If the managers email for the Trop is put on here, is there the possibility though that spam places scan these sites looking for displayed email addys ?

Yeah I've been in 2+2 for a few years so I'll check that closer to the date!

Quick question about how to pay entry fee (no worries if the answer is "go to the WSOP website and read it yourself"! I did that and didn't get too far...)

I have the $2500 (£1800) sitting in a savings account. How do I go about entering a tournament? I don't mind entering early, but not sure what the deal is. I could pay on credit card, but if this incurred fees and I have the cash sitting there waiting to pay entry then this would be stupid. Alternatively could I just turn up at Rio's and pay with my HSBC visa debit card? Obviously I'd give HSBC notice this transaction would be about to happen. For some reason I can't see turning up to Rio's hotel with £1800 in travellers cheques as very 2010.....and I certainly don't like the thought of taking £1800 cash.

They won't take a credit card, online or in person. Cash is the master I'm afraid. You can go down at any time and pay either at the main cage or the tourney cage, both are open 24/7.

If you stay at the Rio or any other Harrah's in town show your tourney receipt for the discounted players rate when you check out. I know you were looking at the Venetian, but Caesars is posh as well.

I've never taken TC's with me, get a safe deposit box at the cage of your hotel, usually free if your staying there, I keep flight tickets, CC's in it, I also keep my car and house keys in it nothing worse in the long stay or outside the house having to tip out your suitcase 'cos there in there somewhere' also a bit awkward if you lose your kar keys whilst your out there, arranging someone to bring spares to the aiport. Buying your dollars you can't go far wrong using the travel money maximiser on the front page here! most banks give a crap rate so draw in Sterling and buy at the best rates, I have always done it collect (suspicious moi?), I don't do the order online or postal stuff, just see the string on Crown Currency, imagine how pee'd off you'd be if your dollars haven't arrived before you go, 8 days by the pool perhaps, the fiance might like it but you'd look like a tiger after getting a tan with your face scrunched up, all the stripes!! And I really think she'd appreciate you being such a bundle of laughs:o

It might give you the shivers having all that cash on you, but I would suggest when you go take a cab. Don't worry when you win it as they'll give you a limo to haul all that cash out of there, but more than likely they'll comp a suite and keep you there until your lady has spent it all.

You can pre-register on the wsop site to guarantee your entry but I don't think the HORSE has ever been capped. How about starting a string on 2+2 you might be pleasantly surprised.

Oh I still stock up-I just bring it all home :D

Yes, us too...we have a standard US foods shopping list that must be revisted each trip...shortly I shall be making a stock check and sorting out the list for this trip.

Our latest find is Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce.

And yes, while in Vegas we always have the chilled, liquid version of the french vanilla Coffee Mate on hand...normally procured at Walmart, but my hubby just remembered that they had it at the ABC Store at PH before so now he is all excited. But coming home, we have about 10 bottles of the powdered versions in our suitcase. :) One day they will start selling it here, other than in the American food shops that charge a fortune for it.

Really looking forward to trying PH!

Sorry Kolo, on the hotel front, if you go to the main wsop site and click into reservations, it will allow you to book the players rates, you will still need to show your registration receipt to confirm the rate. Caesars is about $1,250 for the 8 days and the Rio about $1,150.

Just had a look at the schedule and the 8 game is looking sexy, it is a new event so you might have to watch the dealers a bit as they come from all over and some can be a bit lacking, especially around the pot limit rotations. and pot limit is alien to the straight up Yanks, limit they like cos they can't go broke and no limit they like as they can always ship it in.

Watch any table for a while and you'll spot the limit players easily, especially at low blinds cash, they have a tendency to min raise regardless of what's in the pot and what a more significant bet might do to the pot odds and protecting their hand. Whose fault is it if they give you the odds to draw and you take their money, they usually don't see it as being their fault, they do give you plenty of opportunities to make +EV plays. A tourney as you know it can and is different, lose your chips and it's bye bye.

Playing straight up in any pot limit games is always as a Brit or Euro great value, if you've got it then bet it don't be worried about losing a caller as they see us and pot limit as crazy as each other. I always try not to speak at all when I sit down, not because I'm a misog but I don't want to drop my accent on them when you do speak see the difference in the attitude of the players as in the same way we view online Nordics they view us. It's an edge and you'll need all you can get.

you'll catch the drift when you're there. watching for education as a railer is always informative, especially if you can get to see a table with some big names on, some games can be very loud especially with booze flowing and the yeah haw crowd in town, the get quieter as you take their money. You can't win all the hands but you can win the money.

I'll look out for Sweet Baby Ray's -as our tastes are so similar :) We like the liquid better too but it's not practical to ship home.
In May I think my Idaho friend may be driving down -in which case Walmart will get hit really hard (I'd shop in Idaho but I think the charity events there will keep me too busy. so probably just Melaleuca stuff from there)

While we are on the subject of American food and Walmart, where is the best Walmart to go to from the strip and is it easy to find??

We normally go to the one on Sunset - it's right by Sunset Station...there's an In-and-Out burger in the parking lot...there's a Best Buy in the shopping centre across the street and Galleria Mall (non-outlet) is also just up the road.

We also went to the new one on Boulder Highway not long ago - right near/across the street from Eastside Cannery I think.

Assuming you have a car, both of these will be easy to find...you can check for exact addresses on walmart.com.

We've also been to the one on Charleston a few times. It's smaller and not as new, but very straightforward to get there - north on the strip to Charleston, west on Charleston...drive awhile and you will see it on your left. We normally go to this one if we don't have plans to venture too far that day otherwise. Last trip I think we popped out to this one our first day to get a coffee maker knowing we would do the proper shop later in the trip.

We prefer Super Walmart locations to just the standard ones.

I think the one on Eastern is one of the others that some here prefer.

Regardless, I really love their frosted sugar cookies from the bakery and now I really want one. :)

Last year we had the 24h buffet deal that includes the following locations:

    * Carnival World Buffet at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino
    * Flavors at Harrah’s Las Vegas
    * Paradise Garden Buffet at Flamingo Las Vegas
    * Emperor’s Buffet at Imperial Palace
    * Le Village Buffet at Paris Las Vegas
    * Lago Buffet at Caesars Palace
    * Spice Market Buffet at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino

We had once dinner at the Lago Buffet (could be better),
breakfast at the Flavors (highly recommended), lunch at
the Spice Market Buffet (brilliant) and dinner at the Flamingo
(never again). It was planned that we go for dinner to Le Village
but the queue was too long. Does anybody know how popular this
24h buffet deal is right now, still long queues? Anyone, an idea when
it is the best time to queue for dinner in Le Village.

    Thanks!

the price has gone up a lot...$39.99 for Total Rewards members, $45.99 for non-members...since it's free to join Total Rewards, it's a no-brainer.

From what we saw at Planet Hollywood and Paris last October it was still extremely popular - very long queues at both. We haven't been to the Paris buffet for dinner, but I would imagine the the earlier the better...once it gets busy and the dining room is full, the queue moves that much more slowly.
