big hugs Lyndseydee from me too
A bath tonight has resulted in some UU to report:
S&G Clean Girls WIBA: yes love this stuff, smells gorgeous, lathers well...don't need to buy another one just yet as have one more of these and 2 clean on me in stash
S&G Clean Mary WIBA: yes if it hadn't been discontinued GRRRR am off to boots tomorrow to see if they have any left as I'm now out of face wash...and if they do have any I'll be bulk buying!
S&G Flake Away 50ml (mini): WIBA: no need at the moment as I still have several body scrubs in stash (Including another mini and full sized version of this) but I wouldn't buy it again because while I like this there are others I prefer more
FCUK whipped body cream: WIBA: defo, have been using it for a while and love the smell, love the way it goes on and makes me feel sooth as a baby's bum, no need at the moment though as I have another one in stash and about 13 other body butters to get through first! and I'm not opening another one until I have finished the S&G body lite lotion already open (which I'm not enjoying because I like something a bit thicker)*wonders when they will make dressing gowns acceptable day wear?*No new toiletries challenge - use up the stash first!NSD Jan 2/150 -
UU - dove supreme fine silk beauty bath - WIBA?...meh, maybe...the top got messy after each use as the stuff kinda dribbled, the cap didn't stop the stuff coming out very well once you'd put what you wanted in the bath - if that makes sense?! lol! was quite annoying at some points...but the stuff itself smells nice etc, but I think I'll stick to my usual cheaper stuff0

Lyndseydee, massive, massive hugs from me. Been there, done that and got T-shirt. You will be ok, but it's a big knock to hear the words that you heard. This board will be a huge source of both practical and emotional support, I am sure. Wishing you strength.
Many thanks to all those who commented on my dilemma with my friend who frequently asks for toiletries. I thought that a good strategy might be to let her know that I've decided to economise and that I won't be buying any new toiletries but will be using up what I have. Then if she does ask, I can say that my having to buy one to replace what I will be giving her would defeat the object.
I like to see my challenges through and she knows this, so I think it will work.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... Just showing my face to say nothing new to report today despite going into Boots today. The only thing I bought were some of those head soother strips to try for a banging head that I have had for a couple of days.Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0

So out of fear of running out of things I would stock up on showergels, shampoos etc just because I could. It kind of became a comfort blanket knowing that if god forbid I was out of a job or had no money for whatever reason I could at least have a little luxury. Also thinking it was a bargain buying stuff on bogof etc added to it. Thankfully I now am breaking this habit!
Its definitely worth thinking back what could have started it and the worst thing is we dont even realise we are doing it! Thank god for MSE giving me a kick up the backside! :Tnoelphobic wrote: »I did get into the habit last year of buying toiletries for my 22 year old son, until he pointed out that I was feeding my habit by proxy  I am now only buying him smellies for birthdays and Xmas and only got him 2 small sets this Xmas, one S&G and one FCUK. Good job really as he got more gift sets from other people and we definitely haven't got storage space for 2 stashes
I have probably bought more for my 22 DS than anyone this year he goes through showergel like I dont know what, he wont use a scrub (even thought I bought him a black one as I thought it looked manly) so I am sure he probably wastes more than he uses.No UUs today but I'm getting very close to the bottom of a lippy. It might finish tonight as I'm at work tonight.
Do people quit their lipsticks when you can no longer just put on their lips or do they then resort to using a lip brush? I have a couple of lippys I can no longer get any more and still use with a lip brush - don't you hate it when you find a colour you like and they discontinue it.
Big hugs to Lynseydee, seems worse somehow at this time of the year.0 -
Ive never got that far down a lippy - so cant help you with that Im afraid akh43.... but the JASON lip balm that i had i dug around with a finger nail for AGES before i finally admitted defeat with !!
welshgirl - Im not trying to corrupt you, honest - but in my two old lush packs (years old) I had two 10% vouchers - as I say, they were YEARS old, (at least 2 - they went out of date in 2008!!) but if you wanted to try the vouchers to see if you can use them,PM me and I'll pop them in the post to you??
Good plan And - hope it works !!
welcome newbies - cant believe we are on page 14 already!!
(have another hug lyndseydee - a huge big squeezy one)
Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup0 -
MoneyQueen wrote: »Hi Turtle,
Have you tried "Fresh Farmacy" from Lush? I also found Coalface made my face a tiny bit tight but fresh farmacy works great.
I use an old fashioned soap case to store it in the bathroom - the low price one from Sainsburys

Hi MoneyQueen, thanks for that. I haven't tried it, I've only ever tried Coalface from Lush (saw it recommended in a magazine). I can't stand the smell of the shop, it makes me feel sick:o. hence the couple of times I've been in I've just grabbed what I wanted and left in a hurry :rotfl:. Might well give it a try though. Do you use the lid on your soap dish? My mum offered me one but I declined as the top wouldn't fit over the soap. We don't have anything on show in the bathroom, only the shower gel out in the shower and the bubble bath on the side of the bath. Everything else goes in the bathroom cabinet so it would need to have a lid or it would be messy . Not that I'm fussy or anything :rotfl:0 -
Well im still trying to uncover just how much of a stash i have... i've boxes all over the bedroom and am trying to get them into some kind of order.... i've also decluttered my bathroom cabinet, around the bath and the window ledge which managed to fill a small bin with things that have gone out of date or that i've had for years but will never ever use.
Im coming to the conclusion that im not going to need to buy anything for a long time yet... worst part is that half the stuff i have isn't things i want to use but they must have been cheap enough for me to buy them in the first place.
Im no where near finished yet but i'll give you a rough idea of what i have unopened:
6 deodorants
2 body sprays
7 deodorants for OH
8 shower gels (i know i have so many more of these... they must be hiding in the same box)
11 bath foams
7 packs facial wipes
3 packs baby wipes
9 hand washes
2 moisture creams
8 toners
7 cleansing lotions
4 eye make up removers
1 facial wash
3 blackhead cleansers
1 cooling eye roll on
2 hair mousse
4 heat defence sprays
12 shampoos
8 conditioners
1 foot mask
Thats 106 items already  that is not good!!! im never going to use all that stuffwell not this year anyway! That doesn't include my collection of soap and glory stuff, any of my xmas pressies or body butters which i have a fair few.
I don't even want to think about my make up.
Going to go finish going through some more boxes
Sorry to hear you are having such a hard time Lynseydee, thinking of you n sending hugs

it's such a conundrum:eek:noelphobic wrote: »are you supposed to use the serums before, after or instead of moisturiser:question:
and scrub on wet or dry skin and before, after or instead of shower gel:question:
And use scrub on wet skin, doesn't matter if it's before or after gel, as long as you rinse properly.Might take me a little longer to use stuff up this year as my husband told me on Saturday that he doesn't want to be with me anymore. Some of the items above are his which I need to take off my list but will do that when I get round to sorting his stuff out.
I know it hurts, but try not to do anything rash x0 -
I find it too messy - how does anyone store soaps these days? I've been putting it in a plastic sandwich bag :rotfl::rotfl:but it's clearly not ideal.
Turtle I use clip and lock clear boxes. They were 4 small ones in poundland a few months ago, although they were there a few weeks ago too. I have a pot for dark angels and then a box for dry soap and a box for wet soap. The lids keep them dry and safe and they can stack so take up far less room that 2/3 soap dishes. The only problem I have found is they do need wiping out every so often, especially the wet soap box but nothing too bad.0
