I thought you were going to be staying at the Carriage House, did you cancel that?

Sorry to hear about Tracy. I would have been the same in that situation.
We decided to swap Carriage House for the longer trip in May as it will be cheaper for us.

i'm going in june for the 1st time:T

I haven't read anything on here about the rides! why??:p Its the rides i'm most looking forward to, sat here right now i don't think i'll do any gambling at all i have absolutly no niggle to do it (but i'm going with 3 other people so that might change if we get there and they do, i don't know)

can someone pleeease talk about the rides:D are they expensive? are the queues long? which are worth doing and which not? (if they are expensive and the queues are long)

    thank you!!

Which rides are you thinking of? There is the roller coaster at NYNY and 3 or 4 rides at the top of the Stratosphere. Apart from that I can only think of Adventuredome inside Circus Circus.

stoneman did the airline company pick up your cleaning bill?
No, and we didn't expect them to, not their fault, just one of those things. They did move the guy away from us though to one of the crew seats.

Do everything at the Strat, except for the abseil, it looks really expensive for what it is. Youtube some of the vids of the rides. Go to their website for prices, I think you can by an all in one pass. Do "speed the ride" at The Sahara, over pretty quick but you go from 0-100mph in less than 2 seconds then do a sharp left hander before doing a loop then being launched vertical, then back again. The roller coaster at NYNY is always a good ride, but make sure you get in the line for the front car. Everything at the Adventuredome is pretty tame.
P.S. Everything in Vegas is expensive relatively speaking, and I have never noticed any real queues as such except for the NYNY coaster. People don't really go to Vegas for the rides.

What are you meaning by "gift certificate" as we may be at cross purposes here?

You can buy a generic GC, ie not for a specific restaurant. You can then use that to buy a restaurant specific certificate. However you don't need to buy a generic one first, you can just go ahead and buy one specifically for Stripsteak.

If you buy a $50 certificate you need to spend $100 to use it and you cannot use more than one certificate per restaurant per month so I don't know why you are thinking of buying four.

Ah, I see. It's not very clear on the restaurant.com website. They list 3 different types of certificate in the Ts & Cs but it just says 'gift certificate' when you look to buy for a specific restaurant. Thanks very much for your help. I might try a cheaper place like the Harley Davidson Cafe first! :D

:T thanks THATS what i wanted to read about. :D I didn't realise they had their own websites i'll go and have a google now.

I probably wouldn't chooooose to go to vegas as i don't 'do' gambling as such but my husband and his friend like to so the other wife and I have agreed to give vegas a go just for the experiance, the rides and the shopping (although i'm not holding out to much for the shopping as i tend to do alot of the glitches and on line offers on here so don't pay full price normally)

Ah now shopping, we can help you there if it's good clobber and shoes you are after. Sometimes it's not only about getting bargains, but about getting stuff you can't get here and some unusual designer gear. We usually spend most days at a mall somewhere for a few hours.
Of course for makeup there is Alta, Sephora, CVS and Walgreens

My OH doesn't gamble at all. We try to go twice a year for as long as possible. We will be there for FOUR months in 2011.

There is more to Las Vegas than the gambling.

I'm considering re-booking for Vegas this year as my trip planned for April last year, 9 nights at the Flamingo for £650 each including return direct flights. got cancelled.

I'm reading a few bad reports on the Flamingo so think I will avoid it.

What is the Tropicana and Excalibur like now as I hear they've been refurbed? Prices seem to have gone up considerably, just looking online for either May or September and 7 nights including direct flights coming in at about £750-850.

There is nothing wrong with the Flamingo, I'm back there in September. I've even stayed at the Imperial Palace (just look at their reviews) and it was very cheap and perfectly acceptable, just insist you stay in the first tower at IP (first set of lifts on the left).

Personally I don't waste money on beautiful hotel rooms with 60" plasma televisions and fancy bathrooms. I sleep, shower and you know what else in the room. I'm not spending a small fortune getting to LV to sit in my hotel room. Apart from that you can pick any hotel and find complaints, some people just enjoy moaning.
    It's someone else's fault.
