No, it isn't but some people like to leave work on time-or earlier given the opportunity, and get ready and go out (especially on NYE)
If I was asked if i'd like to go home early on NYE, I'd be out of that door like a shot.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

But I don't blame the staff. Of course they would be out the door like a shot.
It's Asda management who should use their brains. Perhaps paying staff until they clock out etc.
Incidentally, if they are getting minimum wage only, and they have to work an hour unpaid (because of selfish customers - I have seen it from the other side too), it will push them below minimum wage.
Businesses just don't care about customers anymore.
I've half a mind to reject the whole order - I just don't want to go there again to collect it.

Sadly... and its gunna come as a shock here but... its your job! =/
Your paid to help the customer and if they happen to stroll in 5 minutes before you close you gotta wait, everyone suffers it. I've worked in call centres where i've been stuck on the phone for almost an hour after my finishing time. Thats life!
im paid from the start of my shift to the end ,on a sunday thats 4pm when we close ,to be honest anyone browsing at 3-55 pm really need to get a hobby ! my god shops are open long enough as it is without being a pratt just because you can !This is a system account and does not represent a real person. In my own case, I'm paid until 16.30 to help customers so at 16.30, I stop helping and go home. Were I given the option to leave early (especially on a special occasion) - I'm gone
End of story.0 -
I'd be willing to bet that the staff rota'd to finish at closing time pulled sickies yesterday, and those contracted to finish earlier in the night did so, and the person in charge of sorting the rotas didn't notice until it was too late to get anyone to work later.0

So what you're saying is 3:55pm on a Saturday = OK, 3:55pm on a Sunday = Not OK and shoppers at this time are prats.
Why?
Maybe it's more convenient for them to shop on the Sunday. Maybe they simply choose to go on the Sunday. It's hardly relevant, both customers are paying for your wages. If the shop is open, you should expect customers.0 -

If I went shopping on a Sunday I expect to be done by 4 pm when the shop closes. It's hardly relevant, both customers are paying for your wages. If the shop is open, you should expect customers.
I think you'll find the point being made was if someones working hours is until 4 pm after 4 pm they won't be getting paid any wages. Makes the "I pay your wages" argument a bit weak!0 -
Maybe, just maybe the store manager let some staff go early so they could get home, especially if they were using public transport or taxi's...I believe the buses were operating a Sunday service in some areas.0
