Yay, I managed to sell my wedding dress on its third attempt plus my son's old bike plus some dressing up clothes so another £54 after fees. The wedding dress is 17 years old & luckily it didn't seem to bother the buyer when , without thinking, I said it had lasted longer than the marriage, lol! Only have relists left to sell now though.

Thanks everyone for your help I will set up a spreadsheet soon :D

I'm sure there's a template spreadsheet you can download somewhere on this site/forum... I definitely downloaded one a few months ago, and I'm sure it was from here. Maybe check the eBay tips page on the main site? Or maybe someone else (one of the longer-standing members!) can point you in the right direction?!

Hi, those of you who sell baby clothes and other small items of clothing, what envelopes do you use? I have used up my supply of free jiffy bags and would prefer to use paper envelopes as it seems daft using a bubble wrap bag for a T-shirt etc. But I'm worried about them being strong enough. Any recommendations?

Obviously cost is an issue too, with so many things going for 99p...

    Thanks y'all
  • Hi Jevvers,

If I don't have any bubble wrap going I would tend to just use an ordinary envelope but put the clothes in a good quality carrier bag first to limit any water or snag damage. Seems to work - we haven't had any complaints yet.

    Thanks AllThat.

Fredula, where did you see the free listing message? I'm looking in announcements and it's not there. I'm not doubting you, I'm just trying to work out where I'm going wrong as I never get these alerts. Thank heavens for this board otherwise I would be completely in the dark!

I got sent an email about it last night (or this morning - it was on my phone email thing when I woke up). Maybe in the past you've set ebay newsletters and the such to go to your spam box? Otherwise check if there's a notifications setting on ebay itself, that might be what's wrong.

Morning everyone. Could someone answer a query for me please? I have had a message from a buyer asking for my name & address so that they can send me a postal order. I didn't actually put this as an option as have never had one before. Are there any risks involved in doing this & how do you actually cash a postal order in? Do I actually need to give my real name? Presumably I then have to wait for it to clear before I can send the goods? Presume, that this also avoids paypal fees? Thanks very much in advance.

Regarding the buyer knowing your real name and address, I'm pretty sure they can find that out from eBay anyway can't they? Just as you can find out the buyer's name and address...
I have had a postal order once before and had no problems at all. The one I got wasn't crossed, so all I did was take it to the PO and they gave me the cash there and then over the counter. If the postal order is crossed, you can only redeem it at a bank. But again, I think they give you the cash there and then so no need to wait for it to 'clear'. And yes, it does of course avoid pay pal fees

I usually wrap the item in a plastic carrier bag and then usually wrap them in brown parcel paper, using parcel tape to seal it. I have also put items in a carrier bag and then in a large brown envelope before. But that's only because I had them lying around doing nothing :) I haven't had any complaints so far....
