The Great Declutter Part 3 - 2011

Hi All
Just a flying update to say that I have got two more bags of clothes out to the charity shop, two bags of rubbish straight to tip, and filled wheely bin with two more bags.
I am starting to see the light, which has been proven as my extremely tidy and house proud friend (her nickname is "Monica" as in Friends) wanted to come round for a brew and a chat and gave me about a hours notice.
Normally I would be flying round the house like a tasmanian devil, trying to "move" things out of the way and tidy up, but for once I had nothing to do and was very chilled out.
Keep going all.Aims for 2014
Drink a glass of water a day, Empty handbag at least once a week, Continue "not putting things off" and tackle things head on, Treasure people around me, Stay healthy and well away from hospitals, Continue to declutter/decorate house slowly and not get stressed because I can't do everything at once.0 -
I have finished painting the downstairs loo and all the brushes and rollers have been washed and dried. The tray is drying on the sink as I type. I can now get on with some more bits and bobs. I will try to get the window frame in first so that I can paint it and then make the blind for that room then that's one piece of fabric out of the way
.
I shall keep on plodding through. Need to get myself some sugar soap soon to clean the kitchen with so I can get on and paint that and the utility room. Start 5 split nights tomorrow night so that's a week out of action for me. Catch you around.

think you feel so much better when you have tided up as you dont mind when some one comes round .even better your not rushing around trying to tidy before they come round lol xx0 -
I have sorted out my recycling bins and put them out the front ready for tomorrow. I decided to bite the bullet and look daft by taking out all of the empty wine bottles from my cupboard under the stairs and put them in. There are 28 wine bottles. 1 vodka bottle and a gin bottle! I think I would rather see the shock for 1 day than have a sustained trickle of 3 or 4 bottles a week. It also means that I should be able to start getting my books out of the cupboard and onto the book shelf.
My next job for today will be sorting out the shoe box I think. It's driving me nuts. It appears to have spread from the bottom of the stairs to the front door and got mixed up with golf sticks and coats.
Am really cross today at the total lack of care and attention that the family display towards me or the house. I work hard trying to keep it straight and they don't appear to give a to55. I got one of the sofa blankets washed the other day but not dried so I put just the one back on. As soon as the other was dried, I put it down on the floor by the sofa ready to go on. 5 days later (or thereabouts), I have put it on by myself. It would just be nice to not feel like you're pushing water uphill sometimes

Kaz - I know what you mean about being (or feeling that you are) the only one who does things around the house. My DDs are 6 and 3, so the youngest doesn't always get the 'tidy away before getting new things out', but is learning, but the 6 year old is quite good bless her and will tidy up/help quite a bit. It's the big kid (OH!) who needs a kick up the !!! sometimes - ok, a lot of the time. Saying that he has improved a lot this year, especially when I was ill for a while and I got quite down and upset about the state of the house (nothing too major, just stuff left all over, boxes from when we moved in last Feb still taking up space, washing up not getting shared etc etc).
As mentioned a few months ago OH has a massive DVD and Blu Ray collection and he's on a forum where he can swap and sell them so when he gets in from work, and when the kids are in bed he's on his beloved laptop checking for new messages, writing down addresses, packaging up and 'updating my list', oh, and he sells some on ebay when they have free listing weekends too. I joke that he only comes home to spend time with his laptop. So although I'm glad the collection is deminishing and the coffers are being filled, it's frustrating that time he/we could be doing housey/decluttering things he's on his laptop grr. Now I've chilled out a bit I don't get so annoyed and he's seen the error of his ways too bless him
My aim is that by the end of the year the spare bedroom will be decorated and we will have built the wardrobe/storage area and filled it no doubt! The kids bedroom will be decorated, the playroom will be a playroom and not a 'chuck everything in it' room, the conservatory will be a nice place to sit and relax, the garden will have furniture and the planters will be filled with lovely things. Oh, and the house will be tidy. Always. Not much to aim for....Extra savings aim for 2020 £4,000 £0/£4,000

Well, we have had a bit of a mission this afternoon after school!
The overflowing shoe box has been emptied and all the shoes sorted and old/too small put out for the recycling tomorrow. That's 4 pairs gone. 1 random sandal gone too. DD then went upstairs with her friend and they have tidied her room. I'm not sure how tidy it actually is because I'm a bit scared to look yet but 4 carrier bags have come downstairs and straight out into the rubbish bin and recycling bin.
The hallway is a little bit clearer nowDebt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
Morning All
Mojo is still on the blink:(, hasn't helped that this week I have had to return to wearing my two arm splints all the time as an ol' lower arm problem returned:(:(.
So hardly done any decluttering - house is in a state - kids not interested in helping bu there again they are busy revising for exams and are pretty wiped out once they come home.
Have a mountain of ironing - looks like a jumble sale on my bed, but arms won't let me do it at mo so will have to wait.
Ins - 2 skirts(Monsoon & Evie)
1 dress
both from a kind colleague at work, one skirt and the dress still had tags on - never worn!
Outs -Have put the ord bin out today, does that count?:oCrazy Clothes Challenge 2012 £57.20/£100,CCC 2013 £68.67/£100 ,CCC 2014 £94.32/£100
