It's a shame when something like that happens isn't it? Can you resell it? Or are you just going to grin and bear it?
I've picked up a little white cardigan in Tesco today for £10. I had one of these a few years ago and it had mysteriously vanished when I wanted to wear it last summer. It's 100% cotton, 3/4 length sleeves and not too long so looks good with dresses and jeans. It doesn't make me look like I have a massive bum.
DH was saying last night that he'd not got my birthday present so I'll let him wrap this for me to have on Friday :D
I'll probably get some wear out of it, but it's not something I love which is all I really want to buy from now on.

I am still trying to go through all my clothes and put into sell ,charity, chuck piles but it seems never ending (or at least I am losing my mojo!)

Ah well will probably do some more at weekend.

    Evening ladies...

Just wondering, have any of you ever done the Debenhams (or other shop) personal shopping experience. Is it genuinely no obligation, an opportunity to try on this seasons styles, get advise on what suits and whats a no no and maybe buy over the next few weeks or is it a very hard sales thing...

Im interested in doing one, just deciding whether I can do it without having to spend a fortune, really want to know if my style really suits me :)

£16.99 added back onto my total as the birkis do not fit at all - front straps on right foot do not fit so off they go back for a return. The other foot fits perfectly and the other pair fits perfectly too. Birkinstocks too were recommended by my physio today to support my feet correctly after I explained what footwear I wore and more foot problems

I've never done it myself but have heard good things about them. As far as I know, if you say you want an idea but only have a set amount to spend then they won't try to push you over your total. It's not in their best interests is it? At least if they do a good job, you'll keep going back.

Yes I have, I went with a friend and we had lunch too so it made a good day out. The shopper was happy to work with both of us together.

I don't remember either of us buying anything, and we certainly weren't pushed. Mainly it was interesting because it made me think about what I wanted, so I could clearly explain it to someone else, and because she picked things that we wouldn't have tried otherwise. Eg. my friend tried a suit I'd been nagging her to try on, but she wouldn't until someone else also suggested it - and I didn't usually wear cardies because they often don't go well with DD+, but I learned that a fine knit with a v-neck actually looks great. Not sure I would accept that their advice is any better than my own taste, but great to have another opinion.

I think it probably works best if you pick a store with quite a wide range, so you get a real mix of possibilities, and that suits your general taste and price range. I don't think I'd go back to Debenhams as I haven't seen much I like in there in the last few years, but I might well try John Lewis now instead.

    Hope that helps

  • My total for the first quarter of the year (January to March) - £48

My total for the second quarter of the year so far (April to June) - £1

I had bought myself a pair of trousers for £4 but when I tried them on, they were horribly big! So big, I wouldn't trust them to stay on if I walked across a room. So they went back tonight.

My £1 spend was on a pair of yellow plimsoles in the Tesco sale, so out they're almost in again! They do look odd but I think I'll get some use out of them in the summer.
    Thank you competition posters!

It's nice to know someone cares :) The real battering my poor little toes take is with the pole fitness classes I do - all that climbing and the odd heel clunk when I mis-judge a move :o

Do you ever do a car boot to sell your clothes? I used to sell mine on eBay but found all the photographing and listing took more time than the return was usually worth. Even selling clothes in bundles meant some went for about £1 each (still better than nothing) but then there's fees etc on top.

I started car booting last year with a friend and have far more success with clothing sales there. Of course I wouldn't sell anything really designer or that I knew could get a better price online but it's good for shifting some of the 'everyday excess' clobber.

    wow - thats amazing!!!!!

I am intending to have it done in the Oxford street branch, so hopefully they will have the biggest range available. Do you remember, did they do accessories in urs? thats one thing i wish i could learn how to do, people talk about wearing a new accessory and revitalising an outfit, ive never been able to do this.

@ NGlady: Oxford Street sounds a great plan - not many branches that size! I would've thought they'd help with accessories too. Forgot to say, we booked in advance and I think it does help them if you give some idea of what you want over the phone first. So you could always ask when you book?

    @Decluttering: I am awed into speechlessness :D
