First day today and it is amazing!

The only issue I can see with it is the noise! Now maybe I am doing something very very wrong, but there is a bit of a loud suction noise on removal!!

I am just worried that if I am emptying in a public toilet people are really going to wonder what the hell I am doing in that cubical!!

You need to break the seal to avoid the suction noise. Slide your finger or thumb up one side of the cup to the top edge before you pull it out. Then there will be no noise at all.

    Haha thank you!

It is taking some getting used to but feels so much nicer than tampons. They used to give me bad stomach cramps for some reason

Apparently tampons can cause more cramps as they tend to sit much higher than mooncup, which certainly seems to be true for me. I used to have really bad cramps with tampons and these are much lessened now i've ditched them in favour out my mooncup.
Its funny though, i've been using my cup for eighteen months now and the occasional times when i've worn a tampon instead, I just feel really wrong and dirty!

    I love my mooncup!:T

I've always put the cramps down to the chemicals that must be packed into tampons. Lets face it cotton isn't pure white originally, it has to be bleached to get it that colour and the inner lining of the vagina is very sensitive/absorbant (which is why pessaries work).

I used to have agonising cramps that completely vanished as soon as I switched to menstrual cups. Whatever the reason I am very very glad to be free of the cramps and would never consider going back to tampons, ick!

I've used mine on 2 flights before and I didn't even think about that! I'll be paranoid in future now :| They would be visible on a scan, but like tampons and sanitary pads I would hope that it would not cause concern...

I've been scanned with one in, and they didn't bat an eyelid. I'm sure menstrual cups are something they are aware of, same as tampons, so are probably trained to recognise them.

I've been getting on fine with mine, and really prefer it to towels and tampons, except for two points:

    - (TMI alert) Does anyone else find that it can...er...cause a bit of a blockage if you need to do a poo? Sorry, I did say TMI. I find it seems to be pinching my rectum somehow, which leads to quite a bit of discomfort. Am I doing something wrong?
    - I always leak a couple of drops. So I still keep a very, very thin pantyliner on, but I don't know how to stop it. When I insert it, it 'pops' into place and collects the majority of blood. I just always find there is still a drop or two that makes it through, no matter what.

    Any ideas?

Yep to both of your questions, think they're pretty normal problems. With the first it's not always an issue, but occasionally I find that I just have to take it out first, haha. On my much lighter days I don't have a problem with the 2nd point but I almost always wear a pantyliner too just in case.

I am only on my first episode of using it, but it does feel odd when doing a number 2. I tend to take it out too.

I have noticed a few drops but nowhere near as much as I had with tampons. I can get away with just a pantyliner now, whereas I had to use a towel as well with a tampon. What a waste!!

OK good. Glad it's just me!

And yeah, still much better than the tampons for me too. The pantyliners I use are super thin! You don't notice they are there, which is just the way I like it!

I recently bought a femmecup when it was half price and just used it for the first time and searched for a thread to help.

First few times was a bit fiddly but now i'm a pro :D I had trouble with the C fold and switched to the punch down fold (Youtube vids) and it works much better for me.

This period i have been cramp free and i used to always feel my tampon and it made me feel i needed the loo constantly...but no more i've felt normal with my cup and much cleaner.

I feel liberated :j If not a bit shocked at the mount of blood in the first retrieval.
