You've all seen my list and i've got about 5 shampoos and about 8 conditioners so why oh why oh WHY did i have to spend 5mins in Asda yesterday talking myself out of buying two bottle of tresemme (which seems to last years) just because they were two for a Fiver which is a good price. I tried talking myself into buying them for my sister and her girls just so i could buy them even though they mostly need conditioner and i've loads of extras in my box.
Thankfully i walked away but it's madness!
I've just realised that during my student days and later i always seemed to have a black sack full of soaps, toiletries which have never been used. This hoarding appears to have gone on for a long time.
I also think some of my problem is that i get things because i feel i ought to be using them and then i don't
For me personally hoarding and buying for the sake of buying stems from when I had little or no money. So out of fear of running out of things I would stock up on showergels, shampoos etc just because I could. It kind of became a comfort blanket knowing that if god forbid I was out of a job or had no money for whatever reason I could at least have a little luxury. Also thinking it was a bargain buying stuff on bogof etc added to it. Thankfully I now am breaking this habit!
Its definitely worth thinking back what could have started it and the worst thing is we dont even realise we are doing it! Thank god for MSE giving me a kick up the backside! :T0 -

I did get into the habit last year of buying toiletries for my 22 year old son, until he pointed out that I was feeding my habit by proxy  I am now only buying him smellies for birthdays and Xmas and only got him 2 small sets this Xmas, one S&G and one FCUK. Good job really as he got more gift sets from other people and we definitely haven't got storage space for 2 stashes3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -
are you supposed to use the serums before, after or instead of moisturiser:question:

Hmm, not sure about the serum, but I always use scrub on wet skin (I think it might hurt on dry!) and still use shower gel as well. HTH (a bit)0 -

I have been good today, doesn't happen very often. I have looked at the Body Shop sale with the extra 20% discount code and have resisted. I haven't even stocked up on presents for later in the year. :T
me too, however I didn't resist before Christmas when the 30% code was working :rotfl:everyone on the Grabbit board is going on about buying 3 sets for £12, but just before Christmas when the sale launched you could get 3 sets for £10.50 :jplenty of presents sortedLife is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.

Another UU to report:
Lush Freeze s/g: WIBA? Yes, I like the Lush gels, however I am in the process of selling a lot of my lush stash as I wont get through it quickly enough!
Also I've decided to pay a £1 into a pot every time I finish a product. This money is going to go towards a new laptop fund for sometime next year! And yes I have that much stuff to use up!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -
Happy New Year everyone.
Long time reader, occasionally poster. Desperately trying not to buy any more toiletries as have way too much and accidentally brought the S&G tote bag before Christmas opps. Am seriously thinking of returning it as i don't think i will be using any of it until next year.
Am almost at the end of my stash for 2010 but am itching to open my boxes for 2011, cant even remember what i put away now.
Noelphobic, personally i think you use serum before moisturiser so your skin can absorb more of the benefits of the serum.
Body scrub i would use instead of shower gel, perhaps once a week. similar to how you use face scrubs. HTHs0 -
No! This never happens to me - I always shampoo twice and condition the long bits of my hair really, with only a very small amount on my head (IYSWIM). Conditioner always seems to last me an age, and I've got 3 on the go at the moment which I never do with other products. I've also got a huge Pantene just added to the stash that my mum tried and didn't like:eek:
On the bright side, 2 UU today
Sanex dermo moisturiser 500ml - WIBA? Yes, we often buy Sanex stuff especially if it's on offer somewhere.
Avon Anew Clinical Thermafirm Face Lifting Cream - this was a free sample I'd had for a while, but it's lovely. I used the packet over 2 applications but could easily have got 4 out of it (just wanted to put on here that I'd used it :rotfl:). It made my face really lovely and soft, sank in easily with no residue (which is amazing considering how much I slathered on :rotfl:). I've just had a look on the Avon website and it's on offer at the moment for £13 from £20 so I'm going to order some (oh god, I never would have done that before this challenge!). I usually use Olay which I'll continue to use in the morning as it has an SPF, but think I'll start using this at night time as no SPF.
Glad to hear you like the Thermafirm stuff - it is nice isn't it, for my money it's one of the best of the Anew moisturisers. I hate to lead you into further temptation, but you can order a free mini pot of it at the moment too when ordering a full size - try code 08284 - at least you can if ordering from the Campaign 2 book - might be worth checking whether you have a local Avon rep, as that way you save the postage from ordering online too. If you're anywhere near South/West Essex or North East London, PM me and I might be able to help.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
