AprilFlying with Virgin to Vegas in about 10/11 days - was just wondering what to expect (for free) on board? eg. food, drinks, entertainment.
Also, how spacious are the seats on Virgin planes?
Many thanks

Food - standard re-heated plastic container with Chicken or Shepherds Pie etc.
Drinks - alcohol and soft all free until they run out.
Enterainment - dozen or so channels on a loop......unreliable and it breaks down
Seats - just hope the person in front doesnt recline. And take a cushion to sit on.
Unfortunately they are knackered old planes, with experienced stewardesses giving Vegas a wide berth, but its convenient and direct.illegitimi non carborundum0 -

It will be a 747-400, have a look at www.seatguru.com and select the appropriate carrier and destination, it will give a summary of what is offered.
My last flight into SFO and back from LA was OK, seatback movie choices were decent, at seat service is nothing special but (and it suits some) you can visit the galleys and pick up your own drinks and they still do the choc-ices.
Economy seating is ok and I survive (6'4" & 17 st) can get a bit of a numb bum as some padding is tired, I always reserve in the 64's (2-4-2 config) right on the toilets and back galley, again preferable to having someone on the inside of a 3 seater disturbing you, seat can go back for the whole flight without concern for a pax sitting behind. You are last to be served and a lack of choice is the negative, the positive is that if the choice is to your taste then you can usually blag extras/ seconds.
I don't look at the journey being part of the experience, I've spent the best part of 35 years travelling for work and as a specific job. I can endure 10 hours on a plane with a fully loaded ipod-touch and an emergency battery. If you are on the correct side of the plane then my solar charger works just fine.0 -

Or are you on the new route going from Manchester on the Thursday / Sunday?0 -
MayThe Vegas planes are nothing like the SFO planes in terms of age of plane or service however.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

AugustCan anyone who has used CarHire3000 give me some feedback? We are about to book either a Dodge Charger (£286) or Jeep Liberty (£293) for 11 nights.
We have added me as an additional driver and called up to confirm the price....not used before so any feedback would be great i.e. are there surcharges to pay upon collection in LV?
Thanks
As froggit says book the platinum package with a full tank, additional driver and nothing else to pay (return car empty)0 -
JuneI'm curious as to why VA use an old plane for the Vegas route ? as its not like they fly empty planes on that route! I would have thought it would be a glitzy plane, given the cost of it!0

BTW nvh, that is why we are doing the Atomic museum, staying at the Platinum and can walk there. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -

are you sure about that... i thought that was incredibly rude, going up and helping yourself. typical of 'Brits abroad'. it was never announced that you could do this. people were just taking away armfuls of drinks for themselves and then they ran out. I'm pretty sure the cabin crew were tutting about it, but couldn't be !!!!!d to deal with it as it probably wasn't worth the hassle.0
