Has anyone been to Vegas over New Year and would you recommend going at that time of year? Were there still lots of people there at that time of year?
    Thanks

We have never been at New Year, but have hear it is extremely busy and the hotel prices go through the roof. It depends if you like large crowds, I think.

We have been twice at New Year but never again. It is bedlam on NYE, all the bars serve beer and cocktails in plastic cups, if you gamble forget it as all of the seats will be taken up by people just sitting around, prices for hotels will be sky high, and the place will be overridden with CALIFORNIANS!!
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

I'm actually very surprised BA didn't offer any compensation as a good will gesture. I agree it wasn't their fault but I think I'd probably write into them to let them know what happened. Let them know how their crew handled it-that kind of feedback is always appreciated and may get you an acknowledgement that you suffered-without you actually having to complain as such.
That is a very good idea. I have already sent them communication about being kept on the plane for ages while we waited for a bus, so might just give it a couple of days and send them something along the lines of what you suggested.

We'll be there over New Year - but are planning a 2/3 day drive with stop offs over to the Grand Canyon. If Vegas is rammed may go over to GC for New Year's Eve/Day itself.

Xmas week is much less crowded, and much cheaper. Prices go up around 28th Dec.

 i mention the rides in the guide in post 3 just below The Freemont street stuff . non of them are a rip off , and you can sometimes buy tickets for them at the half price ticket booths .

Trets you know by now that no one reads the first page:mad:, despite all your effort. It is still the best guide to Vegas newcomers on the net.:T

Have it In mind that snow may be your enemy if you choose to do GC that time of year. Apologies if you have already taken that into consideration :)

Has anyone stayed in Palazzo and Venetian and which do you prefer?

Still weighing up where to stay for our last 5 nights. We'ver stayed at Venetian previously and trying to work out if Palazzo is a better choice for us or not.

PS - I'm always going back to the front page for links and info etc.... :)
