  • off topic, the BS holdall - the one thing that is holding me back is the size of it, i want to stay clear of the shop - what size would you say it was to those that have ordered it?

haven't been on this for ages and haven't used up anything either :( however I'm going on holiday on mon and instead of buying all new toilitries I've dug out a few holiday hair products, a wee pack of simple face wipes and some half used hawaiian tropic body butter and aloe vera after sun gel, so thats me saved some dough atleast!

May I join this thread? I just did a count of all toiletries and makeup and found 177 items!! Many are GWP's, but I live alone so it's mine all mine! Admittedly, some are in the presents drawer, but that's still cluttering the place up.

I can report a SPLUTTERER: No. 7 Protect and Perfect hand cream.

OT, I think we need to start a list like this for cleaning products; while looking for toiletries I realised how many of them I have! Deep down I think I buy cosmetics feeling that just buying them will make me look better and buying cleaning products will make my home clean!

I did just that when I found this challenge last year. I have now been working my way through my cleaning product stash and my ridiculously sized stationery stash (I can never resist a gorgeous notebook). :o

Thanks Kaz I have ebayed in the past so have my little system of doing it, it's just I have had no time at all since the Christmas break, like I mentioned, one evening a week and no weekends, so have to cram everything else into that little time space. I literally can't get 15 mins to do anything as something else pops up - it is all washed, pressed, folded just waiting to photograph it and upload - but its so mind numbingly boring I have no inclination to do it, nor do I fancy starting it at half 11 at night when I have to be up at 7 :o

Oh well if i want the money I'm sure the time will make itself!x

Sounds very familiar - could you write descriptions and save in a word document at a quiet point at work/if you do get 15mins at home and the the uploading bit is really quick - I've done this lots of times before - saved up photos and listings and then uploaded on a Sunday night - much easier for me.

  • I'm new to this thread, but I must admit that I only came to have a look because on the 2011 decluttering thread lots of people were talking about the toiletries challenge *nosey smiley*

I must admit I don't tend to hoard toiletry stuff (sensitive skin plus expensive tastes mean it would be difficult/pricey to do!!) but I do often rip out those little sample sachets from magazines, most of which I can't use because of my sensitive skin, so then they hang around in my dressing table drawer, unused. But I gave a load to my Mum at Christmas (it wasn't her present!) to get rid of them.

I've got some splutterers - first since restarting this challenge. S&G day facial moisturiser and greatest scrub of all - have another scrub but this is my only facial moisturiser  May have to pay a visit to boots and use some of my points!

Getting through so much body moisturiser at the moment and hand cream - my skin is so dry - the hand food on my desk at work is going down as I've just applied it on the top of my chest and back (I have my own office so no weird looks!) Not a bad thing as I have quite a lot of body butter/moisturiser -well not by some of your standards!

Thanks Marta! The photographer was really clever, angled me at a very flattering angle. It was taken about six months ago.

:bdaycake: littlepinkstars . I'm really looking forward to reading about your ins ... :D:D

Thanks Roshy, yes it is Andrea or And, I answer to both!
(Hmm, do I go auburn again ... we'll see!)

    And.

Hi And - if it helps your decision, I wouldn't have twigged that it wasn't your natural hair colour until you said about colouring it. Really does suit you. :)

Well I wanted brazil nut butter, my fave and it is usually not available any more! but i'm sure the spice vanilla would have slipped in 'to test the scent', a few holdalls 'for presents' and some gift cubes as they were 'too much of a bargain'. :rotfl:

stay strong girls i'm sure there will be bigger and better offers very soon!!x

And isn't this exactly what those of us who've been here a while have found? There always IS another offer round the corner, and I suspect for a lot of us that mantra has been one of the most powerful things in stopping us buying on impulse. Every now and again a genuinely REALLY good glitch comes along - the Tesco 3 for £2 haircare offer last year springs to mind - and then it would be foolish to ignore, but usually, it's just more of the same. BS are a good example - they are always doing these 30% or 50% offers so unless there is something you *really* need, there is no need to panic and buy!
do any of you know if there is a thread for UU food supplies before splurging unneccessarily in the supermarket?

