It was my resolution last year to declutter the house........ failed miserably, no noticeable difference at the end of the year.

So having another bash to get going this year.

    Today have
    1. Put Christmas cards into a bag to recycle
    2. Binned some loops I was going to sew onto some teatowels - job been waiting to happen for 2 years, will never happen.
    3. Cleared 95% of a pile of mail and junk off kitchen worktop - some post dated July :-(
    4. Identified book for charity shop
    5. Necklace for charity shop
    6. Trousers for charity shop
    7&8. 2 cardigans for recycling
    9. Newspapers for recycling
    10. Shredded pile of credit card slips OH keeps piling up on the bookcase

Have also got down all the decorative china in the kitchen and given it a good wash and cleaned a couple of shelves over the cooker which get greasy.

Helped OH put Christmas decs back in the loft.

I will declutter, I will declutter, I will declutter......

Just being arguing with hoarding OH as I've just discovered he still has a large collection of simpsons videos even though he has all the simpsons dvd boxsets! We don't even have a video player anymore (I have it away about a month ago as it hadn't been used in years) and even if we did, he would never watch the videos as he has all the episodes on them on boxset. Yet still he wants to keep them because he says "I'v had them for years", when I tell him how ridiculous it is to keep them he switches his arguement to "they might be worth something one day" - I don't believe a load of mass manufactured videos will be worth anything in the future, and even if they were surely it would only be a very small amount so not even worth it.

I've just looked on Amazon to see what the videos are going for - it's not a huge amount - he should sell them now (and it gets them out of your house :rotfl:)

  • Ive just a very quick sort through of my dvds, (they are spilling off the shelf and all over the place!) and have listed 14 on ebay. I dont normally list stuff on there, I can never be bothered with the hassle of having to pack and post it out, but I thought as its free to list at the moment I might as well...I suggested to DH that we shouldnt buy stuff via paypal unless we already have money in our paypal account, but he wasnt keen on this idea at all!!

Shed is now clutter free (well not quite 100% but it's a vast improvement for DH!) He can now at least, get in there ! :rotfl:

Need a trip to the recycling centre tomorrow, nothing worth selling/freecycling so it's all going to the tip.

I've decluttered the greenhouse and had a general tidy up in the garden, feeling very satisfied with today's work ..... must be good for the soul all that fresh air :D.

Going to a car boot sale tomorrow so must be restrained and not bring too much home :o.

Oh, I'd love to join this thread. I'm desperately trying to unclutter my flat, but I am such a hoarder. It's mostly books I struggle with! So today I have:

listed lots of things on Amazon/ebay - I seem to find it easier to get rid of things when I'm making some money :-D
sorted out about 15 books to take to the charity shop

So not a bad start to my new decluttering pledge!

Ur doing great with the challenge lola34! I have totally lost count of how much i've got rid of now so have to give up on that but think it came to about 60 in the end, haven't done any today or yesterday as was my son's birthday and today his party. Have also received all the stuff i ordered in the sales last month so had 9 parcels/boxes to come into the house so the loft is worse than ever. On a good note tho, 2 bedrooms looking good, kitchen lounge and bathroom too (except for kitchen cupboards but not ready for that big task just yet lol). Need to have a major ebay as soon as i can, just need to get some motivation first as now i've lost track feel abit pigged off with myself :(
