The Great Declutter Part 3 - 2011

I knew it had to be there, under the clutter in my living room, but I must admit it hadn't been seen for a while. Once found, once vacuumed.
Decluttered over the weekend:
1. Lots of stuff from a defunct bank account; weeded out the leaflets, put statements aside to be archived for a few years and the rest to be shredded. Sheddings join the compost eventually. Now have a space to put new bank account stuff.
2. Partially-used up handcreams were slit open and finished up, so they're off the premises.
3. Listed one thing on Freegle, not a big thing but it was taking up drawer-space and every bit counts in my Shoebox. Hope someone wants it.
4. Taking CD tower to CS as Freeglers not interested.
5. Will keep up the good work by ventring into the Shoebox's nooks and crannies as there must be a few square inches of storage somewhere on the premises and the odd unneccessary item which could be given away.
Keep on keeping on, girls and guys, we'll get there in the end.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

After my 'confession' last night I'm ready to start the great declutter of my home
I'm a bit of a list person as I like to be able to cross off jobs etc that I've done so I can see that I've actually got something done therefore motivating me to do more IYSWIM.....so, last night in bed I filled several pages in my notebook. I broke each room down into areas that needed doing so that even if I only tackle a small area e.g. bedroom windowsill I can tick it off and I know it's one bit of decluttering achieved
So far today I've brought a small amount of shopping in, but out went the kids this morning, and a cuppa just now lol. I've had my morning fix of MSE (I could spend the whole day browsing the forums on here) and I'm going to switch the laptop off shock horror and go start in the bedroom. I shall be back to report good things later before getting DD2 at 12pm.
We try to sort our things in to:
Keeping - then put away in their rightful places
Recycling
Rubbish
Selling - Car Boot; Ebay; Facebook group (local group where you can advertise to sell, swap or give away your treasures) CEX etc
Charity shop
Other - usually things to return to people or to pass on to othersExtra savings aim for 2020 £4,000 £0/£4,000

Im really proud of myself...the postman just came and I sorted it out without dumping it in the place post usually gets dumped (I sorted that all out yesterday...dont want it getting cluttered again!) 3 letters were junk, so they just went straight into the recycling, and a new cd I have been waiting for for ages arrived, so ive put that onto my mp3 player and the cd away...no clutter for me today! :-)January grocery challenge- £338.09/£350

Yey Guys, you wouldn't believe the weekend I've had!!! I've been unstoppable. Except by the painkillers lol!
On Saturday I took in 6 plastic boxes (I know I know its an in!) but I needed them to put the contents of the table, the cupboard etc in. These are now neatly stacked. All the heirlooms that I think should be put away are now wrapped and ready to go in the loft.
The whole house (without exception) looks like a tip because the builders are coming to fit the woodburner and then the wooden floor so I've had to clear rooms. What I have managed though is to get the cupboards that I wasn't using into my sons room as they fit very neatly underneath his bed (he has a cabin bed). This means I can remove the wardrobes from his room (which OH wants to use as storage in the garage - suppose this is good news!).
Have to tread gently with my youngest as he brings home works of art (!!!!) from school - mostly boxes taped together - and I want to dejunk his room, so I have to do this in spits and spots. Have got loads of recycling to do and have saved lots of boxes for the school to have and then have some items for burning (YEY!!!). Will also be checking the books and papers as I put them all back for any duplicates. Have also got paint from B&DIY for the boys bedrooms (which I plan on doing this January).
Yes, January will be a hectic month, but hopefully by the end of January it will all be sorted and finished. Have invited friends round for the first weekend in February to give me added momentum to finalise this all!!!
Happy decluttering XMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -

Hmm, have to admit that didn't get done - however I DID manage to have a general tidy up and do some washing etc, so at least I have a nice clean tidy base from which to start.
My aim tonight after work is to go through the bedside drawers and the pile of *stuff* in the corner which is probably all for charity but I just want to check! I'm umming and ahhing about whether to try some of it on ebay or whether just to forego the hassle (and small profit) and just put it all in the charity shop!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
I managed to remember to put the Avon catalogue outside before I left this morning, I keep forgetting and get notes left - nothing ordered either!
Decluttered the food a bit bringing stuff into work but that's stretching it a bit!Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000
