Ten minutes walk from Rio to Gold Coast ?????

You must walk really slowly ! :)

If I was going to grab a cab to escape I'd head for the Palms though

(BTW koloko said 8th-16th so won't be the NHLE if that's the 18th & 20th)

From the Amazon room it takes you that to get through the casino alone, the Palms works as does the Irish bar between the Rio and GC.

There are only to sets of odds offered at Vegas casinos, 3:2 and 6:5, so if you are looking for a table that pays 6:4 you are correct, you will not fand any and your own quote from WOO even states that "some" casinos are offering 6:5, not that it is all that is on offer. Every casino that I walk into offers 3:2 at lower levels, nickle and up. I play a lot of BJ and have been playing it on the strip for donkeys years. Bellagio offers it at $5 & $10 level along the main walkway, PH offers it at $10 & $15 on all tables by the centre bar, it's only the pleasure pit that pays 6:5 Flamingo offers it at $5 and $10 on the tables around by the cashiers desk, it's only at the tables at the entrance with the girl dealers that are 6:5. Paris also by the long bar, changes to 6:5 on Saturday, but still normal odds along the cobble walk. Ballys all levels everywhere. Caesars at $15 with the added bonus of late surrender by the craps tables, only 6:5 at the pu$$ycat doll pit. Shall I go on. And the line in WOO about 100 hands an hour. Unless you were playing at a table on your own that would never happen. Casinos try and push the dealers to deal 60 hands an hour, and that is going some.

Don't forget those places that only offer 1:1 (WHAT!!) on single deck BJ, they must have the PT Barnum quote as their company motto, you know suckers and breaks.

    Agree with photome.

I'm not sure if you're speaking specificaly of Tropicana, but netflights is most certainly not always the cheapest - nor is booking through a UK agent...sometimes, yes...always, hardly.

Simple random test - I checked one hotel, one set of dates - Paris, 6th June for 7 nights.

    Harrah's F&F - $739.20...£457.99 at current exchange rate
    Netflights - £568.40

That's 24% more expensive going via Netflights...or £110 for those who want to look at it that way.

It pays to check multiple options...many have found the higher end hotels cheaper at cityandshow, etc...some have found flights + hotel to be good deals against pricing up separately...but to suggest that booking through UK agents is always cheaper is just silly.

I agree Netflights aint the cheapest at all, i was on about other agents (like travelrepublic for example)....
and comparing rate to rate, not F&F rate (how do you get that anyway, dont they ask who your friend/family member is ? :D )

What i was trying to say was, the same as everyone else is saying, compare rates direct with the hotels as well as through agents...... And yup, you get more perks booking direct, but then the 2for1's, etc etc you get booking direct, you also get from some of the UK agents, ebookers as an example......
Dont forget, i went straight to the hotel i'm staying at directly (just like you say to do, but had my dad foot the bill for the hotel anyway which resulted in him booking via an agent, but still blagged free show passes from the lady at the Trop....)
Oh, and Paris normal rates are $918 for that week, on a compare basis, not F&F rate :)

Stripburger is there, go, go go..... :)

I'm being tempted by the Stripburger offer, given the good reviews...

Just wanted to check - we are going in August. Is there an expiry date for these restaurant.com offers? I couldn't find anything that says this on the site....

Want to be sure that if I buy now, I'll be able to use it with the family in the Summer!

No expiry date..... :) It's actually the first one I've ever bought too, but some of the guys here have been using these for a few years.

Got it! Thanks for your help Mooky.
It's about £15 off a £21 minimum spend (plus tip), but costing about £6. So a total of about £9 saved.... and of course the kids are going to be very happy with me.
  • I'm in the process of planning a Vegas trip for me and 5 mates...the dates we are all available are:

    Monday 4th July - Sunday 10th July
    Saturday 6th August - Friday 19th August

So we are looking for some 5, 6, 7 day window then where we can get a good deal. Flying out on the 4th July is more expensive cos of Independence Day. Stress!

    Hey Rory
Generally hotel rates are higher on Friday and Saturday nights in Vegas and I'm sure Ind. Day will certainly increase rates. Most of us book flights and then look around for hotel deals, preferably refundable as offers can sometimes come up closer to travel dates. Not sure if you've had a look at page 1 but it has some great info and links to help you get your searching started :)

Gracie - I am dreaming of that burger already. I was going to go there this trip anyway, so pleased to save even just a few pounds. Think I'm going to have the one with hickory sauce (may have looked through the menu this morning.... :rotfl:)
