That could be potentially bad news from some of us who wanna visit National parks... There is a chance that all of them will be close from tomorrow on...
Which services would stop? During the last major shutdowns in the final days of 1995 and early 1996, the government closed 368 National Park Service sites, along with national museums and monuments.
In addition, 200,000 passport applications went unprocessed and toxic waste cleanup work at 609 sites stopped. The National Institutes of Health stopped accepting new clinical research patients and services for veterans, including health care, were curtailed.
Work on bankruptcy cases could slow. In the last shutdown, more than 3,500 cases were delayed.

November / DecemberBooked Vegas for Christmas
Flying from Gatwick with Virgin, mainly as I was trying to avoid BA. Hadn't seen this thread when I booked it yesterday, but I guess I can endure it for 10 hrs...
Still not booked hotel, was toying with Venetian, also Vdara. Venetian for the whole ambience, although Vdara rooms much more contemporary. Sister is stopping atBellagio, which looks lovely but rooms look a little tired for the money. Anyone got any recommendations on those three?
We are going to do two ngihts somewhere near GC, havent booked that yet, although I dont mind doing a nice budget hotel there. I have been 10 years ago and stopped in Williams but hubby never been
tHe show I want to see is Jersey boys, can anyone recommend how to get discounted tickets? We are flying out 21st Dec, and will be staying in LV until 27th, before we head to GC.
Can't wait, seems so much to do!0 -
Marchjust booked for September - yay!
Flying with AA - stopping for a few days to see family then onto Vegas.
Played around on TR and got a better deal with 2 reservations - him first 5 nights, me last 2 nights...staying at Bally's...best deal we could see with one of us booking with the other as a companion was at Paris and about $70 more total...so it does pay to try different options if there are 2 of you with TR accounts.
This also makes it easy if we get a good deal somewhere else between now and then - hoping for a Wynn/Encore deal - can just cancel my reservation for the last 2 nights.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
November / DecemberWhen are you going in September?0
-
Hi everyone,
I’m just after a bit of advice. We’re heading back to Vegas in September for the fourth time when we're going to get married, and various family and friends will be joining us out there for a week or so.
Unfortunately, my parents aren’t exactly thrilled at the prospect of heading back to Vegas having stayed in the Stratosphere for a couple of nights a few years ago whilst on an organised tour of California, Nevada and Arizona.
Anyway, I’ve been doing my best to gee them up a bit by explaining that they probably weren’t aware of a lot of the things that would have appealed to them and obviously they weren’t staying in a prime location or in one of the best hotels.
So, a change of hotel aside (I think they’re leaning towards Encore), bearing in mind my parents are in their early sixties, do any of you have any suitable recommendations for more tranquil, easy going things to do?
I’ve already suggested the botanical gardens in the Bellagio, the dolphins and tigers at the Mirage and I’m going to arrange a couple of shows for them to see (probably a Cirque show and Celine Dion), but any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.
make sure you see the Bellagio fountains at night .
Shark Reef is fun and relaxed . other ideas . trip out to Hoover dam , visit a Spa , Red rock Canyon , Lake Mead .Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

MayWooHoo!!
Just agreed with my fiancee to go next year. We're getting married in May so plan on having a big America trip for our 1st year anniversary. Plan is to fly to Charlotte and stay with friends for a week. Then fly to Vegas for 2 nights, drive out to the GC for a night. Back to Vegas on our anniversary for another night then on to LA and up the coast to San Fran. Can't blooming wait. Keep forgetting i've got my wedding and honeymoon beforehand. Planning on booking things around Autumn time but will keep checking in for deals etc..
I went to Vegas 2 years ago with friends but my fiancee has never been and really want to make it special for her. Can see her loving it though!! Going to stay the first 2 nights at somewhere central like PH then our anniversary night is when I'll push the boat out.
Awesome information throughout the thread.0 -