Hi Cutiepieabf - we know one another from the Avon thread on the other board I think! Welcome aboard this challenge - no doubt like me you will have the odd FOC "IN" to report thanks to creative ordering! :D

A few years ago we had a thread similar to the subject you mention over on the OS board - it was a "Don't throw food away Challenge" and ran very successfully for a while, then IIRC it got merged into the storecupboard challenge thread and that moves on so fast the original posters on the other thread gave up in the end. I tried to re-start it but each time the BG's insisted on merging it (even after I'd explained that it was a completely different challenge!) so I gave up. :(
When my current stash has went down a bit I was going to splash out on that Michium roll on as so many of you have recommended it. Think I might toss in a few cans of the basic as well.

I think you mean "a can to try and see if I like it" don't you?! ;) It might not suit you, so if you buy several initially, then find it doesn't, you'll just get stuck with it and it will turn into a nightmare to get shot of.

One small UU - free sample sachet of Nivea Visage natural beauty radiance boosting moisuriser. WIB? No. It smells really lovely and was very moisurising but it left your face looking like it had got in the way of a metallic car spray paint! :rotfl::rotfl:Very odd...

Didn't it just! This was one of the products I had sachets of when I was on hols last year - I liked the exfoliator that was in one section, and the eye cream was so good I bought a tube when we got home, but the moisturiser was awful! :rotfl:

Belated Happy Birthdays to Littlepinkstars and Hazz!

Two UU's for me here and a couple of IN's.

    UU'
Toni & Guy shampoo - one of the ones in the sort of pouch arrangement, which is excellent for managing to get the last bits out of so full marks on the packaging. WIBA? I seem to remember that this was a lot better when it was newer - by the time I dragged it out the cupboard to finish it had gone slightly gritty feeling and didn't lather much. Still left my hair feeling quite nice though so yes, if on a decent offer I might well buy it in the future.

Also a No 7 Uplifting Day Cream - WIBA? - No, it was a GWP sized one thankfully as I really wasn't keen - it just seemed to sit on my skin rather than sinking in, and left my face feeling and looking quite greasy. I ended up last night scraping the last bit out of the pot (which was also a nightmare to get stuff out of!) and slathering it on my face, neck & decolletage as a night cream just to get rid of it!

I already have a John Frieda BB shampoo out to use along with its matching conditioner, and I am going to drag a small Avon ANEW Clinical Thermafirm cream out of my "travel stuff box" to use as it's been hanging about for a while.

    IN:
The Avon Dry skin SOS lip cream I mentioned before turned up with my order, along with a Cashmere Finish foundation - these are both HG products for me, the lip cream has been discontinued () and the foundation was on a very good price offer (cost me £3) so I view both of these as essentials. The other was a Planet Spa trial size body butter - I love these and this one will go into my travel bits to take on holiday with me. It was also FOC. :A I am ordering another foundation in the next campaign as I should hopefully be able to get that for £3 also, and they are unlikely to bring it that far down in price again in the near future.

With there now being quite a bit of MrEH's stuff in the cupboard as well as mine (the contents of his "year supply of" box at christmas went in there) I'm really starting to notice space being created now which is rewarding!

Oh gawd, don't get me started on the cleaning products! I made elderflower champagne last year. The first batch was wonderful and the second was vinegar. I had 38 bottles of it too! I have been using them to descale everything in sight and cleaning the loos with it too when they get scaly. I'm down to 9 bottles (I think) left. It's overtaking my utility and making it a mess in there so I can't wait until it's gone.
Of for a lie down in a bit. Banged my head on a cupboard this morning and have a big lump and cut on it. I hadn't put on my face by then so at least I won't have to touch it to remove makeup later. Lordy, it hurt so much that I actually squeaked and proceded to hit the deck where I lay crying for a good few minutes before I could face going to check it in the mirror. Well, TBH, I couldn't actually let go of it before then. That's going to look good when I pick up DS from school later!
I got something in my eye last year and it ended up swelling up and gave me a black eye 2 days later, I got some looks for that too. Thankfully, we all chat at school so they know I'm just clumsy Well they all say that, you know....! ;)(I would like to blame sleep deprivation from working nights but broke my arm in a museum when I was a child and I didn't work nights then- snort!) rather than getting beaten up.
Am nearing the end of the botanics lotion. Shame, I like this. Will shop from my stash when it's gone though. I got my foot file out last night too and had a good session on them. Then moisturised them and went to bed. Can't wait to be able to line dry, I lurve line fresh bedding. Yep - gorgeous isn't it!Tumble drier will never match up to that will it?

