Crazy 2011 clothes challenge

  • Help! Confirmation (as if I needed it) that I have a problem. Was "just looking" on ebay for dresses for my holiday in April. I was looking at a black dress from Monsoon, "ooh, that's nice", I thought, then realised I already own it! It was black silk with a bright pink ribbon belt. That explains where the random pink belt that lives in my washing basket comes from.

Also, I saw a "copy of Kate Middleton's engagement dress". It was from M&S. I know, I have one too and I've had it for well over a year. Hmm. Just because it was blue, doesn't make it a copy!

Anyway, I thought I'd better come on here for safety!

The virus on my computer has got really... really.. bad. I was on Hotmail today, and a coast banner was showing this really beautiful scarf... I have been perving over it for hours!! Debating... deciding to go for it... telling myself off... getting resolve to say no... going back to square one. On one hand, I dont have anything like it, its a classic investment peice and I have tbh always wanted a scarf like this.. but on another account, I wasn't even looking for a scarf, its £28 and is it a little too old for me at early 20's... may be able to squeeze it from the bank of boyfriend for valentines day though :)

    what do you think girlies?

I think you sound just like Beckie Bloomwood a.k.a the Girl in the Green Scarf (if you've read/seen Confessions of a Shopaholic) ;):)

  • NG, Hmm, not sure about the scarf. How often would you wear it? Really. Maybe you should go and try it on. And wait for the sale. Hope this helps. Or am I too late?!

took back the t shirts to tesco from last week and got a refund as the different sizes I tried were too baggy round the waist, tried on another cream top but too see through(not a thing I like in t shirts)
bought the cardi from Next....had to get a size 20:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:sizes drive me mad as stuff in wardrobe from size 10 to 20 that all fit now (have been same weight for years)
going to wear with beige jeans,Next beige/floral vest from last year with pink/green flowers and a green lacy vest underneath which will hopefully look good ....have seena green bag on East web site and have a 20% coupon from She mag mmmmmmmmmm

anyway had some vouchers for Next so only had to pay £4 off my £250 budget so still got £246 which I think is amazing after a few weeks of the year:j:A

    Evening Ladies

That outfit sounds lovely Rosemary, very summery :) I wish I was brave enough to wear that colour on my bottom half!

Well. My dorothy perkins orders have arrived - and are we waiting with baited breath? How much do I now have to declare. REMEMBER that there was a skirt I wanted to keep at one point, a dress and a jacket? Which would have been an approx £50 decleration? Welll..... the skirt, I don't know, i thought it was a bit thicker material its very cottony and not really very wearable on a curvey girl, the dress is lovely, and im in two minds but not in love with, and the jacket allbeit lovely, is fluffy inside and its one of those where i had it on two minutes at most and it destroyed my top underneith - not very useful lol.

    I have to declare...

£16 - decided to keep a top :) its a gorgeous peter pan top, I dont own anything with this colar yet as my OH hates them, but im hopeing he likes this - cos I do! it'll be lovely for work in the summer, and also with linen trousers when I go out after work :) Maybe with a tee underneith for the late winter/spring time :) deffo lovely top.

There may be some stuff to take off this soon - but my current spends are £52... which worryingly only leaves £38 to the end of the month...

But.. as i've been saying all along, its not really about not spending anything for me its about cutting down on the un-needed not really wanted stuff :)

Still debating the black dress I brought two weeks ago - part of me loves it, i dont own anything like this, but part of me is thinking can a size 17 (yep.. a 17 - not quite a 16... yet - not quite an 18) get away with short.

Hope you are feeling better now rosemary 54 - you poor thing - food poisoning is really nasty.

NGlady2 - the scarf is pretty - but how much use would you get out of it? Break it down into a "price - per-wear" and if you think it's going to be only a couple of times over the year (ie a wedding,a meal out) then it becomes expensive - if you think "I have to get a pound a time of wear out of it this year", then you would have to wear it .....ermmm I think at least once every fortnight? Or around that.
But then again if you are going to keep it for the next ten years as an investment piece that's different.........................

Well its my birthday today - my family & friends all know I am on my CC2011 challenge and although my hints for vouchers for any of the big clothes stores have completely gone wildly over their heads I can't complain.

My younger two teen DD's clubbed together and went to my fav little independent accessorize boutique - they have local "artists" handmade jewelery,bags,knick- nacks etc.

Anyway I now have a pretty red chunky felted purse with a huge cheering flower of the front - nice small size - I think they realise Mum doesn't have lots of money so only needs a small purse:o.

Then a little cute Button badge - actually thats all it is - a vintage coat button in like a swirly grey green colour with a brooch pin attached. So I could put it on loads of shirts,Jumpers,Jackets.( A very easy idea to make do ourselves I think) plus they also bought a really pretty handmade "ice cream" made from vintage fabrics with lots of embroidery over it - this now hanging from a bright pink handbag I have so its made it really more cheery and summery.

Other family members have given me a book and a pretty soap stone necklace in neutral beige and caramel colours.

So unless the birthday bunny pops his head round later with a pawful of NXt & M&S vouchers my lovely new accesories will va-va-vooming up my wardrobe!

    Hi there

I'd like to join your challenge. ATM I am the only wage earner in the house (innit tho' bruv), so my total will be £200 for myself, OH & grown-up DS.

I think most of that will be spent on pants, knickers, bras & socks! Although I will shortly need a few bits and pieces for work as follows:

    pair of trousers = £15/£20
    a couple of tops = £10/£20
    a pair of summer flatties = £5/£15
(last ones fell apart last September)

I have a £20 unspent giftcard left over from Christmas which is going towards a top or two for work, but I won't count that.

I don't have too many clothes in my size at the moment becouse I put on loads of weight recently (long story, won't go into it) - so am also trying to lose the weight so I can dig out my stash of 'wear again when I lose weight' stuff from the loft. Loads of lovely clothes in there.

Aploligies for the rambling - got a bit carried away there:D

    LT

E.T.A. Just remembered have got £4 left on another gift card - woooo hooo!
