  • Yes, my gut feeling is this situation is something similar - I can only think that she's gone as if she was just away for a few days I'm sure she would have texted back to say so. Unfortunately I don't have any other customers in her section of the road so I'mnot going to be able to get the gossip that way! I have quite a lot of rentals on my patch so suspect I will have a lot of chopping and changing of people. Already know of one customer though who will be moving inside the next couple of months but wants to keep using me for her Avon!

Thanks so much to everyone for your feedback on this one - really useful and helpful!

I too would go along the line of putting down as returns but keeping them until the last possible moment & letting them re-charge.

Whilst the local gossip can undoubtedly be useful if you can pick it up in a subtle sort of way ;), I was always very strict about never mentioning to someone that a neighbour was a customer. For all I know, she may have told her neighbours that she only wears Dior/Clarins/Mac & wouldn't thank me for spilling the beans :D Also, she may hate that particular person & refuse to buy anything they would :rotfl: I cant help feeling that you learn more if people think you are discreet :p

'Thanks' again, EL, for your input. Am slow on the uptake sometimes but am beginning to cotton on to a pattern here..... You against Avon/me/this thread? Don't get me wrong, really do appreciate any/all advice to keeping us on the 'straight and narrow' but - forgive me - your posts are coming across with a totally different feeling to, say, !!!!!!'s i.e. he offers friendly, unbiased advice (as do the rest of us on this thread) but - and again, sorry, if am reading this wrong - I 'almost' feel threatened by the tone of your posts. If there's a reason for that i.e. I've offended you in some way, then please let me know. To be honest, you give me the feeling that I've got a terrier snapping at my heels for some reason... Don't mean to be disingenuous but we're all just on here trying to help new Avon reps, who haven't had the advantage of a good upline support system.

We're trying to help each other; your recent posts just make me wonder.....

OK I'm going to have to jump in here - because I think you are getting the wrong end of the stick - EL has posted exactly what she should (and I'm the first to hold my hand up having offered to try to order stuff for people - naughty me!) and it's nothing personal or anti Avon or anti anyone - We are not allowed to put Avon SL/Rep whatever in our sigs, we can't offer or ask for things on the forums and it's not really right to have a pop at the BG for pointing out the rules...

If you have a problem with a BG or their actions then you take it to the forum team - you don't start at them on a thread on the boards. BGs are told not to respond to these because it's NOT our job to do so.

So can I please ask that we simply say thanks to EL for pointing out where we have been naughty (Including me!) and IF anyone has any issue with a BG then please send a mail to the forum team and take it "off board".
Remember that BGs are volunteers - we're not paid to help on the boards. Most of what we do is to keep things running smoothly but we also try to protect the users and the board itself - that includes reminding people when they break rules that are there for their protection :)

Thanks, MrsT; wasn't having a pop at EL, just am puzzled at how things seem to have tightened up on our Avon threads recently when we must be some of the friendliest and best behaved subscribers on here. (I feel much more comfortable posting on the Avon threads than some of the others that I have 'dipped a toe' into occasionally.)

We're a very helpful bunch; guess we need to rein in our helpfulness in certain areas. :rotfl:

LOL Someone will have brought the infringements to the attention of the forum team and frankly that is all there is to it :) Once one person has been spotted it's easy to "unravel" lots of other infringements :) Remember it's not BGs who remove signatures etc :)

I'm not saying we shouldn't be helpful, but all of us need to stick to board rules in our helpfulness (me included! LOL) so nice though we are here and much as we go out of our way to help each other then we need to remember that MSE isn't really an "Avon rep and SL business builder tool" ;) More to the point - although WE might be fairly sane people and on the whole pretty well balanced... the rule has to be enforced across the board - otherwise others will only turn round and say "but you allow THEM to do it...." and then people start getting angry etc. And ultimately if it's relaxed one day someone might come to harm... and that is what MSE and Martin are trying to prevent... It's not anti us - it's pro everyone :D

Yes - I've been doing roughly the same - the closest I come is to say that I have another customer "Close by" if for example someone has asked me if it's OK for me to pop back for their book or their order as they haven't finished looking at it / got the money!