ETA: Roshy, how about sorting the wardrobe in 15 minute bursts each day. 15 minute bursts are a FAB way getting things done - it truly is amazing what you can get done in just that short space of time!Sort out what's going and what's staying. Then the stuff that's staying can go away and the rest can stay out. The next free moment, sort into chuck, charity and ebay piles. Chuck can go instantly (into recycling box), charity put in car/ by front door to remove from house next day and ebay can be started as soon as you have a chance.
When I ebayed a vast list of stuff, I got it all out, washed dried and ironed it, then I photographed it all. I then folded it all up and put it on our unused sofa. I spent the evening and the following evening listing it all. I got far quicker as I went along though. Then I just waited for the auctions to end. As soon as I had a bid on something, I wrapped it and put it into the envelope ready to post (Not sealed so I could check I was sending the correct item). As the auctions ended, I wrote out address labels and went to PO (after ensuring paypal was cleared first of course). I'm sure tara can give you some tips for ebaying though, she's earned shedloads :D

She really has, hasn't she! Just don't let her give you tips on the next stage though, spending a lot of the profit on BS Glitches! (sorry Tara!) :D

Kaz hope your head is better soon. xx

Welcome to the newbies of which I am one myself and so far I can say everyone has been very welcoming and supportive :)

I'm very tempted by BS strawberry holdall for only £14 incl. free del. but so far I haven't succumed. Don't know if it will last though, I have to keep telling myself I really don't need it I just received my S&G fantasic value bundle and have so much of this plus other BS items to get through.

No UU's to report, my hbm shampoo and conditioner are both hanging on in there annoyingly as I have lined up S&G Glad hair day and hair supply to use next... ho hum i'll get there eventually. ;)

    *sighs and collects megaphone*

3 binned nail varnishes last night. They were unbranded, from those big make up boxes? I opened one of the boxes last night and nothing had been touched- all sealed up. I've had it for 2/3 years (at least!) I'm going to try and collect all of my make up in one area and make a go of getting that used up too.

One splutterer: an Avon "so something or other" body spray. Seems like i've had it forever, i think in reality it's 4/5 years. Still pretty shocking though!

Welcome 2manybooks :D My OH swears by Vosene (boring I know :p) but he gets ever so antsy if I buy anything else for him. I have tried him on the Asda own brand medicated shampoo and T-gel (I think it's called that) and I think they work just as well for him. I think Vosene now do different 'flavours' too not just the 'I smell like a hospital' version :rotfl:

ooooh don't start me on stationary and papers - I have a whole room dedicated to paper  and yesterday I found a really nice notebook, still in it wrappings, just chucked in an abandoned handbag :o OH calls our mantlepiece my 'reference library' as I have a stack of notepads and diaries on there - all in use. There's my xmas and birthday book, my bills book, my organising diary, my personal diary, my notes book, my lists book and my 'it doesn't go in any other book' book :rotfl::rotfl:

    Back on topic :o

I went 'shopping' on eBay last night :o added everything that took my fancy to a wish list - and then deleted it all without looking at it again :D was so much fun :rotfl: I have bid on a 30ml P&P serum but if I can get it for under a fiver inc delivery I'll be happy as mine isn't going to last the weekend and I have nothing to replace it with :(

No IN's or UU's to report - but I'm still in bed :o and apart from cleanse, tone, moisturise and brush my teeth and hair I've done nothing else. Having a painful joint day and I'm surrounded by warming pads and the central heating's whacked up high :(

Waiting for OH to get home so I can have a long hot bath :D (I can run a bath (usually) but our bath tap is broken and we have to do a convaluted filtering method from sink to bath and I cannot get the hang of it :o)
