No Buying Toiletries in Jan 2011 !!!!

Hi MoneyQueen, thanks for that. I haven't tried it, I've only ever tried Coalface from Lush (saw it recommended in a magazine). I can't stand the smell of the shop, it makes me feel sick:o. hence the couple of times I've been in I've just grabbed what I wanted and left in a hurry :rotfl:. Might well give it a try though. Do you use the lid on your soap dish? My mum offered me one but I declined as the top wouldn't fit over the soap. We don't have anything on show in the bathroom, only the shower gel out in the shower and the bubble bath on the side of the bath. Everything else goes in the bathroom cabinet so it would need to have a lid or it would be messy . Not that I'm fussy or anything :rotfl:
Hi Turtle, I know what you mean about the smell. DH can't stand inside the shop for more than a minute but happily uses the stuff that I buy from there. My soap case with the face soap is without a lid as I don't keep it in the shower. But I could put the lid if I want as I always cut a small piece out of the 100g that i buy at one time. The small piece lasts me a long time. All the body soaps are in cases with lids as they are in the shower. I generally have 2/3 in there at one time.
All the other stash is in a Plastic box which is stored in the bathroom cabinet. Everything in the box is individually wrapped in cling film.0 -
lynseydee, I'm really sorry to hear that. Get yourself a bit bottle of wine/other prefered drink and drink it while burning some of those tealights. xxxPlease call me 'Pickle'

I made a discovery today.
I'd bought my son the Original Source 2 in 1 Orange and Ginger Hair and Body Wash for Men but it's much too fruity a scent for his taste.
I tried it as shampoo, using the standard McCulloch Method and it was great. I deliberately didn't apply any conditioner and my hair is nicely soft and glossy with this alone.
It's now been moved from the side of the bath where the shower gel lives, to the back of the bath shelf with the rest of the shampoos.
I am pleased, as having vowed not to buy shampoo, one of the bottles I have to use up - L'Oreal Elvive Full Restore 5 - doesn't actually suit me that well and I won't want to use it too often. The Law of S*d decrees that it was, of course, the most expensive of all the shampoos that I have.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -

I've just gone through and rejigged my list and in a year my toiletries have gone from 522 to 497 with 154 of those items being new in 2010, although 100 of those items are tea lights.
Well done on powering through the list :T
Might take me a little longer to use stuff up this year as my husband told me on Saturday that he doesn't want to be with me anymore. Some of the items above are his which I need to take off my list but will do that when I get round to sorting his stuff out.

I hate throwing things away but I seem to have quite a collection of partially used hair styling products. Almost all were given to me by my mother who bought them, tried them, didn't like them and passed them on to me. I don't like them either so what else can I do with them, other than pour them down the drain ? (not really a good idea as we have a septic tank)
P.S. I don't have many friends of female relatives so can't palm them off on anyone else I know£2012 in 2012 Challenge £2051.06£2013 in 2013 Challenge £500 -

I have a pot for dark angels and then a box for dry soap and a box for wet soap. The lids keep them dry and safe and they can stack so take up far less room that 2/3 soap dishes. The only problem I have found is they do need wiping out every so often, especially the wet soap box but nothing too bad.
Thanks PAP, that is a BRILLIANT idea:T! I was looking at the small cute ones in Lakeland the other day wondering what I could put in one :rotfl:, now I know! I will be MSE though and buy a bog standard one rather than Lakeland at no doubt 3 times the price;). Thank you!
Also, thanks to others with suggestions for this and for mentioning that you cut your pieces down. I hadn't thought of doing that, but if I decide to try the Fresh Farmacy (very mixed reviews on the Lush site - swinging from 1 star to 5 stars) then I will cut the piece up.0 -
