Hi,
Am going to be doing a party soon (my first) for a friend to try and raise funds for a local Hospice for a walk she is doing with them next year.
I have read all the party threads - very helpful thank you - and am going to start compiling a list of items to order. I intend to have some things to buy/win on the night as well as books for people to look at.
My question is regarding returns though. I am going to be ordering a fair amount of stock but obviously if it doesn't sell I shall return. Would there be a problem in returning a large amount of items does anyone know?
Would appreciate advice from anyone.
I'd also like to offer some special prices for some brochure items, like 4.50 instead of 5.00 etc, but if not enough people order I could be out of pocket? Has anyone done this at all?
Thanks for your help.0 -

Find things that are cheaper to back order. So if something is £6 in this book but £3 to backorder, you could advertise them at £4 each. Then if/when people order them you backorder them. Your customer thinks they're getting a bargain and you are making 25% commission + £1 on each itemAlso if things are 3 for £X amount to backorder but more pricey in the current brochure, you can offer them at 3 for £X to try and increase orders, again people think they're getting a bargain but you're not losing out xx

I just re-read my post, It was meant to say.
Since I joined Avon, I have seen many people leaving (Started Avon in May)
My SL & her OH are both SL for our area.
My SL has lost 3 members of her team in the past few weeks
My SL OH has lost alot more!
It was a read, reply & run moment! Sorry for the confusion!
Hi, thanks, I understand now.
Yes, opting for SL'ship is not easy. Some SL's sign up 'anything that walks and breathes' but not good in the long run. To be successful as an Avon rep you really need to be committed and, unfortunately, (a bit controversial this....) certain people find it too much like hard work - especially if they've clicked into the UK benefits system. Having said that, being an Avon rep can help certain people to click into Working Tax Credits so each to their own and all that.
Guess my perception is marred; I did sign up a young lady, who managed to get £250 worth of orders within 3 days via her F&F but then gave up Avon (became a debt address) because she - quote: "wasn't prepared to work THAT hard for £50". When I said that I did, she replied "More fool you" :mad:Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

Not probably what some people want to hear but my ASM will be chuffed.
Got a little bit of an odd email from someone with an Avon logo. It said "OOPS you seem to have forgotten to place your last order" I actually placed C11 two days early. Not sure if this person is legit or not but surely if they were an SL they would know if I had placed my order or not. Also wouldn't you introduce yourself as my new SL ! Very odd. I haven't actually had an SL for about 18 months
Well done! :T
As for your email, it may be that your ASM has designated one of her team members to help her out with her Order Management. If you have concerns, just forward the email to your ASM and query if they're aware of this person sending out such emails.
Incidentally, if you are/were 'tagged' direct to your ASM then that link will always remain; there is no obligation on you to deal with anyone other than the person you were originally tagged to.Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

Speaking as a customer, I'd be really annoyed if I was starved of a book. I see it as part of the service.
If I don't get regular service I may as well order on-line and not bother with a rep.
I don't order every campaign because eother I don't need anythng, haven't seen anything I fancy or I'm waiting for something to be offer, but I can access the book on-line and I would personally see the lack of a book as a lack of service and I'd wonder if my rep had given up.
Everyone's diffferent and that's just a personal opinion and not a criticism.
I'm sure it works in some cases, but maybe not in others.
Thanks for your feedback; really appreciated and good to see that customers view this thread as well as reps.
See your point totally and hopefully somewhere along the line you have actually had a conversation with your rep and let them know your feelings, in which case they should continue to drop you a book whether you order or not.
Having said that, it is quite sole-destroying to put the effort in by delivering/collecting books but without any orders at all so it's quite understandable if that rep decides to make their life easier/take a short break. All reps are self-employed and (I can only speak for myself) some of us take hours 'prepping' books, personally addressing order forms, offering special deals. Time after time I put that effort in but I understand why some reps wouldn't.Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

I was chatting to OH about Avon the other day. He asked if I kept a record of how much time I spent on it. I said I didn't particularly, his response was that if it was less than £5 per hour I should consider giving it up .
My response was.... well, if I can find another job where I can decide when I work, doing half an hour here & there, not working if there's something on at school/playgroup or if someone's ill, I'll think about it :rotfl:
I'm quite happy with my £30-40 per campaign towards school holiday fun! Yes, it's hard work but if suits my lifestyle. Now proud Mumto3 :j0 -
i'm so so upset.
my account balance was £107.34, i made credits of £35.26. so in theory I should owe £72.08
I log into my account to find my credits are still pending and that I now owe £137.08 because Avon paid £30.00 me when they shouldnt have done so they took it back except they took £60.
I phoned up and the first person hung up on me when I tried to explain, the second person has taken the £30 off so I still owe about £100. Better than it was but I am having to pay for their mistake the idiots.
I really aren't having much luck with Avon and if it weremn't for the fact I have been made redundant and need the money I would give up (actually due to their continous mess ups I am not making any money as it is)
Not totally understanding your situation but sounds like a good idea to involve your upliner to help you get a straight edge. Keep a track on what you KNOW you owe Avon - their systems take a while to catch up so I always tell everyone on my team to do their own book-keeping.
Good luck.Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

I need to ring avon as they keep sending my order to my old address!! I've tried changing my address several times on the website but no such luck and it's such a pain! On the website it says contact Avon on: 0333 2345000. I'm just a bit worried about how much the call is going to cost because it's a strange number! Is this the one other reps use?
Thanks!
If you've changed your address in your Profile but it still hasn't registered, email a complaint to Avon and copy in your upliner.
As others have already said, 03 = normal landline no. now so don't worry about ringing it. Probably better though to go via your upliner - they get to speak to someone, who speaks English! :rotfl:Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

It's your business so just work out the best deals you can possibly offer your customers without being out of pocket yourself. Check out Money Makers - they're invoiced two campaigns ahead so good for offering to sell in advance at a special price.
As for returns, know this is not encouraged but the only problem I've ever encountered with my team is if returns exceeded £150 Only ever happened once and Avon insisted on a photocopy of the actual returns note. Not sure why but once they received it via the post then the returns were credited.
Good luck with your party.Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)
