The Great Declutter Part 3 - 2011

I'm starting to get really cheesed off now. The house is groaning and this weekend the weather was awful on Saturday so we had no plans to be anywhere. DH whinged and moaned all day because he didn't want to stay at home. He could have helped out a little by doing some decluttering of pictures onto walls or cement into holes or paint onto walls or anything really but he just whinged on and on. I get really fed up of being the only person in this house who wants to have a nice home to live in
sorry, feeling like a misery guts at the moment because I've no time to do everything and am the only one doing any of it. I know the paints will sit until I do it. I know the pictures I wanted for my birthday last year are never going to get put up. They just get moved from room to room with the odd frame getting the glass smashed in it because he won't hang them on the blo*** walls and I can't drill into our walls because I'm not strong enough. If I tried, I'd have the plster off and he'd kill me
! Ach well, let's get on with the ironing.
Aww, hugs to you Kaz, sorry you're feeling down.
My OH is a whinger too and delays doing stuff I've asked him to, I could slap him silly sometimes! You are doing the very best you can do in the time you have available, you make me feel tired with the amount of stuff you can fit into a day!
I had a 'moment' earlier when I was overwhelmed by the stuff in the spare room. It's because of all the stuff I've listed on Ebay, I don't want to pack it all away in case someone asks questions or buys some of it, so it is just lying about everywhere...
Today I have:
Gone through paperwork - small pile put into bag to be burned when I have enough
Added a dress, two pc games and a video into charity bag
Made veggie lasagne, to use up some items from the pantry0 -
Oh my word, I haven't been on here for sooo long. Not sure what happened, but I didn't update for a week due to ??? - maybe being busy or ill, I can't remember and then never got back to posting
Lots of good news to report though, and I will have a catch up of the thread (about a months worth of posts I think - or maybe more!).
Main points: (otherwise this post would be huge)- Made a proper start of the spare room whilst the girlies were with my parents for a few days in the Easter hols. Took 3 days to get the layers of paper and paint off even with an electric wallpaper stripper. It's all cleaned out so I can now get on with rubbing the paintwork down
- OH, the kids and I have had a good go at getting the 'playroom' sorted once more, but this time more thoroughly. OH has mainly sorted his end of the room (and has been selling the DVD's he's upgraded to Blu Ray) and between us we have sorted out what the girls are and are not keeping. Got back into car booting and sold a load of the kids stuff
- The conservatory has also had some attention, with 2 large bookcases put together and filled with our books. There are now only a couple of boxes in there, and there is now room for the kids bikes (they are laying in the back garden a lot at the mo, and due to the nature of the extention/conservatory it's the only way through into the back so they stay there for ease). I also have my ironing board & steam generator iron set up in there so I am once again ironing! Not sure if that's a good thing or not yet :rotfl:
- We have put up the new curtains my lovely mum made of the girls (we picked them at Xmas and have only just got round to putting a new curtain pole up!) and also had a mini sort out of their clothes, which I need to finish this week.
- I've got myself into a good rountine of doing the washing up and any tidying in there as tea is cooking, and then do what's left after tea as I really hate it and ended up leaving it till the next day and then hated it even more - and it's not loads as we have a slimline dishwasher!
- I can't describe it, but it's like somethings clicked inside and I'm starting to get that motivation back to do things that only a few months ago I would have groaned and moaned and got down about. I feel like we're really getting there, and even though we still have a long way to go in terms of getting every room decorated in some way, I feel better about the state of the clutter and 'stuff'
Next job is to do the general tidy up as OH's grandparent's are coming for tea tomorrow, much to the DD's delightDD2 now goes to her Pre-School 9-3 on Wednesdays so I have a whole day to declutter/tidy/decorate etc which I'm loving as no excuse to stop half way through the day.
Next update will be much shorter I promise!Extra savings aim for 2020 £4,000 £0/£4,000

