Arggggh, could've kicked myself today at the post office - I sold an item and massively underestimated the postage costs, so by the time I paid the postage I was 1p in profit! LOL.
Never mind, lesson learnt. Few items ending tonight, no bids though.0 -
I managed to list 25 items yesterday, mostly stuff I have been saving for free listing that I don't want to sell for next to nothing. Was hoping to list more but had such a busy weekend!!!Sealed pot member #1950 - £44.79

Listing on ebay is one of those things you love to hate. You know you could make a few quid, but you find every excuse in the book not to do it! I did get some stuff on, but at the rate I am listing, and with the amount of **** I have, I will never get to the decluttered oasis of a house I dream about. On the up side though, I have made a reasonable amount of money I would not have had if not for ebay. It might never make me rich, but I still love getting paid for things I used to chuck in the bin.Sealed pot Challenge 2011 member No 1241 - Final total £154.21

Hello
I have used ebay to but things in teh past but have never sold anything on there. I've tried before and found it all a bit complicated and gave up. Usually I just give things tp the charity shop at the end of my road. I have given them LOADS of stuff and I'm glad it's gone to a good cause, but this year I want to pay off my debt and start saving towards a deposit to buy a house, so I need to find ways of making money. I have a few items to sell but am slightly nervous about making sure I get enough money from them charging the right postage etc. Thought I might be able to get some help from this thread!
Thought I might start with a smaller item as a test run before moving onto the bigger things I need to sell.
Some of the items I have include: a baby Burberry coat, a Bugaboo footmuff, some hypnobirthing cds.
Also have lots of children's books and things like that (have been clearing out dd's bedroom) but not sure if they would make any money?0 -
OK - I've decided to grab the bull by the horns and list the jacket. Have only just started the listing and am already confused! Would anyone be able to help me please?
First question - is it worth paying the 12p to have extra photos? Also ebay recommends paying 95p for 'Gallery plus'. Is this worth it?0 -

You are allowed up to 12 photos for free when listing clothes, so I wouldn't bother with any other paid option.
Definitely weigh your items and use the Royal Mail website to estimate postage. You don't want to do what I did and end up with 1p left after paying the postageActually I'm usually pretty good at estimating postage, but somehow fudged it on one particular item... blergh. Nvm.
Oh and if you want to see if something sells, or for how much, choose 'advanced search' and type the name of the item, tick the 'completed listings' box and it will show you how much other people got who sold the same item, so you'll know approx what you might make. HTH.0 -
Hi all,
I'm slowly starting to do ok on ebay. Sold lots of baby clothes, most for 99p but pennies soon add up.
I've got quite a few watchers on some of my local pick up items, which although could turn out to be nothing, would be great if they sold mainly so i'll have more space!
Is anyone else thinking about the next free listing weekend already? Hmm, think i may be addicted :rotfl:
xxPay off as much as you can in 2011 #130. £1418.70/£4500.

It is only allowing me to put one free pic. Maybe this is because I'm listing under baby rather than girls clothes? Thought baby would be better as it is aged 1 month.0

^Ahh I see, you're right, I didn't realise there was a separate 'Baby' category (it's not something I ever sell).0
