No, I haven't won the lotto and given in my notice at work :)

Am wearing green skirt, red top, green sleeveless top thingy with a belt and red sandals. Never worn them all together and the green sleveless top thingy with a belt hasn't been worn for work before (and only once for not work, even though it's almost 2 years old).

Felt quite sophisticated walking to the bus stop with my sunglasses on.:cool2:

  • I have bought a pair of converse (£15) and a pair of ballet flats (£10) from the office sale (with 7% cashback and free postage code )

So they were out of stock of the converse, and the ballet pumps were so not me :rotfl: Anyway I realised I needed to stop waiting for a cheap pair of converse and just spend the money knowing that I will wear them. And so that what I did! Lesson learned - better to spend more on something you will use than a bargain that sits at the bottom of the wardrobe.
Well as it's now July I figure I should declare my half-year total...

    £733

My CCC mid way total is £329.88 which is most of my budget, but the challenge has slowed my spending so much I think I do have a chance of making it, or at the very least not completely blowing it!

But my full total, because I'm excluding coats sportswear and shoes, is £424.88 (which because it's now July excludes the trainers), which is quite interesting that I haven't spent much outside my total, I thought I was a shoe freak, but clearly I've been cured of that a little too!

    Hi everyone,

Right this thread is becoming my weekly confessional. I have taken the jacket back so that's £60 back on the total, but i bought my friend a scarf from Liberty's for her Birthday, and then I bought one for myself, because IT WAS IN THE SALE. So £38 on the total so £111/£200 The sales are killing me, as it is usually when i do all my clothes shopping, and i am conflicted as to whether to spend now when things are cheaper or save and end up spending more later. What do you guys do?

Officially sold, paid for by their new owners and sent: Handbag, pair of boots, T shirt.
    Binned: 1 top

In: Nothing new still. Feeling really cluttered and as a result, will be culling my wardrobe even further over the next few weeks. :)

LoL ChihiroSen - most of us on this thread have been where you are at some point so don't panic.

Ok a couple of things I do now that I never used to before starting this challenge.

    • I always now shop in my own personal boutique first- ahhem my wardrobe - before hitting the high street or ebay etc, to get to this stage you need either an evening (or weekend) with a glass or bottle of wine and ruthlessly pull out all your clothes and sort through them.Put those you are going to keep back in some order that you understand. Rest Ebay, carboot, freecycle, charity bag it.
    • List down what you need to REPLACE clothes wise for rest of the challenge - bet though you realise you have two or more of each item anyway. Replacing an item only because it is soooo past worn stage or no longer fits - mend those you have chucked to one side because button missing etc.
    • Think about the price per item per wear - how many times will you wear that scarf from Libertys? If its more than twenty or so in next year - great - if its only a couple then it isn't much of a bargain.(Although I can understand the weakness for Libertys :o,but you get my jist)
    • Any invitations to weddings/parties/do's etc coming up in next few months think about whats in your personal boutique and plan those outfits now!
    • Only buy classics in sales - ie dont buy that neon t - shirt & dress& matching shoes that everyone is wearing now - better to spend the same amount on a maybe a cashmere/wool cardie in a neutral colour that you wear throughout the year.
    • Learn to love car boots charity shops and ebay - they are amazing!:)

Anyway today is day 2 of wearing the same outfit I wore to a evening wedding do a few weeks back - its DD1's graduation today and I shall be wearing the poppy print dress, white shrug and gold shoes, again.

Hope the info is of some help - now I must dash off and get ready - eekkks I am running late.

    TTFN:)

    Morning all,

well done on recycling the Graduation outfit Debbiedeejay - hope it goes well :)

I am faced with the realisation that with new school uniform costs, I won't stay within budget this year :o. This is largely due to underestimating how much money I spend on stuff for DD. It's the first year I've included her so it is a bit of test run as I've never had a clue what I spend on her.

Her new school blouses from M&S arrived & area perfect fit & great quality so yesterday we returned the £6 ones from Tatco. Then she saw a little skirt & top she liked so her clothes balance has increased by £4 - updated in sig.

So, there's not a huge difference in the spends between myself & DD which does soothe my conscience somewhat ;). If I can stay within the total budget for the rest of the year, but EXCLUDE new uniform spends, then I shall consider this year a learning excercise & success. Of course, I do still have another 5 months to go :rotfl:.

To be honest, my spends should be less than DDs as she is still growing so does need regular re-stocking, whereas I should be making do with what I have :o.

Once back from holiday I'm going to have another wardrobe cull & list what I have to wear & what I will need to buy - if anything.

Popped into M+S today and ended up buying 2 things in the sale - a pair of bootcoot jean/trousers for £17 reduced from £29.50 and a black thick jersey skirt reduced from the same price of £29.50 to £17 again. I've been after a skirt like this for a while - panelled thickish jersey and I'm pretty pleased with it at the price and it fits in a size 12 - just a little tum sticking out which I'm working on getting rid of! Both items will be worn plenty when the weather gets colder - trousers for uni and weekends and skirt for the same and maybe work if I find some decent shoe/boots or shoebs to go with it!

Also fitted into the size 12 trousers but the 14's fitted a lot better and came up to my waist instead of the fattest bit of my stomach so went with the 14. That's ok as there's plenty of room in them which is also a nice change! On another happy point I put a pair of jeans on I've not worn in ages which are smallish ones and they fitted perfectly! Although the weight insn't falling off the inches are and it's good to feel clothes fitting better again - it is worth the exercise and reducing calorie intake and addressing portion size!

Rather worrying my total now stands at £173/£250 until 31 Dec - going to be tough to make it but I'll try my best!

Still on the look out for some winter shoe/boots, socks and underwear, few thin jumper tops for autumn and winter

£2 plain white vest top in the Next sale as I don't have one that fits. The one I did have, which didn't fit, is now going to be eBayed.
