Dont want to turn this into a 2-bed house thread, but I have 4 girls and a boy in a 2-bed (moving soon!!). Its tight but we put a false wall in the larger of the two rooms to create a private but very small space for the older one. Not ideal but a possibility?

Not for us, Council house, Thanks though.

We looked into exchanging and getting a bigger council property but due to a lack of 3 bed LA properties (both council and HA) we have been told to expect a possible 9 year wait

Vi - mine is a council house too. As long as its put back to the state it was when you got it then shouldn't be a problem (and its only a temporary wall with battening and plasterboard). Are you on the waiting list anyway? Its taken 6 years of waiting for a larger house and I am glad I have held out. Have you tried homeswapper.co.uk? Most councils pay your membership for that one and its the UKs largest. Or am I preaching to the converted????!

Its tough when houses are too small and rents are too high.

Great thread - I love ebay! It's surprising what you can sell - something I would have binned or thought nobody would want has sold on ebay for a fair price. Now I just list whatever I don't want with a really low starting price, not too fussed if I make a lot of money or not. I just want to de-clutter and making a bit of money in the process is a bonus! I currently have 2 spare rooms filled with stuff!! :)

Whoo-hoo! Just checked my listings (trying hard to do it 5 times a day in total....) and I have 13 listings at £256 so far. OK, so its mainly the saxophone but I have my fingers crossed for some more £.

Next door to us did that, they made 2 bedrooms out of the main bedroom, we will probably have to swap rooms with them when they get a big bigger.

Be warned, you'll give up your room and they'll just fill it with cpra, leave it messier and it will seem smaller than the old one, but by now you've lost your one haven and their stuff will still be spilling out into every other part of the house/flat just as if the room move had never happened...

Trust me, they do not appreciate the extra room.

At the moment all their toys are kept in the living room as they don't have room in their bedroom so they could have our room as a bedroom and playroom and get all the toys out of the living room. I don't care what the state of their bedroom gets like if everything is in there but don't like it when anyone is coming round and we have to chuck everything in cupboards.

I am also joining you all. I hope to sell all of our clutter and pay off some debts at the same time. I always find it interesting to see where the ebay buyers come from. Good luck everyone I know how time consuming ebay can be : )
