**Make Me Rich This Year eBay or Else!!**

  • Hi all

I listed lots of stuff last year on Ebay and then Ebay stopped me listing unless I registered as a business seller rather than a personal one, which I did.

Business sellers don't have those lovely free listing days and I seem to spend all my earnings on listing fees so not really getting anywhere!

Any ideas? Would I be better opening a shop (I sell womens clothing - some new, some secondhand) or would that incur even more charges? I think there's a monthly charge but I'm not sure ~ maybe someone on here would be able to tell me.

Thanks in advance for your help

I have got 2 Business accounts (only use 1) and 2 Personal accounts (only use one of those too). Anything new I sell on my Business account and anything second hand I sell on my Private. I don't really list too much on my Personal one only about 20 or 30 at a time (unless it's free listing).

Phew - got to the end of the thread!

I ebay in fits and starts - had a good purge of stuff late september/early October when we decided to try and move and so anything I can get rid of is good!

This year I'm going to have a target of £600 for the year.

After each batch of things finishes I pay the fees for ebay, do online postage and then I know how much profit I've made by what is left in my paypal - I then download the paypal spreadsheet and calculate for individiual items, but that's a bit OCD!

Good luck everyone - have a list of what I'm putting on this weekend for free listing!

Hi how do you pay your Ebay fees as soon as things finish? Ebay usually charge once a month and that one payment can be up to £40 sometimes so can be quite a big hit all at once! Thanks for your help

I didn't realise you could have more than one account - that's great thanks very much for your help :D

You don't have to wait for the invoice from ebay before you pay the fees.

Say I sell 10 things and they all pay through paypal. Once I have all the payments sitting in paypal I go to the account tab in ebay where you can see all the fees and it says how much you owe and there is an option to make a one time payment. So I do that and balance goes down to 0.

As I do postage through paypal it's really simple - everything in your paypal account is then profit and can be withdrawn (subject to minimum withdrawal limit).

Wow, You pay a lot in fees! I listed about 30 items between this weekend and today and all insertion fees were free, idk why. Atm I have £0.44 in fees because I used some options such as more pics when they were not free. But all the items I put today were all free since I choose the basic options. Do you still have to pay something on top of insertion fees and options for listings? It's been years I have not sold anything on eBay and I just assumed those were the only fees. I think you could list up to 100 items per month with your personal account, more than that and they say about business acc I think. :|

    Sorry me again lol
I've set up another email account , and registered as a personal user on Ebay with a new name to sell my secondhand items.

However, when it came to Paypal they wont let me register with the same bank account or debit card - I only have the one account & card and because of a low credit score I doubt I'd be able to set up another bank account - any ideas? Thanks

Natwest has a step account that a) is free, b) has no overdraft and c) has a debit card. If you have all your paperwork with you they might be able to open it the same day and give you the account details. Make sure they do not cross sell you anything, as their targets do not include these step accounts, so they will for sure try to open you one of the accounts you pay for and a savings account. Better to go early in the morning (9-10am), otherwise you are there to wait if they think they cannot get anything profitable from you.

Other than that, wait until February and put those items in your personal account. If you have gone over the 100 items limit this month, you should be able to start again in February. I think!! :D

If you go into your Paypal account you should be able to add another e-mail address to the same account, so any money from any Ebay accounts you have all payments go to the same Paypal account. Think you can have up to 7 different e-mail addresses registered with Paypal.

  • Listed four items over the free weekend, two at BIT which have sold and another has bids. Low priced items but better than nothing. Had a great week last week two items listed selling at £23 and £13.50.

Have lots to list, but cant as OH is such a hoarder!

    Well done everyone x