MrsT - one quick question if you don't mind - not a dig at anyone, just something I am curious about. The board Guide sigs all state the boards where that BG has jurisdiction, but a lot of BG's (not meaning you!) only ever seem to make comments on threads in other than their own stated areas, and indeed in some cases rarely even seem to post in those areas! What are the guidelines you work under in relation to coming across a thread which is a bit naughty, but is not on a board that you have been "given" to act on? Ta!

Some BGs prefer not to post in their own areas because it's easy to loose objectivity :) I've stopped posting as much on my own boards as I used to for that very reason - I'll post on DFW from time to time and the special occassions board, but other than that I tend to mainly read and BG on "my boards". I get very passionate about things so it's easy to end up being TOO involved in a topic - I've had to report myself to the Forum team a few times LOL - and so it's easier to BG things if you aren't personally involved in the discussion :)

Other BGs are happy to be in the thick of things on their boards and it's very much a personal thing :)

As for advising on boards that are not yours - it's no different than any other user advising you on the board rules :) we might ping the BGs and forum team to let them know about things - we might just try and guide a topic back on track...

HOWEVER we do not have jurisdiction as such - we guide and help - we do not enforce rules, if we spot a rule break we report it to the forum team and they will decide on whether to act or not. So whether it's "my" board or not - I wouldn't "act" on naughtiness - I might tell someone they are naughty and to edit their post or remind them of the rules, but only the Forum team can "act" and remove posts or ban users etc :)

    That make sense? :)

Just wanted to add my two penneth, Mrs Tine whenever you comment as a BG it is always friendly and in no way could it cause offence and is appreciated but whilst the facts from TL are useful it is the tone that I find a little aggressive particularly towards MC. at first I thought it was just me, but then I saw that others thought the same so I felt I had to stand up and be counted.

This board is a lovely friendly place that I love to come and be part of, and I felt that MC just wanted to make sure she understood why her signature had been deemed as against rules and then explained it all to us too. TL last post just seemed a little harsh.
Life is a work in progress

In which case you need to take it up through the right channels with the Forum team... discussing it on a thread on here will only upset people and I wouldn't (and haven't) liked it when people did it to me :)
And whilst you might find me very friendly I can promise you not everyone does ;)
And more to the point - it can be hard to get something across in a certain manner in writing sometimes... you ladies know me and my slightly nutty style, someone else might think it was very unprofessional and likewise if you got a mail from me in my work capacity you'd probably be extreemly peeved off because I'm known to be VERY blunt ;)
Trust me - EL is lovely and I know you'll just have to take my word for that :) I'm sure there is no bad feeling directed against anyone in particular but IF you think there is then 2 wrongs don't make a right... :) Send a mail for the ForumTeam and let them deal with it... if you start posting things like this on threads on the forums it very quickly grows into a boardwide BG witch-hunt and it's frankly very upsetting for all of us... :(

MSE isn't really an "Avon rep and SL business builder tool"

And just cos I like to get the last word (:D) I would like to suggest that although it is not a recruiting platform, some of the hint/tips/ideas/enthusiasm on here has really helped me increase my business and build up new customers. I have 'done things' I would normally be too shy to do purely on the back of some of creativity and sheer energy of some of our lovely ladies on here.

Hopefully all this is sorted out now.

Saying that, I'm a bit avonned out at the mo. Spent 3 hours doing my deliveries on tues and feeling a little under the weather. Want to forget avon for a couple of days!

Going back to gossipy neighbours, I wish I lived in one of my roads as round here most folks ignore each other. I tend to collect rather than impart information and I really wanted to know where that customer had gone! Generally, most of my houses are owned rather than let so when they move, I go with them if it's local. Mind you, my bestest customer is back in hospital at the mo and has been unwell for a while so will probably not follow her if she goes.
Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed. ;)

If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'
