ready you head out -go back later for the keys -and then call the valet to bring the bags.

Oh you don't tip/pay anything extra for storage-so even with four bags you'd be tipping a dollar a bag so $16 (say $20 if you don't carry singles) not $40

Course I travel with one small bag whenever I can -and only the dressiest stuff gets hung -and by halfway through your trip surely half your stuff is worn so would stay packed in the "dirty" case anyway so you wouldn't be unpacking everything.

Sounds like you nest build in your hotel room though so maybe you need to be a tiny bit of a nomad rather than a homebody to hotel switch :)

We changed hotels once, never again. 40+ trips to Vegas tells me that with 4 suitcases all emptied and clothes hung, things in drawers, toiletries in bathroom all set up, then in the middle of it before 10am in the morning having to pack it all away to do it all again?! And what if the hotel you are going to doesn't let you check in till 2-4pm. Sure, some might let you do it earlier but that is one big chance you are taking. Then there is the tip for having your bags sent up twice and collect twice, oh and don't forget the tip for storage. I would say $40 should cover it. No thanks, I will stay put and might try that hotel on the next trip.

Different strokes for different folks - but on out last time check out of the Flamingo took a good 40 mins ( i timed) - I dont want to waste my vegas time doing that then checking in somewhere else, we dont hire a car either, which is probably one the reasons.

It's not for me - but then its a great way to try out a few different hotels in one trip.

I don't check out of the Flamingo anymore -I clear the bill the night before -and just express check out -ie leave the keys and go. Never yet had any nasty surprises on the bill that way but not had to queue either.

!!!!!! is the "Eh" about? Seems to me as though you are a bit light in the tipping stakes. $2 per bag taking up, and same back down, (mind we have 32KG bags sometimes) $16, same again next hotel, $16, and a round $5 for the bell desk storage (you mean you never tip the bell desk for keeping your bags? tisk, tisk) that's $37.00. And yes most of our stuff is dress clothing, so it needs hanging. You are right, not everything gets unpacked again, but that doesn't mean there is still not a lot to do. Hey, if you want to go to Vegas for 9 nights with one small bag, good on you.
And I will pass on your advice on being a "homebuddy".

    HI all,

Almost taking off to Vegas, quite excited already. We are flying with
American Airlines over the Atlantic on a Boeing 777 Jet. I have now two questions:

    1) Does every passenger have their own inflight entertainment system on-flight?

    2) Are alcoholic drinks for free with AA or do we have to pay

    Many thanks,
    grubby

Do what I do and don't unpack :rotfl: I leave my suitcase open on the floor and never go near the wardrobe or a drawer. My reasoning is I'm on holiday and will be as messy as I like! Takes minutes to then pack when we leave.

Always had individual tvs on flights from Heathrow, not on the internal US flight though.

I think you pay for booze, I only ever drink soft drinks on a flight so it's not been an issue.

10-15 mins to pack 2-3 cases, depending where we are in the trip, which hubby does.

10 mins at the other end to unpack and we unpack everything and either hang it up or put it in drawers. The kettle, etc gets unpacked first and in the time it takes me to make the tea, the unpacking's done.

It's only worth doing it for 3 nights or more. We were at the Encore for 2 nights and arrived late the first night so we didn't bother unpacking.
