Pleased to report that I have atoned for my CS buying this week by weeding 60-70 books, picture frame, set of language tapes & various bits of stationery for CS :). But have to admit to buying another top from CS yesterday :o

Its ages since I've been here, you're all so busy! :T

I put four black bags of rubbish out today (apart from usual kitchen bag). I have 2 bags of shredding but didn't have the nerve to put it all out at once :o surely I will see some space appearing here soon!

I gave a lot of stuff to my ds and his partner last weekend, they will sell or keep as they want.
    ... So, my rooms are:
Craft room: masses of stuff from various fads. A lot of it needs to go on ebay, that is going to take some serious energy to sort out so I think I'll leave that until last. ...

I have a monster of a craft room to sort too, I'm making a pledge to myself to finish it by the end of April, might even have time to paint some of the furniture by then crossfingers.gif
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

    afternoon all,

Didn't actually make any progress decluttering last night but I did put everything in the dishwasher before bed, shinned my sink, wiped down the work surfaces in the kitchen and swish and swiped this morning before leaving.

Have actually been really surprised at how easy it has been to get into these little flylady routines, and really is making a difference :)

I've been taking my babysteps too, and also finding it really easy. I was wary at signing up to the site, having seen horror stories about the number of emails that come through, but I'm so glad I did! You get to choose your email preferences and I only get one a day, at about 645am - so no excuses that you need to check if there's another one from Flylady:). I find I look forward to it as a reminder for the rest of the day, having already made a start with my morning routine. I bought the book as well, but everything in it is available on the website - I just find it useful to carry around!

avstar, I think that you need to call a family meeting. TELL your DH your concerns. I would get him to agree to keep his stuff IN 'his' area, ie the loft room. Any overflow has to be sold or got rid of in another way. Ask him how he would function if it was a business? He would order in the parts he needed wouldn't he?
Does he have an adequate filing/ storage system for his bits and bobs? If not, perhaps you could both agree to get rid of a load of stuff on ebay in order to fundraise enough to get him good storage. I espescially like the garage stuff that someone had on here.
Then, he needs to operate on a 1 in 1 out policy. If he doesn't have space to keep it, he needs to sell it or get rid of something else.

I've got rid of 1 carload of stones today. Also found the stone which was missing from our wall. Once the temperature has warmed up a little bit, I'll get DH to reset it. Also decluttered some seeds into some pots so they can sit and get growing for me. Flowers make me smile and it's lovely having pots on my windowsills :)

Thanks Kaz - only just caught up on this thread.

Yes I know you are right - there's obnly one way to tackle this and I need to talk to the other half about this, he doesnt respond well to sit down formally type talks, so I#ll have todo it a bit more informally thatn that.

I'll see how he responds to my offer of help to ebay stuff, hey ho !
  • Morning All:)

My DD1 came round for her birthday tea last night so i had to declutter under the kitchen table so we could all sit round it - lots of stuff under that that belongs to DD3 footy club but we have no home pitch att he moment so most of the parents have "bits and bobs" taht belong to the club so I decided to put in the shed .

Plus I de cluttered a work work bag - recycled most of the paperwork and threw out the year old choccy biscuits!

The shed:eek:.............OMG I have totally forgot I have a shed ........not been out there since last summer and its horrific..............definitely that's a day or two job this Easter.

Anyway the kitchen table and area is tidy but there are a couple of cupboards that need sorting ...again.

And of course there is the continuing saga of DD2 missing passport that needs to be found ................

Now I need a plan of action for the shed!

    Hello everyone

    Decluttering going very slowly here.

Old garden shed has been demolished and taken to the tip. Garden looks so light now.
Will be buying a replacement shed but we are not going to store junk in there.
Have a bike that I`ve only used a couple of times (it`s got a puncture). DH has put this in the garage and said he will fix the puncture.
Also found my old sewing machine (going to ask DS if she wants it). Needs a new foot pedal but is a good machine.
Other stuff we will reuse is currently stored in the garage. Rubbish and shed have been taken to the tip.
    Good luck with your efforts

CS bag was collected, and posted ebay parcel yesterday. This morning I've done a couple of wash loads, and dusted and decluttered the wall unit in the lounge, got a couple of ornaments for CS but still undecided on my lamp. I like it, and would like to use it, but I broke the glass shade years ago, and have been trying to decide whether to try to get another shade or offer it on Freecycle, will put it in the spare room until I've decided what to do with it!

Just seen it's free listing on ebay this weekend, so now I'm going to go through the stuff I've set aside for that, and photograph the new stuff, then over the weekend I can just list it all instead of having to take photos first. Got a pile of paperwork sat on the shredder to do later, and OH has a pile of clean clothes on the 'floordrobe' (he can't get used to the fact he now has usable drawers and wardrobe, lol) which I need to put away.
