Update to my long tale about getting a refund out of Vodafone. At one point I was promised an additional refund of my December line rental as a goodwill gesture.

That December line rental refund has now manifested itself in the latest bill.

It is the massive sum of SIXTY-FIVE PENCE. Yep, 65p. Or £0.65.

    Gosh.

That doesn't seem right Blue Parrott.

Leave this with me while I track your account down from our previous contact with you and I'll come back to you as soon as I can.
tried to reply to vodafone rep there even the website for sending emails to them doesnt even work ,complete joke of a company.already sent yous all my details .think ive had enough of it all.can see my direct debit being stopped on monday on grounds of breach of contract.worst company in the world!

Thanks for your time on the phone earlier billyboy3468.

I'm pleased that we've been able to get everything sorted out for you today.

    All the best.
I'm posting a letter of complaint that we have just emailed to Vodafone Customer Services.

    Subject: Vodafone Complaint

To Whom it may concern at Vodafone Customer services & Complaints

Regarding Unsolicited Sales & Mistreatment by Vodafone Staff

I wish to register a serious complaint, firstly one of your representatives was incredibly unhelpful and frankly blunt and unwelcoming, with no desire to listen or put me in touch with anyone that possibly could, when it reached 9pm at which time her offices closed she informed me she was releasing the call and promptly hung up on me.

The reason for my call and complaint was that on the 4th of December my young daughter received an unsolicited sales call on my home phone and was coerced into giving up her bank details for two twenty four month sim only contracts.

My daughter Jennifer is a single mother living at home with us and already has a phone paid for her for emergency use, she was obviously unaware of what she was actually doing and has not the funds to pay for any such contract, the sim cards will not be used. I cannot believe that a company such as Vodafone has to resort to such vile methods to get new or retain it's customers, its unacceptable and disgusting and as a council representative myself I will be contacting our trading standards departments regarding this matter.

I wish this message to be considered a formal complaint. I am quite frankly disgusted at the way my family has been treated in this matter and as such I will be also forwarding this correspondence to our local ombudsmen, Watchdog and my corporate lawyer (cc'd on this email) and Oftel.

The number of the unopened sim cards in question are

    07833246079 & 07833233547

I await your response in this matter

    Yours Sincerly
    etc..

    Vodafone and I quote

"Welcome to a world thats all about you"

Thanks for choosing Vodafone. Our aim is to make you feel like number one-that means customer service that really puts you first, a network you can rely on and simple innovative services."

    A huh... No I don't think so.

    Hi David,

We certainly don't want any of our customers feeling pressured into anything and I'm concerned to hear about what's happened here.

As you've posted the two mobiles numbers in question I'll take a closer look at things and come back to you as quickly as I can.

    Thanks,

I have completely given up with this company - not sure when my contract ends but it can't be soon enough

I have had staff go from telling me they owe me of various amounts and offering me goodwill payments to now being told that I owe them even more money.

I get a different answer with everyone who I come into contact with

After 15 years with this company I am just walking away and letting them keep my money

I'm shifting my 3 phone lines I have with them to pay as you go as soon as I can

Apologies for the delay replying here UD.

As I haven't been able to track your account down from your previous contact with Kirsty could you send me an email with just your mobile number to the email address in the 'Addtional Information' section of our public profile and I'll come back you as soon as I can.

Thanks and look forward to hearing from you.

  • I emailed a serious complaint to vodafone on 13th Dec and recieved a email straight back saying that someone will be in contact with me within 5 days. It's now been 8 days. What has been the time scale on recieving a reply from them? I am so wound up by them already and the fact that they haven't replied is winding me up even more. God help the person if they phone me to discuss this!

I have just stumbled across this thread and take a strange comfort from the fact that I am not alone in my thoughts about Vodafone.

I took out a contract with them in July and chose the Blackberry Bold handset. Before switching to Vodafone, I checked their coverage map for both my home and work addresses. The map showed, and still does show sufficient coverage to be able to make a telephone call from these locations.

I have never been able to make an outgoing call from work or anywhere near to my place of work. Vodafone always sound reasonable and try to placate the customer. In reality they have done nothing to actually resolve the issue.

