thanks spoon may i ask how you manage to get so many nsd do you have a system and if so would you share it i'm sure lots of us would like to know especially the newbies the most i've done is 12 and that was 25dec to 5 jan

Hi muffin man 7, yes of course you may ask, it's no great secret.

I joined this challenge with the specific intention of cutting down on the number of times I went to the supermarket each week (it was 5-6 times a week when I was working in an office:o) and the amount of money I was spending there:eek:.

I work from home therefore don't have the temptation of passing by shops in my lunchtime, so that's a huge advantage but if I hadn't joined the challenge I would still go out 3-4 times a week, I'm sure:o. Because I had to declare spendy days I didn't bother going when I started the challenge and I've just got out of the habit now, tbh.

I do all my food shopping one day a week, I make a list and stick to it (do a meal plan as well), and organise any other spends to go out on the same day (window cleaner, papers, etc). If I need to go out again during the week, that's fine, 2 days is a lot less than 5 or 6.

It's all about getting yourself organised (but I have been doing the challenge for a year), deciding what spendy area you want to target and taking it step by step.

Stick with it, you're doing well to get the number of NSDs you have so far.

    Hope that helps a bit.

Hi WonkeyDonkey (I love your name:D).

I love spending other people's money nearly as much as I love unexpected NSDs:D:D. Hope the trip goes well and look forward to seeing your report of 6 NSDs later in the week.

  • Thanks spoon:T that helps a lot and as i've already hit my 5 in a row:j can i go for 6 in a row at least a couple of chances of making it just got to convince myself i don't need to buy double to make up for ns days lol will give it a go everything in one shop mmmbetter start that list and double check it too (makes me sound like santa)will let you know how i do when i do it still got quite a bit in from xmas and the good bit is its lots of easy stuff so fairly quick meals i've got to take duplicate gifts back 2mz so need to be really strict although i am replacing some of the stuff with alternatives so am i right in thinking if i don't spend anything else i can still count a nsd not sure if i will manage that but would be good if i could.

    :)Good morning folks!

Just a quick post to say thanks SF and Spoon for the updates!

Also, I meant to send :grouphug: to LFV, so sorry to hear about your doglet, thinking about you :)

First Monday went ok, it felt like the first day in a new job - my wee brain cells were knackered after taking down loads of notes!:rotfl:
I enjoyed it though, new things keep you on your toes!

Should be another NSD today, have lunch and fares sorted. I've also got my dinner all ready for tonight - chicken marinated in lemon, olive oil, chilli, ginger and garlic which is going to be chargrilled and served with tagliatelle. Very domestic godess, eh?;)

Off to throw myself in the shower - I'll pop back later!
Have a lovely day everyone :)

you will always be rich enough to be generous.
  • I was just checking something in my diary and realise I have 5 NSD's not 4:j It just keeps getting better as I also realised yesterday that I had slightly more money in the bank than I had thought. It's still tight but not quite as bad as it all seemed on Friday!

My horoscope on Saturday said to beware spending on Tuesday so I'm going to try to stay out of the shops today. I have a couple of ebay/amazon parcels to post today but the cost of this is covered in the sale.

Spoon - thank you so much for the tips. I'm going to give them a try and see if I can cut down even more. When I did my budget at the weekend I was embarrased by the amount of money I'm wasting each month on nothing in particular.

No 3 for me today! decided not to cont days i have to put fuel in the car as that is such an essential where I live, but I was good and didnt buy anything in the garage when paying!

Also had some fab news, rang the electricity company today as my payments have been large as ive been paying off a huge bill due to them estimating my meter readings for several years, and I am now in credit to the tune of over £1000!!!!!! Which will be credited to my bank account at the end of the month, so not only have my monthly payments gone down by half but I will be £1000 less overdrawn by the end of the month!!

    Ecxellent news!

  • 1 NSD managed yesterday woop woop!! :j

I almost bought a book on amazon then realised not only would it mess up my budget but also my challenge so just added it to my wish list instead - I already have around 20 books by my bedside table to read

Will be a spend day today as I need a few groceries.

  • Wow, there some amazing NSD numbers on here at the moment. Very inspirational :T.

I need to declare #5 for Sunday. Either today or tomorrow with also be a NSD but I'm not 100% sure which yet- I need to buy a present so will either go to town today or tomorrow for that. If I buy it with a gift voucher can I still claim a NSD? :rotfl: Ooh, actually joking aside I have a jumper to take back so if I could exchange that for the gift then that would be a NSD- sorted!
