My 2nd campaign finishes on Fri (C10), quite happy as just over £200 orders so far & 20 books to pickup on Thurs.

Think I need to get to the next stage as you mention above to make things a little more interesting (& profitable ;)). Does your knowledge on prices just come from knowing the products & reading catalogue cover to cover? or is there some little handy underworld guide somewhere :rotfl:

At first I just had the books to hand and checked them cause I knew roughly where to find it. Then I realised the online catalogues on the first post of this thread let you search so that's cut down on flicking through pages!

Well, C10 has turned out brilliantly for me! My sales are around £450 :D so, very pleased with that.
So pleased that I've been naughty and ordered the Storm Bag :o because I love it! Also hoping that if people actually see it, they may buy too. That tactic seems to work well for me.
Still looking for the plot...... Anyone seen it???

With everything else going on in your life you really don't want this hassle. Cut your losses. Drop her a note to say her order is £...... amount and unless she contacts you by ............ her order will be returned to Avon.

In your situation I certainly wouldn't drop her another book; you might like to add a 'PS:' that you are downsizing your business and are happy to help customers if they can email and collect their orders from you. :)

    Thanks MC.
She has paid up but I have decided as that entire road have been not only rubbish at giving books back and only two have ordered the last few camps that I will give that road a rest for a few camps till I am feeling better. I'm sick of putting nots through doors then trekking up there to find they haven't left their books out or are not in!

Have decided to drop a note to my regulars explaing I am downsizing and giving them my email address too. Haven't quite figured out what I am going to say in it but I will have a think!

    Getting strict

On Monday I'll be doing my third collection taking a new, stricter approach. I've been surprised at how well it's worked. I didn't tell customers this when I started, but it was only ever an experiment and if it had gone terribly I would have at least gone back to collect stragglers on current books. Fortunately I think I'm okay to carry on.

My main reason for doing this is that my husband has to help me out (ferry me about then wait in the car) while I do my Avoning. He's wonderful but he'd like to keep the time spent doing Avon to a minimum. Ultimately I would, too, since I'd rather spend less time on it and get a decent rate per hour than spend ages for the same return. I found that collecting in stragglers only got me 1 or 2 orders, if any.

    I work it by:

    - stapling a clear note to the front of books saying when I'll be back. The note also explains that if the book isn't out/they're not in I'll have to ask them to contact me.

    - if I'm doing a collection mid-campaign I offer to return the following week when I'll be back in the area anyway doing the final collection.

    - if it's the final collection (which all my regulars are on) I knock if the book isn't there, and if no answer they get a note with the date and time to ring/e-mail me by.

    - I had a couple of calls last time so if people are keen to order they do get in touch.

    Books lost:

C9 - 3 current, 5 backorder (from regulars), 1 backorder (first canvas of a street)
C10 - 2 current, 6 backorder (from regulars), 20 backorder (first canvas of a street) - this was on Bank Holiday Monday so that probably made things worse

I think it's possible to "get strict" and ultimately save yourself quite a bit of time as long as you keep your customers informed so they know where they stand. Whether you want to go for this approach of course depends on whether your priority is to save time or money.
I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for. :( I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

I too am having the same problem, Which i want to nip it out before my customers feel its normal to give me the run around.

In C10, I lost lots of books, Nearly 30! People believed that they could bin them, Because they didn't want to order, Plus i have had a few people becoming abusive because they have told the "last rep"
that they didn't want books. I'm kinda of lost as what to do.

My SL is telling me to keep dropping book in because they will warm to me, But i have tried explaining:-

    • Its costing me future sales, Because i'm loosing books
    • Its costing me, Because I'M buying the books
    • They clearly don't one
    • Or their not ordering, Which means, Hourly rate i'm out of pocket.
When i started last month, I was given 106 house with the promise i HAD over 30 regular customers, 6 customers never missing a order.

However, Within a month, I have lost 6 blocks of flats (9 homes in each) Management team have stop door sellers!

22 House's I have been told not to drop to again (Last rep was told)

10 Who are always giving me the run around*
I have asked them over & over to leave their book outside for collection. I also leave a note explaining when i will be back, But they NEVER leave the book there!

One women on C10 had a £70 order, But later refused the order due to me being late, This was because i was having to deal with the above management team.

I know, C11 for sure, Is going to be rubbish. I'm not going to make £78, I have 6 days left & only have £24 in sales. None of the so called regular customers are climbing out of the wood work. :(

Thanks I_GEEK for the advice, I will be using this for sure! :T
    Future goals:
    Become debt free.
    Beat Depression.
    Be happy & healthy

Maybe a silly question but have you tried putting 'Please do not bin' on your notes? It's worked for me :)

Princessx87, Also mention on notes that you have to pay for the books, and possibly if room on note that you need them returned for further canvassing, it might work.
Also I tend when doing a new area to put out an introdution flyer about me, and at bottom give them the option of whether they want to receive book in future, if they do not tick the no box, I keep posting them unless they tell me otherwise either verbally or leave me their own note. I also only give non returners three chances with seperate brochures after that they will not receive another.
I am pretty new to this myself and started with 120 houses which has dropped down quite a bit with no thank yous, unfortunately this does happen and at least you are not wasting your time with them. If someone is unsure if they want to receive the book, you could leave it 3-4 brochures and then try again (recanvas) and if lots in territory do not want a book go back to ASM and/or SL and request new streets to try.
Just because your paranoid does not mean they are not out to get you ! :rotfl:
