Aaaaah black t- shirts Buffy :D, they'd accompany my black linen trousers - 5 pairs at the last count & in 2 sizes :( they're what I end up throwing on for work when I have a crisis of confidence just as I'm about to leave the house in my carefully put together outfit ...

Really need to get over this :wall:
  • Indeed, my version of that is the black t shirt and skirt combo. easy as. and worn at least 3 days a week!
    depressing but necessary
we shall see how the May finances are going and make a plan.

    Same here Lula,

I wear my cheap stuff over and over again non stop until it fades or falls apart. Then my expensive stuff gets worn once or twice tops. Rally trying to change this and wear what I have

That's why I'm still deciding about the dress - yes it fits, yes it looks nice, will I wear it? More than once? That's the question

I remember watching and episode of Trinny and Tranny a good few years ago and Trinny made a specific point about people that buy expensive stuff and 'save it for best' saying that our more expensive purchases should be the things we wear the most so we actually get use and value out of them - I'm just off to don a £100 dress to watch the telly in then :rotfl:

    Evening ladies.

Well, I will certainly join the club of having a wardrobe for 'skinny-me' i think all us girls have got one of these. I am quite good at not buying stuff for skinny-me she has got quite a low clothes budget, however I tend to buy things and then put weight on urgh.

I will also join the club of that dress being abso gorgeous :)

I have got to also agree with the fact that my expensive items are only worn once or twice, perhaps its with the mind-set that we need to keep our best for best. Well, perhaps we should all agree one day where we are going to wear our most expensive finery which is obviously suitable for our day ahead, don't think wearing a ball down to my desk would be most appreciated lol.

I have really got into primark of late, and have got to say the things I am spending very little on are getting worn more and more - I brought a gorgeous linen dress today from Primark £13... but won't declare as its out of my holiday fund hehe. And I have to say I will probably wear this quite a lot. I wore one of my £5 dresses today and I felt really great in it, odd really considering how much I do normally spend on dresses etc. I normally spend around £35 on a dress, which to a lot of people isnt a big chunk but to me for some reason i am in the mind set that I can buy several items for £35 and its alright cos ive got lots whereas one item at £35 often seems so much. Does anybody else have this mindset, that u can buy lots of items to add up to the amount of one thing u love but deemed too expensive?

Gosh isnt this a odd thing too - maybe im the only one to experience this. When I go into primark and I see an item over £10 i think, wow thats expensive and put it back, whereas in the likes of dotty ps etc i think wow thats a bargain! maybe its the mindset

if all fails - I am also a linen trouser girl. I think I am on three pairs. I brought them from Dorothy perkins online last year, thanks to a grabbit on here £4 per pair! woohoo.

I do tend to have quite brightly coloured t-shirts though rather than the black, this is purely due to suffering from posarisis on my scalp/higher neck and as much as my mum shouts at me i cant help.. it ... itches... sooo... bad lol. so black tends to get a bit on the messy side lol.

Going to be busy over the next few days so intend to be very good and set my standing orders up etc for my bills in may on tuesday :)

    Happy easter all xx

Not so much missing skinny-me; don't think I can complain as went out today in a dress I've had since I was 15! Did make me laugh as the kids in one of the shops loved it and one of the girls asked where I got it - looked a bit disappointed when I had to explain it was from a hippy shop at the other end of the country 20 years ago! :rotfl: (however, no longer have to wear it with Wonderbra as did when 15 :D)

But am missing toned-me as apple-shape creeping on and arms looked little saggy. Time for some gardening and Pilates to keep at bay til exams over and can do some kind of gym.

Re. default wardrobe options, summer for me means linen trousers, t-shirt and sandals or Bravissimo dress. CPW factor for those is tiny as wear them about twice a week. I don't do black though - deliberately gave it up as a challenge years ago and now it seems very intense unless carefully put together (also requires make-up for me, which is too much effort lol).

NGlady - I'm with you on the 'oh this is too expensive' thing. Last year I got a leather jacket in Oasis. It was in the sale and I think it was already near 50% off (goodness knows why as it's a brown bomber style so was hardly out of season) - I think it was about £65 or £75 and then they had a promo mag instore with an additional 10% or £10 if you bought it for £1. All in all I think it cost me between £55 - £60. But I agonised over it for ages deeming it 'such an expensive purchase' until my friend pointed out that it was really only the cost of 2 or 3 cheaper t-shirts and as long as I was going to wear it, it really wasn't all that expensive on the scale of things. And she was right, I've worn it loads.

I guess some of our expectations are sent from the store itself. Primark is very much a 'this season' throw away fashion store (says me who had on a pair of shorts from there I bought 3yrs ago today!) so we expect it to be cheaper as we'll prob get less wear. Whereas there some stores where we expect things to last longer so therefore expect/accept the higher prices - plus a percieved expectation of higher quality?

I'm also like you with the black tops. I have very dry skin and I hate taking off a black top to find it all flakey inside (ugh! sorry for the description) so I tend to wear lots of grey instead. Am trying to wear less, but have also decided that I like grey, and it suits me, so I'm allowed to :p

  • Crikey i wish I thought that much about my appearance. I really don't

But I suppose that is why I joined the challenge in the first place! I haven't even a clue where to shop and my friend keeps yelling at me cos I say all the clothes are too young! (hence Marks and Spencers!)
