Thank you, my OH is currently dismantling it as there's a lot of water swishing round behind the screen :(. I will be trying the rice approach to ensure it's fully dry before I see if it works.

I dropped mine in water and I took all the removable parts out of it, dried them and the phone as much as possible and left them in the airing cupboard for a day (a radiator is just as good). There was some water behind the screen, but it carried on working, and eventually it disappeared. (Wonder if it eventually evaporated?).

I forgot to say in my last post that I also got 2 gift vouchers for that Xfoliate Feet company. The one where you put your feet in the fish tanks!! I am really looking forward to treating myself with it. Has anyone else tried it? & Does it work?

I work in a shopping centre and there's a company by a different name which does the same sort of thing. I've had loads of people tell me that it's brilliant, although it tickles a bit at first! ;)

Out of interest, do people here hoard other things or is it just toiletries? Also noting a cat loving theme coming out....is there a connection?

PPS - hands up who is also on the Boots sale thread still.....ain't lookin good eh.:rotfl:

*Puts hand in the air* Me! And no, I don't think it's on at all.

And as for hoarding...books, DVDs and CDs are just as bad for me. In fact, I have so many that I started up sister threads to this one to help me get some UUs in those departments, too! (Blatent advertising here and here :rotfl:) Perhaps I'm just meant to be a hoarder?!

Oh, and as for all this cat nonsense, I'm a dog owner! :p (I don't mind them, but dogs are the best! *Cue big fight over which is better*)

There was a declutter thread too. I expect there might be a new one by now? It was dated 2010 so ought to have a new one for the new year. I think it was on the old style board.
My house is improving massively as I have started working through the clutter over the last few years. It used to be so bad that you couldn't actually move. Every room was full of boxes but as we've decorated each room, we've added storage to it and I've ruthlessly decluttered room by room. I also try to regularly go back over rooms, espescially the kids rooms because they grow out of stuff.
After this block of nights I need to get into my kitchen and make a hit list for decluttering that. It's full of food. My veg box is delivered on a Friday (was Saturday) and I didn't want it this week but I missed the cut off date for cancelling the order. I need to make up a load of soups and vegetable stews etc.
My clutter issues stem from DH just going out and buying stuff. Whatever he fancies. It drives me nuts!
I had a quick squizz at our bank account the other day too and I think we're a few £K's down on where we should be. That will have happened from gradual overspending and taking my eye off the ball. This year is going to need a big drag back to reality methinks. Trouble is, he is always in Asda or somewhere else buying food, clothes for the kids or whatever. Gah!

The Boots website is still only showing a 50% sale so I guess it's not on yet?
The silver lippy in my pick I'm declaring a UU as of tonight. I will sling it out now because I can't get any more out of it due to the pop up lid thing on it. WIBA?: Not at present. It was a gift and I have 2 new ones and a 1/2 used Virgin Vie one to get through first. I'll go for the VV one first though. I've had it for years!

here......my friend has a theory that cats have some sort of code (like tramps did in days gone by) where they mark the fence post as a signal that u are a friendly house :rotfl:

They must do, I have a queue outside my back door for our cat's Breakfast Buffet leftovers most days!

Our cat has total faith in my willingness and ability to take care of his needs. ;) He just catches my eye, raises an eye brow and stalks off in the direction of what he wants, safe in the knowledge that I will be trotting behind him ready to do his bidding! :D

When the neighbour cats miaow at me, jump up for me to stroke their heads and purr round my legs, our cat just looks bemused at such a demeaning exhibition!

Here's a case in point which my friends say exemplifies everything that's wrong with my relationship with our cat.

The other day my daughter had left a half full pint glass of water on the coffee table....

The cat shoved his whole head in the glass trying to get a drink, so I took the glass away.

Said cat waited patiently for me to return - completely confident that I had only taken it away in order to fill it up again, to make it easier for him to get a drink - and that I would be bringing it back asap.

    And he was right! :o:rotfl:

    I don't think I'm a hoarder either.

I just have a lot of some categories of stuff! (make up and clothes!) I don't have anything that I don't use / wear and love though.

And Jacks, after reading all about your Bobbi Brown stuff, I went to the Cosmetic Company shop at Gunwharf (designer shopping outlet not too far from me)and splurged on some eyeshadow-gorgeous, and worth paying the extra, stays really well and looks so much better than my normal eyeshadow!Thinking of going to the BB counter next time i am in John Lewis to get a make over (never been confident at putting on make up and have never tried eyeliner!) I think i am at the age when paying a bit more for your beauty products definately pays off

Have a good rainy day ladiesxxx

I always pop in to the Cosmetic Company shop every time I'm in Guwharf Quays. It won't surprise anybody to hear that I hardly ever buy anything there though, because I've always already got most of the BB they've got in stock.:D

Definitely give the BB counter a go. I'd recommend that to anybody. I get why people find the MAC counter intimidating, but the BB counter is a whole other world. There's no need for anybody to feel nervous about BB. They will teach you techniques, recommend good colours for your complexion and textures for your skin, and they're never too hard sell in my experience. Tell 'em your annoying friend Jacks said you must try a Pot Rouge and a gel eyeliner at the very least! :):D You should come away with a couple of samples too. The 3ml mascara samples last about 4 months!

