Can I ask if anyone had sucess doing a Christmas fair/fete?

I did one this christmas and it was not good although the whole fair wasn't as busy as usual due to another on the same night. Anyway the thing is to do it I like to buy some cheap bits through the year from clearance and then some on normal order. The table is going to cost me £15 this year and just not sure what to do. Don't want to end up out of pocket.
Any sucess stories out there and if so can I be cheeky and ask what sold well. Thanks

Never done a Christmas fair/fete but did once do a 'Ladies Night' at a local club and have - somehow - fallen into doing a 'bit of a do' on a monthly basis at my home now.... Not sure it earns me much as I tend to open 'a few bottles of wine' but it makes for a nice evening and is spreading the word I guess. From my limited experience, anything at bargain basement prices tends to sell well e.g. linen sprays @ 99p, shower gels @ 70/75p, liquid soaps @ £1 and the smaller sized EdP/EdT's. Not sure that's going to be much use to you though as you'll need to sell quite a few to even cover your costs so maybe stick to gift baskets? Can't remember now who it was, but they mentioned on a previous thread that they did really well. If you're not very 'handy' at making up baskets it might be worth stocking up on the Avon sets @ £8/£6 nett as they're really easy to make up (obviously, change the goods for variety and maybe sell off the contents of the original sets separately).

    Just a thought.....

PS: Another thought - instead of stocking up through the year (and having to fund the cost in advance) why not just wait and order from your campaign immediately before the fete/fair? That way you needn't pay for anything in advance because essentially you'll be getting it all on a 'sale or return' basis. ;)

Hi All, hope the New Yr is treating you well. I have just been going through my paper work and noticed that I should have received organiser and pen set, and I think samples after 4th campaign over HOV. I didn't get it and the next one I submit is my sixth campaign. Anyone know why this would be? Will email SL to enquire I think. I know it's not much but we don't get a huge amount from them so would like to make the most of it while I can!! Also thinking organiser would actually be rather useful!
Anyone got any good sales tips / ideas for C3? Got a week and a bit til it goes in. 2 weeks is rubbish, especially as people aren't inclined to order straight away after placing C2, and a lot of mine like to order last minute, if that makes sense(?!)

You should've got the pens and expanding file if you hit HOV in both C3 and C4 (less any returns) and placed both orders online and on time. If that's applicable but they didn't arrive, either email your upliner or Avon via the 'contact us' section of the website and ask why not. Could be an oversight in the paperwork i.e. if you were signed up to the wrong initial campaign as happened to one of my team members, but I managed to sort it easily enough. Hope you do too. Good luck.

As for C3 2011.... I've put a 'get a free gift for orders £10+ in this campaign' note on the front of my books. Time will tell. C2 was pretty poor for me but got to say that customers seemed happy to be told when I did my deliveries last Friday that if they ordered anything it would be delivered '2 weeks today'. Sometimes I think customers reckon it's too long from ordering to delivery.

I put them out on the Thursday for collection on Saturday, do you think I should leave them longer? My SL says that how long she leaves hers for.

Thank you for any advice xxx

    Think 'routine' is the key.

I tend to leave my books with customers over the w/e i.e. drop off Friday, collect Tuesday. Gives me a couple of days to get them back in and put them back out again before I need to input my order on Wed/Thurs. Had a few comments this time: "I'll look at it now before ......" so makes me wonder whether getting customers into a routine of only having it for 36 hours may be better i.e. less is more and all that.

Hey missminx, I do a reps special offer every campaign and for C3 it was spend £10 throughout the Catalogue and get any foundation for £3 (they are all on offer for £4 anyway and I am just passing my discount on), but still encourages people to spend over £10 :)

  • Hi everyone, went out last week to pick up my C2 brochures, i got 4 orders from my territory and the rest was from F&F! thank god for them!!
i was going to ask for a bigger area but i'm moving house in the next month to the other end of town so will ask for it then, but i dont want them to give away my current streets, some of my customers have said they have really bad luck with avon, some have even placed orders with other reps and then never had them back (so im trying to be super reliable so they start to put more orders in when they trust im not going to leave them hanging!) so to the point lol - if i do ask for more streets closer to where i will be living will they take my my current streets away? x

No, just ask if you can have some additional streets. The only problem you might have is if you are moving to another area (my town falls within 2 areas, so even if you aren't moving far it could end up being in a different area). In that case, the would probably take away your exisitng streets - but - in that circumstance, just explain to your customer that you're continuing, so if they get a brochure from someone else not to panic as you'll still be there rep. But if you're still within the same area, then they'll just give you some extra streets and leave your exisitng streets attached to you.

Ah, the joys of canvassing new streets. :D I remember saying on here after my first lot that I'd be glad when things settled down. Of course I'm excited to have new streets but I'd forgotten how time-consuming it is compared to going around my established streets. Some streets aren't just a straight terrace. There's the back of one terrace (is it like my street where the letterboxes are on the back?) which has the front of some 70s semis next to it, then an old cottage. Some house numbers don't exist. If I could see people were in I knocked but most got posted through. And I fell on the ice. For some reason it didn't hurt - I think because it was done in slow-motion with me having a hold of my husband's leg half-way down. It was difficult to get back up because the whole road was compacted snow. I ended up walking on my knees to some normal snow.

Also came across a very creepy collection of dolls. Normal dolls I find creepy enough but as I got closer I noticed they had pointy teeth or fangs and were stacked up on top of each other.

Got one new customer from new streets with a big order. Quite a few interested people at the doors but I've learnt from last time not to get my hopes up. A person who sounded keen in August and hasn't ordered said not to bother anymore. I also had a customer tell me she didn't want any more books (she had only ordered one item). Got a couple of "no"s ticked on my new streets but out of 19 houses I've got to go back tonight for 12. The temperature (rather than the weather) seems to effect whether people leave them out. Last August it seemed to rain every day for weeks but books got left out.

Also got a nice order from my MIL's group at work. They'd missed a campaign and C2's offers were suited to them since they often buy the basics. I'm about £10 off HOV so that will either get made up with my things and/or some extra orders tonight.
I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for. :( I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

don't worry hun, about the only reason that people get refused by avon is if they've done it before and left owing avon money. Other than that, I've had people with ccjs get accepted, and mil can't even get a proper bank card that can switch cos her credit rating is so poor, but avon accepted her so don't worry!