Only half way through the day and already have a chicken casserole on the go in the slow cooker, washing up done and cleaning all done apart from the hoovering. Whilst I've cleaned round I've been finding odds and ends to chuck, kind of like a mini challenge to do something with (at least) 5 things from each room - binned, recycled, put away, charity bag, car boot box etc.
- Squashed empty loo rolls from kids 'making stuff' which are no good - recycled
- Kids old toothbrushes/paste saved for cleaning jobs/binned and replaced with new
- Several bits of general gibble binned
- A load of hair bobbles and clips returned to their rightful place
- Used up last of washing liquid, rinsed and recycled bottle
- Leaflets through door read and recycled
- Bank statement read and filed away
- Excess coat hangers (I think they breed in our house lol) recycled
- Some of DD1's clothes put away for DD2, and some of DD2's clothes put in charity bag

I have started the painting today. I'm just letting it dry off a bit so I can see if I want to keep the two separate colours or paint the whole thing in 1 colour. I've done patches of the green which I'm undecided on.
I still haven't done the ironing, it can wait until later. MiL is round today so I will do it when she takes the littlies out.
I have decided to try and get some laminate type board to use instead of tiles in the utility room. I'm not sure if I can get what I need though so I may have to tile it after all. I have no intention of it being allowed to be cluttered up again when it's been redecorated. There is a bag of cement in there which has been shoved in. It's to fill a hole out the front of the house and I hope DH will mix it and do it this weekend. I shall whinge and moan at him until he does it!
Yesterday I decluttered almost a carrier bag from the laundry pile. I have also decluttered 3 wine bottles (from failed elderflower champagne turned to vinegar and used as loo cleaner) and 2 2l bottles of ginger beer used for loo cleaning. There are 2 2l bottles left.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
Today I:-
did a huge pile of ironing and put it all away
put the last 2 week's worth of newspapers in for recycling
did 3 loads of washing and put them out on the line (which means I'll have more ironing, it's never ending, lol!)
cleaned the top of my cooker (had to put all the little bits in soak for a while as they were well manky, looking a lot better now but will have to give them another go at some point)
and I've got 4 small ebay parcels ready to post, possibly tomorrow if I've got the energy to walk to the post office
Going out to a quiz night tonight so that will have to be it for today.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

Haven't been feeling too well so haven't done any decluttering (nor much tidying). House is looking like a bit of a tip - so now I'm starting to feel better I need to get back with the programme...
I'm off on holiday in a couple of weeks so my main goal between now and then will be tidying so the house doesn't look like a tip for my kind neighbour who is feeding the cat. Decluttering is likely to be incidental.
I've had a lot of "IN" s & no significant "OUT"s that I can think of. So from what I can remember ...
IN
7 tops me - CS
3 tops DS - CS
cardigan me - CS
gym trousers - CS
picnic rucsac - CS
Weatherproof jacket - CS
Sandals
Mobile phone case
The god of Charity shops continues to be good to me. The weatherproof jacket (Regatta) was an amazing find. It's almost new, exactly the right size & colour that I wanted & only £7.99 & the cardigan was nearly new & one that I had been thinking of buying full price a few months ago - once again it was nearly new & exactly the right size. :j
Everyone sounds like they're doing really well.x

A couple of outs. Hurrah!
12 pieces of random clothing- old knickers and the like
2 folders worth of paperwork- basically my bosses have had an overhaul on how we get paid so all the relating literature had to be thrown out.
1 handbag which had served me well and had ripped on the faux leather and was pretty much unsavable.
A load of correspondence has been shredded as well as a bank card.
I also sewed up my beanbag so that's got some thread out of the way and gives me something nice to sit on
And tomorrow i'm sending an email parcel which gets rid of an item and a jiffy bag ( i save them all from when I shop online).
Tomorrow my essay will also get handed into University which means that I can put away my printer to be moved.
In's:
Lots of Body Shop stuff unfortunately but i'll report that tomorrow maybe- i'm going to try and get some stuff returned/swapped.
Enjoy your declutteringxx