For me at least, there definitely came an age where I couldn't just slap any old brand on my face and they would look equally good. I've had to search out what products and brands work for me.

None of it is cheap, but then neither was being disappointed by more budget priced products all the time.

    Have a great day lovelies!

P.S. What's the deal with that Boots 75% off Sale huh? They're playing silly beggars aren't they?
Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. Einstein
  • Fiasco I am VERY envious of your stash - some lovely items there!

Sorry I did multi quote but not sure what happened to it :rotfl: so apologies that I have forgotten who said what etc...

I definitely recommend the airing cupboard trick too for the phone, has always came to my rescue before!

RE: the fish pedicure thing. If you ever go on holiday to Malta, if you stick your feet over any jetty these little fish come up and nibble your feet for free!! It's a weird feeling a first, not unpleasant, but it's a great pampering thing! I have heard good things about the ones popping up over here and will have to try our local one out soon..

Didn't manage to get through all my items to eBay tonight, I say there is still a good couple of hours or more in my bedroom  but I am doing all of my wardrobes, under the bed etc etc.

I did have a pamper last night and UU another lush fizzer WIBA not sure, this one left the water purple/lilac but didn't seem as nice as the snowman one I used the other night. Very fragrant though. I shaved, scrubbed, facemasked, hairmasked, moisturised, de-varnished, re-varnished with a french manicure and tanned last night! very productive I think, and when I saw my grandma last night, she commented to me that I always smell nice and she's always meaning to say it to me, and also the woman I work with said the same yesterday daytime. "YES," I thought, "this pampering malarky must be working girls when comments like that come about ;) " - I am in the last 1/3 of a spray coconut body lotion from BS that I wasn't mad on at the start but it is growing on me, and obviously others like it too! It is a bit strong that I think perfumes wouldn't be advised to be worn with it though!

Still perservering with a face full of make up, eyeshadow every day too. I did get my first positive response from a job application going into a complete change of careers - i'd passed the first stage of the application and had to do one of those silly psychometric tests on line last night so I think I must have failed - I'm good for the first half of the pattern recognition tests but after that I have no idea what they are looking for! :rotfl:

On the downside (or upside - I haven't quite worked this out) I got the results of a bloodtest from the docs yesterday and have been diagnosed as borderline overactive thyroid - as I'm borderline there is no need for treatment, and it might correct itself so nothing needed to worry about as yet. If your wondering what the upside is...i might start to notice I am losing weight without trying :rotfl: ah, every cloud and it's silver lining eh? I have thyroid issues on both sides of the family so am aware of the issues but I have to make light of it - life is too short! but I apologise in advance if my making jokes of it has upset anyone :o

have a good day girls i'm sure i will be dropping in as always during the day ;) xx

UU last night- Baylis and Harding Sweet Mandarin and Grapefruit Shower Gel. WIBA? Possibly, but I have 1 or 2 :o others to get through first!! I do like the smell of this stuff though and plan to get the handwash for the bathroom when the BS soap is finished. Handwash is one thing I tend not to stock pile.

The Queen & Dolly Go To Heaven !

    Queen Elizabeth
    And
    Dolly Parton
Die on the same day and they both go
Before an Angel to find out if they'll be admitted to Heaven.
Unfortunately, there's only one space left that day,
So the Angel must decide which of them gets in.
The Angel asks Dolly if there's some particular
Reason why she should go to Heaven.
Dolly takes off her top and says, 'Look at these,
They're the most perfect breasts God ever created,
And I'm sure it will please God to be able to see
    Them every day, for eternity.'
The Angel thanks Dolly, and asks Her Majesty
The same question. The Queen takes a bottle of
Perrier out of her purse, drinks it down.

Then, wees into a toilet and pulls the lever.

The Angel says, 'OK, your Majesty, you may go in.'
Dolly is outraged and asks, 'What was that all about?
I show you two of God's own perfect creations and
You turn me down. She wees into a toilet and she gets in!
Would you explain that to me?'
'Sorry, Dolly,' says the Angel, 'but even in Heaven,

    Gynecological Visit

A middle-aged woman seemed sheepish as she visited her gynecologist.

"Come now," coaxed the doctor, "you've been seeing me for years. There's nothing you can't tell me."
"This one's kind of strange," the woman said.
"Let me be the judge of that," the doctor replied.
"Well," she said, "yesterday I went to the bathroom in the morning and heard a plink-plink-plink in the toilet. When I looked down, the water was full of pennies."
"I see," commented the doctor calmly.
"That afternoon, I went to the bathroom again and, plink-plink-plink, there were nickels in the bowl," the woman continued.

"That night," she went on, "I went again, and plink-plink-plink, there were dimes. This morning, there were quarters!"

"You've got to tell me what's wrong with me!" she implored. "I'm scared out of my wits!"
The gynecologist put a comforting hand on her shoulder. "There, there, it's nothing to be scared about," he said.

UU report - 10ml sachet of Dove Intensive Care Lotion for Extra Dry Skin WIBA Don't think so - and not until next year anyway - it is very rich and a little sticky. If you have got extra dry skin it would be worth trying.
Demoted for use as foot cream as I found it in a bedside drawer: Aldi's Siana cream for combination skin (which I don't have, mine's normal). Lovely light cream though.
