Sorry about the job makeup X'The road to a friends house is never long'0

Shame about the job, but it just means that there is a better thing for you 'out there' somewhere. You've gained experience & positive feedback is exactly what it says on the tin
I am rather wondering whether you said "oh, F*** Off, I'm fabulous"
Hope the cold is not dragging you down too much

I should go back and say that but the problem with internal job vacancies is you have to see them afterwards!!!Sorry about the job makeup XHI Makeup
Sorry you didn't get the promotion but great on the positive feedback. Will you start to look for other opportunities at the higher level? Will your workplace give you opportunities to help you get that job the next time?
I too love the ideas that you have for your dad's gift - one that will last for a whole year!
Best wishes
urg x
I don't want to post publicly the exact ins and outs but there were some internal politics going on but I don't feel cross about it, it rather amuses me. I feel like I've come out well from the whole thing and it would have meant a lot of work and been really challenging....
There is a big shake up coming and there will be opportunities as a result and I'm hopeful that something will come up along the way. I will continue to look externally as well and if something good comes up there I'll be ready. I've not had the formal feedback yet but hopefully I'll get something from that, that I can take to my manager to use to do something else. I do quite fancy doing a MA and was thinking wouldn't have time to do it if I got the promotion but maybe this is the time to do it now instead?! I did speak to my manager about this before and he did indicate there was still money available for this and he would support me in doing this....hmmm we'll see....I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills

On money news, my parents have agreed that I won't pay them in January so I can throw all that months debt repayment money towards the Mint card and then in Feb I'll finish off the Mint and start paying them off.
My mum is worried that I'm paying too much each month to them but I'd rather been frugal for 6 months than have it hanging over me for ages. Plus they need the money for all the fab holidays they go on!!! They love being retired, they're off for 6 weeks in March to NZ and Aus!! :j
Anyway the bonus of paying them back is that if it does all become too much, I can easily give them a call and renegotiate.I've got my own flat :j:j

Shame about the promotion but it sounds as if, long term, things could be good for you workwise - fingers crossed!

Urgh! I feel dreadful. I've had a cold now for a week. I took last Wednesday off and then went back to work but over weekend it got worse. I've now got a horrible tickly cough and I can't wait to be well again

I rang in sick yesterday and we'll see how I feel tomorrow. I'm getting a touch of cabin fever but there is no point going back and spluttering all over my desk and my colleagues! Can't see myself being too popular if I infect everyone else!
On moneysaving / spending news I'm into my overdraft already. Not too bad at £22 but it will get worse as I will need a bit more money to get me to 20th.
I also received a £5 voucher for a survey I did with the GFK media survey and I checked out all the other emails I'd had from them with vouchers that I'd won. I was certain I'd claimed them all but found 2 x £2 that I had missed so in all ordered £9 worth of Amazon vouchers. Which turned up 2 mins after ordering. They are so much better than other sites which take ages to send an e-voucher through.
I've already ordered a jam thermometer for £4.51 on Amazon. I really wanted one before Xmas as I had a recipe for mulled wine plum jellies. In the end I couldn't find one in any shops near me so my sister brought hers down. The recipe was fab and I'm keen to try it out on other fruits. Also I bought a little book on making Macaroons before Xmas as I love the look of them and you need a jam thermometer for that too and those will probably be something I turn to, for gifts for friends in this year of the homemade gift.
My first present for my Dad is lemon curd but I want to be well before I make it....however his b'day is Friday so I need to make it on Wednesday at latest to get in post on Thursday!!!
Hmmmm......
On moneymaking news, I had an email from the Census folks, however they were basically just telling me that they're still thinking it over and will let me know.
Hopefully they'll give me some good news as the money would come in very handy indeed!I've got my own flat :j:j

Ooh jam thermometer! Always been curious about those - I expect that is a money saving exercise in itself in the long term

Hmm, not sure money saving as it means I'll be making more fancy things !!!
I don't actually eat a lot of jam myself so not like I'm gonna save money on buying jam!
I've finally made the first of my presents for the year, a jar of lemon curd for my Dad's b'day on Friday.
Quite bargain-tastic as had sugar, eggs and lemons left over from Xmas and have used an old honey jar to put it in and have found a box in my box stash (for all that ebaying I'm going to do
)
I'm currently eating the leftovers on top of crumpets. It is really yummy! Quite tart....but lush!
I'm going back to work tomorrow, I still feel rough but I don't feel quite so bad and I'm going stir crazy at home.I've got my own flat :j:j
