Our DDs went off into the room of doom...I mean the playroom yesterday, and started tidying it up themselves! DD1 found a few things she didn't want anymore, some bits went in the recycling bin and the rest were saved to sell/donate. Today we had a go together and tidied up/sorted out the storage baskets they've got and put everything where it should be. We looked through their books and they both found quite a few they didn't want anymore so I've taken pictures and put the books and 2 jigsaws on my local facebook selling group. Sold 3 books already tonight pending collection :) I also put some of DD2's clothes on there so we'll see if those sell. Anything that doesn't sell will either we car booted (probably next year!) or sent to the CS.

I delivered 3 books I sold on facebook yesterday , so a few pennies for the girls and a bit of space on the shelf :) OH posted some blu-rays he'd sold too. I also managed to do a huge amount of ironing, but still have some left and as I've done 3 loads of washing today I fear it may grow quite a bit! On the plus side I found I had far too many coathangers, so sorted out the good ones to keep and recycled the others.

Tomorrows jobs include a bit of food shopping, hoovering all rooms, dust/clean/tidy the living room, bathroom and dinning room/kitchen.

Worked through the kitchen cupboards again - rehomed 2 mugs, binned a chipped mug & two bottles of out of date vitamins. Sorted out the rest of the contents & re-lined the shelves. Very smart now :)

Sorted out a stack of books to go to African schools, via a local charity.

Since my last post on Monday I've done yet more ironing lol (STILL have some left to so). Over the last 2 days I've given all the kitchen cupboards a very thorough clean, including plinth, skirting boards, coving, window frame etc. Sorted through the basket on the kitchen side and that's had it's contents reduced due to recycling and re-homing a few bits.

Been through the massive wodge of receipts (Ex-H got me started on this - write down all receipts and total up monthly spend etc, quite a good way of tracking how much you spend and where you can cut down - only helps if you don't leave it for months on end lol) and wrote them down in my book.

Listed laods more kids and adults clothes on local facebook selling pages, and someone is hopefully coming tonight to get a load of the ones I put on on Monday as well as a few books. Fingers crossed they turn up as that'll be one big bag of stuff gone :) Can't think what else I've done, but done general housework as well. Oh, the girls and I made some cakes yesterday and they're being decluttered quite quickly!

Had a rummage through the desk today. Very bravely gave my dad my old Fossil wallet (worn, but much loved) to take to the charity shop, as well as a stationery set & an unused address book.
Put a stack of card blanks to recycle - can't use them as they're bent. Why was I keeping them?

  • Am on holiday this week and I decided to have a good ol' sort out of the 2 living rooms - mostly the middle room as we call it - its more like a hallway as it has 3 doors off it to other parts of the house so it's been used in teh past as a playroom annow a computer room - but it was sooooo untidy.

Anyway have totally gone through all the stuff and carp and revamped the room - a good lick of paint wouldn't harm but don't have finaces at the mo but at least it looks a little more respectable. Plus my Gt Grandads bureau now has a new use as my computer desk where before it was never being used, just sat in a recess in a window so that's nice.

Also convinced DD2 to de junk her room and wardrobe so I can actually see her carpet (well for about ten minutes anyway)

Plus Sorted the craft corner in my kitchen were all my art stuff lives (no where else in house for it to go) so all is in order there.

Oh and I did managed to decllutter window sill upstairs and put up curtains and it's still clear :)

    So have declutterd the following

    1) huge bag of clothes hangers on freecycle
    2) glass to bottle bank -pending
    3) plastic bags to recycle bin at Mr M's- pending
    4) lots of kiddie art and craft stuff to kids next door
    5) plastic tube used to store socks or bags to neighbour
    6) pile of DD2 clothing to be either ebayed or CB
    7) lots of empty plastic bottles from bathroom in recycle bin
    8) 7 ebay parcels

But have taken in two lonely cushions a friend was giving away - have put them to use in my new revamped middle room computer chairs.

Next is to decide what to do about the chest freezer I have. I stopped using it a while ago as I couldn't afford to keep it full and run it. I bought it 2nd hand ten years ago for £50 and it was probably 5 years old then and it certainly over the years been a god send - but I just daren't let it go "just in case".
Thinking I might sort shed out next and move it across there but I think really I should just get rid of it..hmmm might have to sleep on it before I decide.:o

  • Luxor that's given me a right image :)...sleeping bag down...curled up..etc lol

OP - personally I'd keep it (if you've the room) I've been after one for ages but can't really justify spending on one at the moment....think they'd come in super handy for yellow stickered/reduced items....bread etc.... depends on what you're decluttering aim is though :)

    xx
  • Well bought some new bin liners a few days ago after running out...smartprice obviously :D....

why is this important? well today I've set myself the challenge of filling one up, going through each and every corner, nook, cranny, crevice, drawer, cupboard (you get the idea) no stone is being left unturned...

I'm not sorting out the stuff I'm keeping (takes too long)....just having a mass purge - think of it like a decluttering trolley dash :)

    going ok so far....

    good luck decluttering today x
