Hi all :hello:
I am hoping to join you in my quest to clear my carp! I've got shedloads of stuff that could be of far better use elsewhere.
I'm on a mission in the run up to Christmas to get rid and rehouse at least some of it. I really want to be able to redecorate at some point next year, but have no chance at all unless I have a good clearout of all areas.
So, I have a bag full of randomness ready for the charity shop within the next few days. I'm away!0 -

Hi everyone! Have been keeping an eye on how you're all getting on but haven't posted for a while pretty much because I haven't got much done recently!
After the car boot sale decided that anything left would go to the charity shop. Been taking it in batches but still some bags to go. Listed MIL's knitting magazines on ebay and they seem to be going well. Not making a fortune but better than nothing.
Unfortunately with Christmas coming up more and more stuff is finding its way into the house. Plenty of space for stashing presents but it's all the extra food etc. that I'm buying gradually that takes up all the space and it doesn't help that OH thinks that the spare room is a tardis and keeps buying more and more furniture, tools etc and thinks that the room will somehow hold it. I think over the past few months that I have been clearing out more and more big stuff has appeared to fill the gaps. MIL is downsizing and is trying to sort through what she can keep and what needs to go. OH can't resist saying yes to stuff that's going for nothing. FIL appears at the door dropping off beds and units and I'm all but barricading the door! Soooo frustrating. I'm not one to turn my nose up at stuff going for nothing but I've been trying so hard to make more space and all my hard work's coming undone.
Going to start the pre-Christmas deep clean next weekend. Skirting boards and tops of cupboards here I come! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I am still steadily decluttering and making space in my home for the things I love. Today I am getting rid of a bag of magazines and some of my DD toys that she has outgrown.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

Sounds like your OH could teach a squirrel a thing or 2 Lyndy...maybe you could sell some of the things they give you? or would this be a major faux pas?
I must admit I too like to receive "something for nothing" but these days all things superfluous end up on ebaybetter that my bank balance swells than the house!!
just an ideaxx

Nice to see your update Rummeryou were certainly more productive today than I was with the decluttering....nothing out today at all (well only 2 takeaway leaflets)
However your post set me thinking...the magazines and kids toys set off the ebay alarm in my head...
I wonder if I speak only for myself when I say I have something of a dilemma when it comes to decluttering...as I'm as commited to the money-raising/saving/debt paying off as I am to the decluttering....
It always feels like a bit of a conflict...between I want the house empty now....and I have to wait and possibly make a few quid first....
anyone else have this? x0 -

Oh Totally Ella!!!! I've had one huge pile of stuff for selling at NCT Sales for the last 8 years or so (not the same pile I hasten to add, but as stuff gets sold other things replace them ready for the next sale!!), although the money I've raised from these has paid for a trampoline for the children and a Nintendo Wii, and we've got about £150 waiting to spent on the next treat. Anything non-NCT gets stored for selling on ebay.
Although I've made some really good money from selling my unwanted things, I have to say that sometimes I wish I wasn't so greedy and just gave it all away so that I had clear cupboards/wardrobes/garage etc....0 -
