Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning folks (or good afternoon to night shifters)

Eeek I'm awake at four in the morning...this is not good, thought that this sleeping issue was sorting itself out. Grrr! I have difficulty in staying asleep, rather than getting asleep. Tut!!

Last night after w*** my planned walk didn't happen...I was far too tired, as I didn't get home until 7.30 pm, plus it was raining a bit. Today however I'm on a late shift - 1.30pm until 9.30pm (not a nice shift admittedly) so am planning to go for a walk in the morning. Last night, once I'd slobbed in front of the computer for a while I got my OS butt in gear and did a wee bit of cooking. I made some "bottom of the fridge" soup - you know what, these soups are turning out absolutely fantastic! I used two peppers, a bit of turnip, a bit of celeriac, an onion, and put some ground cumin seeds in too, and it is really, really tasty...I should write some of these "recipes" down to use again. I also defrosted my collection of yellow stickered fish...had spent about £2 on fish, the full price of which would have been around £11 so BARGAIN:D and converted all that into a fish pie. Again it's something I sort of chucked together, but it's mighty good too!

Plans for today...a dander around the country lanes this morning, a bit of mild old styling in the house, eg do a load of laundry, tidy up a bit in the kitchen, then (alas!!) off to w*** for the aforementioned hours. Even though it's an eight hour shift I only get one 30 minute break, and it really does make me very tired.

So that's my unexciting life. Hope everyone is OK today.

    Good morning all!

Well, not had a very good night. Last night I had toothache, yesterday I had an emergency appointment at the dentist and now have 1 less tooth than 24 hours ago! The tooth didn't come out in one go (don't worry, I won't give any more details!) but suffice to say was not a fun afternoon. The dentist even phoned me last night at home to make sure I was ok.
Add to that the fact that my niece is in the maternity hospital and we are all waiting to hear the news!!!! So you can guess that I didn't sleep well at all. I got a text at 2am to say that baby was on the way, but he's still not here at the present moment.

Today I am supposed to rest, but have the kids club this evening and I am supposed to be doing the story. I will have to see if I can persuade someone else to take over the shouting, but I will still go along as long as I can be quiet! Also this afternoon I will be at the church along with a friend, as we are taking our turns manning the Operation Christmas Child shoebox collection point.

    Have a good day, everyone!

  • Flying early visit, this morning, as I have to get the young Master to school and get into the Doctor's for ten to nine, so I shall have to leave young Sir with the Headmaster who mans the front of school, collecting children from parents in a tearing rush! I'm having three sets of bloods taken for the Breast Cancer Breakthrough Generations study that I've volunteered for. They basically follow you throughout your life with a view to studying whether you contract breast cancer or not and the causes and influences that you've had through your life. I think its definitely a worthwhile thing to be involved in, even if I did have to fill in a questionnaire that was the size of a book and then have three lots of bloods drawn!

When that's done, I've got an appointment with my kitchen, to make two Quiches, (one for dinner tonight, one for when I go to Norfolk for the weekend), some jam tarts for lunchbox ammunition and some mixed veg & bean soup for lunches.

If I can, I also need to get out and rake some of the leaves off of the garden so that I can find what the dogs leave behind! I'm sure they hide it under leaves on purpose! ;)

Hugs to all poorly and sore people - hope you're feeling better soon!
:hello: I'm very well, considering the state I'm in. :hello:
