Nicca, thanks for that wonderful post - a bit of philsophical pondering is good for the soul! I found myself nodding all the way through reading, I could relate to all of it!:A
Good morning all,
Got #1 yesterday, so off to a good start!
Had a lovely day yesterday, all went well considering it was our first without FIL. We had a lovely meal and our nieces aged 9 and 12 put on a "New Year Variety Show"! We had songs, clarinet playing and some dancing, what a laugh!:D We also lit a sky lantern ( just one Cheryl!) in memory of Fil and we all stood out in the back garden and watched as it floated skyward. MIL loved it as she'd never seen one before and she was fair taken with the whole idea!
Home quite late, so we're having a quiet day, but we are off to the panto later ( oh yes we are!) with my M&D.
I adore the panto, it's such a good laugh and nobody minds if you act like a big kid at the age of 50 something!;)
Lovely to see lots of newbies joining us :T
Have a lovely day everyone:)
Aw, thanks Jinty!
Haven't heard "fair taken" for a while! Well seen I've been on the West coast for too long!Glad you and the family had a nice day and your FIL was part of it via the lantern.
I was working hogmanay, but I let the dog out the back just after midnight and we both stood staring up at all the latterns (admittedly the dog was watching the one that was about to land next to us! But she decided not tp pounce :rotfl:)Jan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55

Oh wow, I have really started something with my bit of moaning Thanks to all who have given such wonderful advice:
niccatw - what amazing advice....and thanks so much for the poem..it is printed out now...if a bit faint (need to get a new printer this week!) I have never seen it written down...just heard it on TV and radio.
moneypenny2k - love the 15 minute rule...will try it this week, if not today!
spoon - not sure if it's a good thing that there are loads of others as crazy as me out there...scary :rotfl:!!
mm7 - Sorry , I got the frame in Homebase's reduced corner last year (November)..only got one, should have got another really (or two!). Went back a couple of days later and they were all gone. I have painted the frame chocolate (well it's called Buddah (sp?)) to match his coffee and chocolate-coloured room (not my choice at all, but doesn't look too bad!). You could try Ikea for cheap frames...or charity shops! I have been hunting for a few for the cross-stitch pictures I have been doing...found some in the past, but no luck so far this time ..will have to get some made, so investigating on Tuesday...another belated Xmas present!!
No NSD today as DH has topped up the diesel..was a bit low and I am taking DS2 up to Birmingham tomorrow for a rugby training session. The garage was busy with everyone filling up before the VAT change on Tuesday.
This should make tomorrow an NSD, assuming I can get parked for free at the rugby club. I will take a packed lunch with me as well as the dog (DS1 still at GF's)...so I can take her a walk while I am up there. The camp runs from 10 to 4, so I will take some knitting and sewing to keep me occupied, I could even take a book to read! There's no point going back home as it is over an hour's drive for me each way....uses diesel too! DH is off to the US early tomorrow morning too...so we're all on the move tomorrow!!!
DS2 is cooking bacon for lunch now, which is making me really hungry! I am being good though and having hm veg soup instead.
Have a good day.

Oh, thanks for the reminder Keiss... I'll need to check how much deisel is currently in the tank! Not right now though as I'll just get stuck in football traffic; I can hear the choppers hovering.
Mmmmm, hm veg soup.... not quite the same when you've only potatoes and onions in though!Might have a baked potato instead.

Afternoon all
Wasn't planning a nsd today as I had to go to the market for fresh fruit today. If I don't go on Sunday then I have to pay £2 parking which kind of offsets the savings made. So did my weekly shop too, spent less than £40 and that included a £13 throw from Mr T which I needed to keep the sofa free from cat hair.
Did manage to use some coupons though which bought the cost down and I've now got food for the rest of the week.
Have a good one all.0 -
