AprilHi folks, I'm visiting Vegas at the end of March (can't wait!) and am a bit confused about how the restaurant.com certificates work. I'd like to eat in Stripsteak but we can only buy 4 $50 gift certificates. Can we buy more using my OH's details and use them all? (Stripsteak is pretty expensive!) It says in the Ts & Cs that you can only use 1 restaurant-specific gift certificate per month - does anyone know which types of certificate are used in Stripsteak?
Thanks if you can help.0 -
OctoberSorry almost forgot to mention the gaming. First night went to Bellagio and sat at our usual first night venue of Baccarat bar and put $20 each in the bartop poker machines. T asks for a Lemon Drop, me a beer. We are informed if we play max credits (thats $5 a hand) on the VP they will comp the drinks. !!!!!!, we just walk off without drinks but without paying either. Play giant screen reel-em-in and have a laugh with all of the others playing as well. T hooks a nice fish for $110. Some of the new style goldfish are on offer so we have a go at them as well. Must say the B has a good variety of low denomination table games and slot machines. I play some B/J and walk away about $200 up. Over to T's "home" of PlanetHo and I go on the craps tables. Scoop up $500 profit in an hours play and T hits 4 deuces on a quarter machine deuces wild VP playing 3 credits for I think $175. So nearly a grand up on the first night. Because of the sickness we restricted gambling most nights to slow play and feeling sorry for ourselves which protected the winnings a bit. Lost $100 on craps one night but won it back again the next, blew a few dollars on VP to kill time. Had to play max credits ($1.25) on double bonus poker at the Sports bar at TI to get a free drink and on the 3rd hand hit 4 aces, $200.00 Thank you very much, that will teach you to screw the punters. Did a bit of playing at Flamingo and won $90 bonus on new style Goldfish. Made enough on the trip to get the deposit refunded to my card and pay for the room in cash.
It was nice to have a winning trip, the last couple have been killers and have had the effect of putting me off going back. I guess they are right, the longer you stay in town the more chance they have of recouping any money that you win back. I can imagine that if we had played like we normally do and for longer we might just have given all of the money back. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -

You can only use 1 voucher per visit and one per month at the same place. You can not multiply them up.The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. AprilYou use the gift certificates to by vouchers for individual restaurants

Thanks for that. Almost there I think! So can you use the gift certificates to buy 1 voucher? (e.g. 4 x $50 certs for 1 x $200 voucher.) $50 in Stripsteak won't go far!

MayI thought you were going to be staying at the Carriage House, did you cancel that?
Sorry to hear about Tracy. I would have been the same in that situation.0 -
JulyFlights to Vegas early July are depressing....£810 direct with Virgin
Chances of flights coming down with Oil prices going up etc are pretty slim i imagine?
we booked flights 1-8 July in mid-Feb and got direct flights from LGW with VA for 648pp... and that was the best price I had seen in 2011. i've checked back frequently and they never went below this, in fact 2 days after booking, they went up to 700+ pp.0 -

What are you meaning by "gift certificate" as we may be at cross purposes here?
You can buy a generic GC, ie not for a specific restaurant. You can then use that to buy a restaurant specific certificate. However you don't need to buy a generic one first, you can just go ahead and buy one specifically for Stripsteak.
If you buy a $50 certificate you need to spend $100 to use it and you cannot use more than one certificate per restaurant per month so I don't know why you are thinking of buying four.0
