Morning all. We are looking for some advice on car hire. Whats the deal with the different insurance types in the USA? We are planning on collecting the car at LAX then after a couple of days in LA driving to Vegas and returning the car there after 7 days total. Ideally we want the mustang convertible (I know you can't guarantee this) but put off by when I look on dollar it states that the roof, wheels, windows aren't covered? Is this always the case? Can you get cover?

Sorry but as far as I know there is no cover for these things, yes it is a load of old poop that more and more companies are excluding certain stuff from cover. Thrifty even offer you cover to get a breakdown truck out to you if THEIR car goes belly up, what is that all about.
What ever you do though make sure you go with a British agent that has a zero excess clause on the insurance.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

On the subject of food, first I didn't know that the Wall Mart on Charleston was small! We use that one all the time because there is an IHOP near it and it is across the road from BOA where we have an account and pick up our spends from., but I like the idea of the other one having an In&Out in the car park! As for shopping list, we get Aunt Jemima (forgot the spelling and I am sitting in bed with coffee so can't be bothered to get up and look) pancake mix and syrup, fat free jello pudding mixes, Oscar Meyer wieners, Lucky Charms, Fruit Loops, a few Filet Mignons, (the ones in vacuum packs) A1 steak sauce, big jar of fat free mayo, Betty Crocker cake mixes and frostings, loads of tootsie rolls and then hit the section where they sell the seasonal stuff so we can pick up bags of mixed sweets. Anyone have any more suggestions let's hear them

If you email Claire at the Platinum "clairenagel at lvplatinum.com" and ask nicely she will give you a Princess suite for the same rate. That is where we are off to again in March, was going to be Carriage House but switching that for the longer stay in May.

    Thanks for the email addy.

I emailed her and got asking for a good rate for a princess strip view. They have offered me it for the rack rate price of a solitaire suite ($139) with a comp upgrade to a princess strip view. (would be $169) Not sure wether to take thenm up or not or wait till nearer the time and try again for a bit more discount

Wow that is rubbish, they would give you a comp to a Princess at checkin just by asking. Try her next week, if you know what I mean;)
BTW don't know when you are going but they have an offer on at the moment for $109 a night for a Solitare, someone already posted the link a couple of pages back. I would take that and ask/bribe at check in for the upgrade

LOL Tracy says that about Hershey bars as well. I am not that fussy though and I love Hershey Kisses. If you go around Halloween try and get some candy corn, it will make your teeth bleed!

    Ewwww Hershey !
I think you were raised in the US Stoneman ? I can only think that early exposure to Hershey did permanent damage to your taste buds ;)

The Hershey store in Times Square was even more heaving than the M&Ms store in December. My American friends loved it-I left them to it.

And to get back on topic -I always looks for almond M&Ms (can't stand the peanut ones)
