January / FebruaryWe used to go 4 times a year until a couple of years ago. I kinda fell out of love with the place and kept seeing declining standards of customer service. That and the insistence on building new hotels that just made it look like any other American city put me off. Then we went to Miami, WHAT A DUMP, and I thought Vegas suffered from lack of service, now I am back on track, but the lack of themed hotel building still really irks me. We have 4 trips booked this year.
With regards to what you said about Miami, I know people who have been to New York and said the same sort of thing- that its like London there is the nice fancy parts and then some of it is a dump- I dont know cos never been. Understand what you mean about the newer hotels0 -
MarchDidn't get to go last year at all because of work, just been, will be going back in September and again in January, previous years I've averaged about 3 trips a year.0

We go once a year wish it was more very jealous!0

Marchthe thing is - we keep thinking we SHOULD try something else...we are in a bit of a rut, but every time we think of other places, we're quite certan we will spend the whole time thinking 'it's OK, but Vegas would be better'. The situation is not helped by the fact that we're lucky enough to get some really good offers and comps for hotel rooms...so we find it irksome to go somewhere else and have to PAY for hotels. It's silly, we know - but we looked into going to Florida a few years ago and were really planning to...and then we totted up the hard costs of flights, hotel, park tickets, etc...and it was soooo much cheaper just to go to Vegas.
Other than the gambling money, of course.
Sometimes during our trips we think - OK, after this one we look for something else next holiday...this is normally because we seem to do fairly awfully the first few days in terms of gambling...then things get better, and we kind of forget...one time I'm sure we will come back and think, OK, let's give Vegas a rest. We shall see.
And we're tidying up some CDs, etc...and found a DVD called "Las Vegas: The City of Excitement!" Copyright 2002...can't wait to watch it - should be fun to see what it was not so long ago shortly after we first started going.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
i would still be going , but not with a baby in tow .
i still do think Vegas is not for families like i did when we were just a couple . some people have a problem with that . personally i do not see why. loads of family friendly places , why can't there be one destination aimed at adults only ( for the most part ) ?.
of course if you do decide to take your kids , you won't hear me saying you are doing wrong , yes there is a family holiday to be had , but i do think your kids need to a bit older to enjoy it .
maybe when she is older we might consider going back , i miss the place like hell . if we did i think we might rent a house rather than stay in a hotel, the strip at night is for people of drinking age IMO .Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
We went to Miami this January for the first time - awful!! Been to las vegas twice and new york 4 times.
Vegas is so unique and def our favourite city0 -
JuneMyself and DH only go to Vegas every couple of years. We're only going this year because I won a trip, otherwise due to me being laid off twice in a year we wouldn't be bothering.
Everytime we arrive back home from Vegas we always say that we would go somewhere different next time, trouble is Vegas has spoilt us, so because we love it so much, we will just keep going back. There's always something we have missed out over there so we make that our excuse :j
Another thing is, is that we always do price comparisons for other places before thinking "b****r it" Vegas it is. DH wanted to go to Rome one year and when we priced it up, it worked out as expensive for 5 days than it was for 2 weeks in Vegas.
We ended up staying in Caesers Palace to sort of balance it out. :rotfl:BEST EVER WINS WON IN ORDER (so far) = Sony Camcorder, 32" lcd telly, micro ipod hifi, Ipod Nano, Playstation 3, Andrex Jackpup, Holiday to USA, nintendo wii, Liverpool vs Everton tickets, £250 Reward Your thirst, £500 Pepsi, p&o rotterdam trip, perfume hamper, Dr Who stamp set, steam cleaner.
comping = nowt more thrillin' than winnin':T :j0 -

We would like to live there eventually, and are checking out properties more seriously next time.
Hi I just came across this which you might already follow but just in case you don't http://www.vegasvideonetwork.com/getting-real-estate-in-vegas-022-the-lazy-mans-guide-to-searching-for-property-online/. Its a great site to watch the local vegas scene0 -
OctoberWe were actually scheduled move to Vegas a few years ago. Tracy had gotten the all clear to stay and we were going to The U.S. Embassy for her interview for her green card. The idea was to rent somewhere first, she had been promised a job as a hostess at Caesars and I am in construction. Then the night before her interview her dad died, and she wouldn't leave her mum. All in all it kinda worked out, just 3 months later the big bank thing happened, and the construction industry just fell apart. We will probably get there some day, but not while her mum is still alive. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0

JulyAfternoon everyone
As part of our LV wedding/honeymoon we are having 11 nights at Staybridge Suites LV, then 7 nights at Zoetry in Cabo San Lucas (Mexico) before returning to Vegas for a further 3 nights...can't decide where to stay really.
Stayed at Staybridge/Encore last year and loved them, however we're wandering whether it's worth bothering paying out all that $$$ for our last three nights in LV? We won't have a car when we get back from Mexico but that doesn't matter so much as we are both young and fit (though maybe not so after all the buffets we intend to consume!!!)
Really the last three days will be spent doing last minute shopping bits and maybe doing a day at Grand Canyon via plane (if we haven't already done this in the first part of the trip)as we did most other touristy bits last year or will do during our 11 days on the first part of this trip. Casino's or a great view aren't really that important to us for this trip, but a nice(ish) room and service is
At the moment we're undecided between....
1) Budget - Flamingo Go Room
2) Budget - Palms - some pretty decent packages on at the mo IMO but is it too far off strip to be convinient??
or
3) Wynn or Encore again
4) Bellagio - Fountain View
5) Mandarin Oriental
Were considering Cosmo but not since the prices have shot up.
Travel dates for last part of trip are Mon 1st Aug - Thurs 4th Aug
Any recommendations greatly recieved (just the two of us BTW)
Thanks x :j:staradmin There is no normal, only typical :staradmin0
