I'm sure everyone on here is super careful, but been told my another SL that a fake tax refund email is circulating:
At a time of year when many people are completing their tax returns, this nasty scam has reappeared - a fake email promising a tax refund. This is the one that I received this morning:
Dear Applicant:
Following an upgrade of our computer systems and review of our records we
have investigated your payments over the last two years, our calculations
show you made over payments of £539.43p .
Due to the high volume of refunds you must complete the application form.
Please make sure you complete the form correctly.
Please submit the application form to confirm the refund.

This is not genuine - it's a phishing scam. The links in the email go to a website based in Indonesia which is nothing to do with HMRC!
If you think you are due a tax refund, complete your tax return on the HMRC website and if you are owed money HMRC will send it to you.Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -

It's swings and roundabouts as far as do you give them the pack and books, save yourself a double journey or give them the pack and books and possibly lose money. Either way you could lose some money.
I agree that an SL should be able to get an answer from Avon there and then. Would save a lot of time for both SL and new rep.
Thanks for the forewarning
In these short campaigns, if you didn't get them cracking asap (and leave your books) you'd have to sign them into the next campaign.
Another pet hate of mine re SL'ship is that we have to 'guess' how many books we'll need for recruitment as you can't send surplus ones back for credit/replacement. In the case of this latest newbie, who was rejected, I didn't have any spare books so gave them mine/the ones I needed for my own customers - meant I couldn't prep my books in advance and had to do it at the same time as putting my orders together.:mad:Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

Haha yes I've had to do this as well as signed more than I'd thought - usually I end up with tonnes of books left! The only good side I see, is that even if I don't sign anyone up, although I'm still left with lots of books I don't need - its costing me about the same as it used to when I was just a rep as I used to order lots of books then for my round. We can swap books if we get too many - although it has to be done when the books are still of use & still sealed - ie we could return C5 books now for exchange for C6 books etc. Never done it myself though.
Plus - if you signed someone up, but didn't leave them any books and they had to wait a week to know if they were approved - even if they were approved, they might well change their mind as they've been raring to go but not been able to get any orders. It is a pain though, thankfully (touch wood) I've not had anyone rejected yet. Now I've said that I'm bound to lol. But yes, avon should still refund us for at least 20 books & the appointment pack when they're rejected, as its not our fault and leaves us out of pocket.Unlikely they'll change it though, as it means avon aren't out of pocket so they won't be bothered!Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -
I know the system sucks and all... but all may not be lost yet MC... get the customer to call the number that Avon gave you to discuss the issue... once she's explained that she's NOT her daughter then hopefully she'll be approved by them... fingers crossed!

Hi all
Just wondering about tax return? I've not had to do it before as only started with Avon a few months ago, went online to do it but it says I should have a unique number which is found on tax return or request to complete tax return, neither of which I have. Not have anything sent to me apart from a letter regarding NI which I did a small earnings form for.
I dont understand what I need to doAsked SL but she doesnt bother with tax apparantly!!!! I dont know where to start

Have you registered as self employed with the HMRC yet? You need to do that ASAP. Once you have done that they will send you a tax return to complete. The Tax return that has a deadline for the end of thsi month is for the tax year 2009/2010 :)So April 2009 till April 2010 - whilst you do have to register as SE as soon as possible then you don't have to do your tax return for a while yet...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! I've decided to sign up with Avon so that I can choose my hours (I know I have deadlines to meet though
) but I was wondering whether I am better signing up through the website or asking someone to put me in touch with their SL? I want the process to go as quick as possible so that if I get accepted (can't see why I shouldn't unless my address has been blacklisted!) I can get off JSA as soon as possible
Any idea which would be better?:o

I'll give them a call monday (providing Im not in labour- my naughty baby is 9 days overdue!! heehee)
Thanks again for your help x0
