Went collecting books from a part of my territory today that I haven't canvassed before, It's a big main road - lots of detached houses - and to be honest I wasn't expecting much. I've already canvassed half the road and not had much interest.

Anyway I had to knock on the door of a big detached house as the book hadn't been left out - the woman comes to the door, and says she can't recall seeing the book and must of misplaced it. Fair enough I said, and asked if she would be interested in seeing the next book, her response was 'Oh, no thank you - I wouldn't be interested in buying anything from Avon'.
So of I went, walking down a very busy main road so I didn't hear my phone when it rang but heard it give it's little beep for voice mail for some reason. The message was from the lady who had 'misplaced' her book, said she had found it now and would leave it outside for me if I was passing by again. So as it was on my way home I took the long walk down her intimidating drive way only to find no book left out, so I knocked again. This time she comes to the door and says 'Ooh, I just thought I'd have a flick through it while I had a coffee so was just writing your order out :D, come in for a coffee while I decide'

It's not by any means a massive order, but thought this was worth sharing as she was so sure she wasn't interested in anything Avon before she looked and she wasn't even going to get another book. Made my day - But then it doesn't take much to please me

Thats great newbeginning! I love how people are surprsied by Avon, they don't realise that there is something for everyone in there until they actually have a look!

So I have just spent 15 mins searching through the book and writing out the order form now that I am home.... I have text the order to her so she knows what it is and how much...

She is quite nice but I think it will be the same story each time :)

Make sure her freebie with this order is a yellow highlighter pen:rotfl:

  • Somehow I have managed to pay my avon bill twice, I thought it hadn't gone through so tried again, turns out it took payment twice so my account is now in credit. This would be fine only I can't really afford to pay twice! Does anyone know if I can get the money back into my bank account?

    Thanks

sorry dingdong, never had anyone ask this question before. Why don't you call tomorrow and ask to speak to the credit department (accounts) and explain to them, you can't afford for the money to be debited twice. Sure they can reverse into your account if you explain. good luck.

How to choose a Sales Leader?

I've been considering joining Avon, and have a meeting coming up shortly with a Sales Leader. Should I contact different ones too? How do you know if you have a 'good' one. I'm sure they will all be very charming and the bad ones will be difficult to spot until it's too late.

Obviously if I take an instant dislike to the person I won't be signing up with them! Is it just gut instinct do you think?

To add to what lozza says, ask a few pertinent questions to see how 'switched on' they are and/or how amenable they'd be to you contacting them to resolve any problems/queries you may have. You should soon get an idea as to whether they just want to add you as a number to their team or want to help you make the most of your own Avon business.

It's obviously more beneficial to you to get one reasonably close to where you're based but actually one, who's readily available on email and/or phone is better even if they're quite a way away than one just down the road, who's likely to ignore you!

As you say, gut instinct comes into it although got to admit, being an Avon rep, you do tend to meet and mix with people you maybe wouldn't normally..... :rotfl:

Good luck and if all else fails, you've always got us here on MSE! :T

Can't see you getting a refund but a rep on my team had a similar problem two campaigns ago; it reserved the funds but didn't apply them to the account so she did it again. End result was that she lost access to the reserved funds until Avon released their hold on them. Email Avon through the 'contact us' route on your website and hopefully they'll help.

Well done, NB, sounds like one to nurture.

I thought you were going to say she'd dragged you all the way back to pick up a book without an order!

Three times I've been told by different customers lately that they won't order until they've actually met their Avon Lady face to face. Wonder if your new customer is thinking along the same lines and/or testing you to see how much you 'care'....

Keep up the good work! :T

  • Well my C6 isnt going too bad. Have orders totalling £240 with a few more to come in. Have about 4 new customers as well after canvessing a bit more of my really long road. Unfortunatly didnt order loads of C6 books so will have to be really careful about canvessing mlong road (they are on a book behind) as only have about 30 books to go round 100 odd houses. Opps lol.

Also need to sort out which days I will start delivering orders on. Usually do it on a Tues (my order comes on a Monday) but as I now work Mon,Tues and Weds, night will prob change it to Thursday.

On a non Avon point. I cant believe how much my car insurance has gone up. I got 10 years no claim, and my renewal has come in at £1500, the cheapest I have found so far is £1200. What is going on?????

Try asking your ASM/SL if they have some spare C6's. I did this once and my ASM brought a full pack of 20 round for free xx

And what car do you drive :eek::eek:
