  • I'm on a real 'get my life/debt in order' mission at the moment and have only just joined the site and it's great that I appear to have had the same idea as so many other people! It gives you such a boost!!! I even created my own spreadsheet this week so i could keep a track of what I've sold, the P&P and how much profit i've made - also taking into account the fee's to be taken etc... but the one on here is far better than mine! :rotfl:

I've just started selling items on eBay, and seem to be doing ok at the moment and it all helps go towards getting rid of some of my unwanted debt.

I can't wait to read more about how you are all getting on... yay us!!!

    eBAY BASIC SPREADSHEET

    Is this enough?
I left space for 100 items, P&P cost, P&P paid, price paid and fees.
You do not need to fill everything to get details. You can put lump sums for fees or postage costs in any of the rows for taht column, has long as you know that is the total. Or put in the description "Total fees for January", and then put no price or p&p paid by customer and add there the fees only. Same with P&P, you can add a line saying "Total postage" and then add only the postage in that line. It should calculate totals and show you the profit in the square at the right.

It is a VERY BASIC spreadsheet. I am only a basic user, I use them every now and then to do my own finances but never done any course or anything, so please let me know if there is anything wrong and be gentle!! :D

Let me know if there is any issue downloading it.

    Oh, thanks!

Let me know if you want anything added / removed / whatever

I do not list everything, tbh. I might just do a line with "eBay sales for 19 January" + how much I got in Paypal in either bids or p&p paid, and then I put the total from the post office in the other column and the ebay fees in the other one. It is much easier for me that way than adding everything and gives me the details I want. :D

I also pay fees inmediately after people have paid, so one thing out of the way. I need to post more today. I think my first batch of items (23, 14 sold) has given me about £20 profit after all costs. Not bad considering all I sold was clothing I had laying around. I have loads more to sell, so I am looking forward to see how I am doing in a few months time! :D

OMG! 34 watchers!! that is a lot! I hope they all go mad in the last hours and start bidding quick! Lol

Funny enough, at the end the items that gave me more money was the empty ink cartridges!! almost £6 for 2 colour ink cartridges. And to think I used to throw them away!!!

At work I use The Recycling Factory to recycle our inks and they pay £3.50 upwards for some HP cartridges, very likely the same for other brands. Perhaps thats what they are buying them for

I just posted the last of my items sold at the weekend = £4.40 left after fees. I'm pleased considering that jumper has been sat in my drawer for about 5 years
Not been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/155
  • I'm currently selling but was just wondering what items sell best in your opinion. Also, how do you work out postage and packaging? Do you guess, or look at what others have listed items as?
  • I weight my items with kitchen scales, then use ebay cost estimator or post office website to work out postage. Add a bit to the weight to allow for the weight of the packaging :)

I don't really bother too much to get it very exact, so everything estimated under 1£, gets postage 1.00£, everything between 1-2£ gets listed as 2.00£ postage, etc. (I use one option right now, first class, when I will list a few more expensive items I will use special delivery or whatever I need to use - need to figure that one out yet! :) )
    2011 143.47£ on eBay :starmod:
  • Urgh, what on earth happened to using manners? I am only 22 and have MUCH better manners than the majority of people I end up selling things too.
If there is an issue with an item, such as it arriving broken, tell me politely the situation, and I will resolve it asap. Be a *beep* about it, and I won't instantly resolve it. URGH  What has happened to being polite? I just don't get it?!