They are the worst. Vodafone will actually promise you a service, fail to deliver it, take your money and do nothing tangible to resolve their failings. I hate this company with a passion. They will lie and cheat at any opportunity to make a sale.

What am I to do Vodafone? You have sold me a contract on the basis that I can use the phone from my place of work, yet in reality your network is not up to it. What do i do now?
  • no bother lee, will check my account at beginning of january. as long as i am refunded and still charged 15 pounds a month .merry xmas and happy new year all!
  • Hi all

I am at my wit's end with Vodafone.

Several months ago Vodafone randomly took an extra, unexpected direct debit from my husband's bank account (£42.08), as well as the usual monthly payment. When we phoned up to ask why, the agent said they had never taken 42.08 and there was no record of it. We said, 'Look, we have a bank statement.' They said'Well, take it into a vodafone store so they can confirm it is real, then ask them to phone us to say so.'

So we did. We took it into a Vodafone store. The store people looked at it and said, 'Yes, it's real' and phoned up Vodafone Customer Services and said that to them. We were standing right beside them: they said, "It's definitely real." The Vodfafone customer services person on the phone said, 'We have no record of it so we can't refund it. Ask the custromer to phone us instead.'

So we obeyed and phoned customer services. Again. And again, the customer services person said, 'No, you have to go into the store., Take the statement, and ask them to phone us. Then we will fix it.'

So we went back tot he store. Again. And again the store phoned up and said 'This bank statement is real." This time the store even offered to _FAX_ the bank statement to Vodafone to prove it. But yet again, Vodafone customer services said, 'We can't refund it. We have no record of that charge. Ask the customer to phone us instead.'

So we called them AGAIN. And they said go to the store again. And then the store said we had to phone again. And then they said we had to go to the store again. (Are you enjoying this pattern?!) Again and again and again. It reached the point of some absurdist farce.

After FOUR MONTHS, Vodafone finally unexpectedly refunded it. I was so relieved and surprised.

    And then. Guess what?

Today I see gthey have done it AGAIN - but this time, on my account, not my husband's! Vodafone direct debits took 2 payments from my account in December, one more than double my usual charge. When I phoned up to ask why, they said, 'We don't have any record of that charge. Take your bank statement into the store to prove it."

    OH MY GOD.

Vodafone are making me lose the will to live. Separartely, all the assistants are really nice people. But put together into a corporation and it is an absolute disaster, with nobody taking responsibility for anything.

It has taken MONTHS of this madness before I wanted to make a public post like this condemning the company for customer service. We've been _really_ patient. But please be warned, everyone. If this can happen to us twice, it can most definitely happen to you.

And I have now got the delights of another 4 months on the merry-go-round. Again.

    Hi lily_lou,

I'm really disappointed to hear that you haven't yet received a reply to your email after the initial acknowledgement.

As I'd like to get things sorted out for you I'd be grateful if you could email me your details by using the Contact us form on our website?

When sending the email you'll just need to state the code WRT135 in the subject line and include a link to this thread together with your MSE username in the body of the email and as soon as I've got I'll come back to you as soon as I can.

    Hi dryad_wombat,

To be honest I don't understand why it took so long to get this sorted out first time around but I can assure you that if you could email your details to me it won't long to get things sorted this time around.

To get in touch with me you'll just need to us the Contact us form on our website and when sending it remember to state the code WRT135 in the subject line and include a link to this thread and your MSE username so we identify you.

    Hi matey chummy Lee.

I have just sent you an email as requested. Just for your information, I am now back to where I started for the third time. I have already removed the SIM wiped it on the seat of my trousers, swung the cat around by it's tale, whacked a cows !!!! with a banjo, shown an egg trumpet and all the other time padding suggestions Vodafone seem to roll out. Oh, and before you ask, I don't want to turn my Blackberry Bold into a Curve by locking it permanently in 2G mode. Nor do I want to plug something into my works internet service. They have no desire to supplement your inadequate network. You sold me a Bold to use on the Vodafone network and that is what I want to do.

You say you are sorry to hear about my problems, WELL DO SOMETHING THEN!
