  • I've just had an MOT at a new place in Baglan, Port Talbot called Ariazone MOT Centre and I was very impressed. Like the other places people have come across, they don't do repairs so will give you a fair pass or fail and they also do free re-tests. The cost was £45 which was pretty good, but what I liked most as a woman was the fact that it was all so modern and clean with a drinks machine and a smart new waiting room and WC - we've all been to the tatty old garages where you're afraid to even sit down because you'll get covered in oil and the only pictures to admire are of Jordan's cleavage!!
The staff were really nice too and they even gave me a lift back to work after I dropped the car off. It said on their signs that they do class IV & class VII - which is cars, vans and motorhomes apparently.

If anyone in the Port Talbot, Neath area is looking for an MOT soon I would definitely recommend Ariazone. Their telephone number is 01639 812555
  • I'm glad I got this email today. My MOT is due this month and I'm trying to find a good place to get it done without being ripped off.

Last year I was told I needed a new exhaust because it was blowing. It couldn't have been much because I would have heard it as I use it every day. They had me over a barrel and I ended up with a bill for £500+. I'm still not convinced it needed a new exhaust, but I've learned my lesson and won't be using that garage any more.

    Thanks for the tips.

There's one in Clare Road, Cardiff. and I went there for the second year last week. Cost £40 and they were as good as gold again. I'll see if I can find the number for it and edit this post later.

Booked my car in for its MOT at the end of the month at Gateshead Council MOT Centre. Costing me £53.10 which is abit of a strange figure but hey ho. Gonna ring them in the morning to see if I can get the service done at the same time so will post the price for that when I find out what it is.

i took my car along to our local council and it failed , took it to local garage with failure list in hand, cost £105 for repairs and £40 for test, i wonder how much it might have cost wothout that bit of paper?

Will definetly go back to council from now on though.
  • I went to Just MOTS, got a code from the website and phoned to book using it so got £5 off. But by the time I took my car in their prices had gone up but they honoured the price at the time of booking (and the £5 off). Super service and had already decided to go back to them next year. Then signed up on their website for their "reminder" service (in the hope I amy get an offer nearer the time). More good news - just got an email to say I won in the draw for a free MOT and there's no expiry on the prize. So reckon by next summer that'll be a saving of about £60. SWEET!

Just been to Tower Hamlets Vehicle Service Centre. Excellent service and very thorough MOT for £50. We will definitely be using them again next year.

Ok, Gateshead Council don't do services but I've got that sorted now anyway!
